I'm sorry for your loss. We had to put our dog down the day my mom entered the hospital for the last time. When we were in the room waiting for him to take his last breath, I cried....hard. For him, but mostly for my mom because i knew she wouldn't be far behind. I cried for both their suffering and I cried for the ending of one's life and the beginning of the end for another. I cried that we could end the suffering for one but could not for the other.

Financially and mentally my kids have to be my priority. Plus I'll admit I'm thinking "I'll be darned if I bring home a dog "cured" of cancer when I couldn't do it for my husband. 😔 I hear you loud and clear. Hugs to you and yours. SaveSaveThanks for understanding. ❤️

I'm really sorry. I agree that it's not about the dog--or at least, not just about the dog. Pets carry so many memories and feelings in their short lives. I'm glad you had your FIL with you to back you up.

Hugs. It is very hard to lose a pet, they are the innocent lives we just can't ask them what it is they need. They are a part of our lives, the give us unconditional love.

Oh, no!
Is it possible the two got into something/ate something that was poisonous? Perhaps the tumor that was found wasn't causing issues yet and it happened to be coincidence that they found it?
((((Hugs)))) It's all too much, at a difficult time.

Ah gee, I am sorry. I hope Hugs is simply depressed because of losing its sibling. Hope to be reading good news soon.

I'm so sorry your other dog is having issues! Hopefully the vet can help. I wouldn't be surprised though if it is depression. I truly believe dogs (and maybe other pets too) form strong familial bonds with the others in the household. We got our first two dogs fairly close together, they were different breeds but basically the same age. When the big one got sick and had to be taken in for the last time, the little one was absolutely distraught. He would go all around the edge of our fenced back yard looking for his buddy every single day for weeks and weeks on end. It was so sad to watch.

You're not going to believe this. I'm at the vet with the other dog. Hugs hasn't left my room since bedtime last night. She refuses to get up. Even with the leash. I can't tempt her with treats or peanut butter bread. I don't know if she's depressed? She also has rapid heart rate and shallow breathing. I called and they told me to bring her in so they can find out what's going on. So here we are. Ds had to carry her to the car because she wouldn't move. She got a ride on the gurney and put her head up like she was a regal queen riding in style. And now we wait. I am betting Hugs is missing your other dog.

Hope the second one is ok. Our dog took it hard when his sibling died. The sibling was pack leader so the second one was lost and grieving. He needed a lot of extra attention and we gave him canned or cooked food in a new bowl and location instead of the same dry food. Lots of patterns had to be broken to get him back to normal.
