While the cat's away, the mice will... clean???
I said on my other thread that DS17 stayed home when we went away this week.
Meanwhile back at the ranch... Ds17 wanted to stay home. I'm not sure what he's been up to. If it was me I'd be sleeping late and eating junk food all week.
He sent me a few "what has Jared been up to?" Audio treats. One involved him trying to pour gasoline into something, maybe lawn mower or weed whacker. He ended up drenched in gasoline and had to take a shower. Either he did something stupid or he is trying to freak me out. I texted him "Sorry I neglected to say don't light yourself on fire. So don't light yourself on fire!!' Glad ur ok"
My friends are asking why I'm not freaking out. He's ok, the house is still standing, he didn't try to hide it from me.
Next night I get this text. Hilarious.
"But thats been the undertone theme of the week so far, up to where I thought the smoke detector saying it needs batteries (everytime someone moved) was grandma saying "Hello Jared"... The first time...
Not gonna lie, it freaked me out, and I was scowering the whole house saying "hello" and seeing if anyone was there, but the doors were closed and locked, and 2 hrs later I walk by and it says "*beep* low batteries" which sounds like "hello Jared" if you weren't paying atention..."
😂😂😂
I come home and see the front lawn mowed and the living room looking wonderful.
He said that was his reason for staying home. To work and surprise me. Our neighbor says every time she saw him outside he was hard at work.
My house and yard have been:
Vacuumed Swept Dusted Straightened Laundry done Pool upkeep Mowed Weed whacked Cleaned gutters Power washed
AND he cleaned his room, which was a hot mess.
He also wanted to paint the deck before I got home but ran out of time.
He is so proud of himself and rightly so. I am so proud of him. Blown away.

That is so sweet. I know it might be a tad early but do you think we can work out an arranged marriage? I know I am 66 and perhaps a few years his senior but I promise there would be no hanky panky. My part would be to feed and cloth him while providing shelter. What say you Mom?

When my husband was a teen, he was left home alone. His mom came home to a really clean house...really clean. Too clean! Busted! He had a party and had cleaned up too good! Lol, glad your son isn't like that! The couch out of place from vacuuming is what gave him away!
You boy sounds wonderful!

He always talks about throwing a wild party - like if I'm gone for the afternoon. My only real concern was that I didn't want him swimming if he was alone. I made it clear that was not to happen. Before we left he asked about a friend coming over. I said as long as his parents knew ds was home alone. And that I would be ok with him and his buddy swimming. Sil and BIL came a couple times to help and swim.
