When did you realize you have too many scrap supplies?
I was at a scrapbook store out of state last weekend near my mom's. I saw a piece of paper I knew I have but had not been able to find it in my stash. I went back and forth and finally decided not to buy it. I came home and looked everywhere for it. Nope, can't find it.
I call my mom and ask her to make a special trip to the LSS. I call the LSS and ask her to put the paper aside for me because she is getting ready to start a big sale this weekend.
My mom goes and gets the paper and the LSS owner just gives it to her. How nice is that? In the mean time, I look in a bin I already looked in, and there, almost on top, is the paper.
So what happened to you that made you say, "I have too much stuff."

When it started taking longer to find and pull supplies for a card than making the card. And I am a slow card maker.

When I look at kit sales at various websites and realize I already own everything in the kit...

This kinda goes with this thread for me about being a shopoholic link Plus the fact that I have come across duplicates of things.

I waffle on things at Tuesday Morning if I can't find two of it. Oftentimes I will hit several stores (4 stores are about 40 miles or less for me) and forget what or how many I have found. I would rather buy too many than not enough.

I may not have "too much stuff" in relation to what others have, but I have a very small amount of work and storage space for my stuff. So I literally know that I personally have too much stuff when I buy something and cannot find a single drawer with enough space in it for me to cram that new item into a drawer.

when I have boxes of new stuff just sitting around. I look at it when my pkg comes and then it sits there in the box, quite frequently for months.
having too much doesn't stop me from buying more though!

When I moved my scraproom. I went through my stuff to put it away in my new space and found a lot of things I had totally forgotten about. I can't keep all my supplies and projects in my head. But that's OK, I like all kinds of different sources of inspiration and it all has a place for now.

When I find 3 of the same color ink pad because I always think I don't have the color. Duplicate ink pads is not as pricey as duplicate stamp sets or dies! I have tried to have restraint and decided not to buy a particular item. Then every time I see it in a store I agonize over whether I should buy it. And on a weaker day, I give myself permission. Only to bring it home to realize I gave myself permission to buy it the LAST time

This kinda goes with this thread for me about being a shopoholic link Plus the fact that I have come across duplicates of things.I've done that more times than I care to admit. I have to say "when it takes longer to find the thing I know I have than it would be to go all the way to the store to buy a new one." Which is something else I know I've done more than once. Once I was thinking about making a cowgirl page with pics of DD and I *KNEW* I had bandana paper in red, blue and pink somewhere. I passed up buying more a few times because I knew I already had it. When it came time to make the page, I couldn't find that paper ANYWHERE. I spent over three hours looking for it in all the most logical places before I finally gave up. I'd spent so much time looking that I didn't have any time left that day to actually scrap, and I totally lost any mojo I might have had in the process. I finally found the paper months later in a bin of random stuff I bought on a road trip but never got around to putting away, so I immediately put it together with the photos and it was the first thing I knocked out the next time I sat down to work on something!

My "too much" moment came a few years ago when my paper was taller than I am. It isn't that way anymore but I'll probably never need to purchase another piece of patterned paper for another 347 years (at least).

I store my embellishments in Iris boxes by theme. When I need 2 Iris boxes for Christmas and Halloween, I know I have a problem!
When I need a whole basket to hold my OA paper and embellishments, I MIGHT have a problem.
I justify it all by saying I don't smoke, drink, or gamble (except in Vegas every few years). I can pay all my bills. Sheesh, now I sound like I am trying to justify buying more - like a cute pink typewriter...

In the Studio Calico dupes thread, I asked where I could find the gold chipboard stars from a kit. Yesterday while packing up my scrap room to move, I found that I already had them! I bought them from a SC sale months ago!

Add multiple bins of Disney and birthday and you might be coming close. I justify like you do too, only I don't go to Vegas and additionally I don't buy a lot of clothes, expensive purses or shoes, don't get my nails done or get massages either.

When it kills me.
I was just in my "scrap room" with the nice shelving and desk, with the additional table, with the wire cube shelving, with the stacks of scrap crap ALL over the floor -- mincing into the room, with teeny steps, carefully putting my feet to avoid the stacks of scrap crap, while loaded with another stack of scrap crap being moved from the "guest room" into the "scrap room", getting ready to go to Ikea to get a Rakog cart to hold the scrap crap that is ALL over my "office room" floor.
As I had successfully found a place to stack the scrap crap on top of the other scrap crap, I turned to leave the room on the same littered slim path I'd entered ... and you know how a bag will reach out and grab a toe? Well a bag of scrap crap (it was actually a couple of slippery Michaels bags, you know how they layer the bags together to hold scrap crap with pointy corners) those slippery bags grabbed 3 toes and I tripped, staggered, and very nearly went down.
Where I could have fallen is totally unknown ... but it would have been on to a stack of scrap crap and undoubtedly really hurt and potentially, likely REALLY damaged me -- because there wasn't any room for my head to go down without hitting something fairly solid.
So -- I have enough scrap crap when it kills me -- or nearly kills me!

I thought this yesterday. I wanted a piece of plain vellum... I can't remember where it is and I can't be bothered going through stuff to look for it. Yeah, I'm lazy but I did think wow, I really do have too much stuff.

WHEN YOUR BOXES OF SCRAPBOOK GOODIES TOPPLE OVER BECAUSE THEY ARE STACKED TOO HIGH. I figure people here may understand and hopefully won't judge me. The last 2 months I went on an online scrapbook supply buying spree, between online sales and being able to use my birthday and anniversary in June as an excuse to buy the boxes are piling up. I usually only make a purchase maybe once a month and am good about opening up my goodies right away and putting them away, but with the kids home and a busy summer I just stacked up the boxes in the corner of my office. Well the other day I went to open the door to my office and I had to force it open because the boxes had fell down and were blocking the door, thank goodness none of my family was around when that happened or I would never hear the end of that one. HAHAHA

For me it's when I sit down to create something and 2 hrs later I have nothing done because I've been sitting there trying to pick the papers, the embellishments blah blah blah. I look down at my table and it's full of crap that I've picked out and then I can't find my pictures in the pile. Then I just walk away...like I did today. Less really IS more.

All of these stories are making me laugh, and I'm really laughing at myself! I also almost kill myself in my scrap/crap room.
Today I was trying to cram a finished album on the shelf where other albums were stacked, and the metal corner of a WRMK album caught the album I was shoving in and literally ripped the cover down to the foam underneath. BTW, there is foam under the cover of the D ring WRMK.
If they were just lined up on the shelf it wouldn't have happened, but no, I have to have them stacked up because I have no room.

My son dumped a container of stamps (something I rarely use) and misc. dies. I forgot I had a set of birthday stamps. I've been working on those type of layouts the last couple of days and decided I need to add more stuff to that category because I didn't have much. I still want more paper.

A few years ago, someone posted a link on 2peas from some scrapbook organization blog that helped you estimate how many projects you can make from your stash based on estimated quantity. According to the article I had enough paper to last 40 years at the rate I made layouts at that time. FORTY! That's insane and I immediately went about purging...I donated a lot to friends who work in or are active with schools, libraries and scouts. I also scrapbook a lot more and buy a lot less..

Yeah, I'm lazy but I did think wow, I really do have too much stuff. OMG. You just needed to ask me for some! I have the clear (which I might actually use) in my letter sized cardstock shelf and a couple weeks ago found a magazine holder FULL of brightly colored vellum (which I probably won't EVER use) in pretty much every color there is. Briefly thought about putting the whole thing in a ziplock bag and pricing it at a dollar when I had my garage sale, then thought, "Nah, maybe I'll give it to DD's school..." At any rate, there it sits in the exact same spot where it's been for probably the last year. It needs to go.

How about when you hear a loud crash several rooms away and discover that all of the magazines and idea books you kept for reference neatly arranged on a shelf (after giving or selling or recycling over a dozen grocery bags full of the rest of them) are all on the floor and the shelf they were on has completely collapsed? They are currently all still in the bins I loaded them into after they decimated the shelf.

Apparently my tool drawer (the top one) is still booby trapped. I tried to find a paper piercer so my dad could fix the BBQ (he likes the sharp point on it). In doing so I managed to stab myself yet again with an X-acto knife. It wasn't as bad as the last time but apparently the drawer has just a little too much stuff in it for safe usage. Apparently.
There are scissors, ink pads and sharp knives in there. Why all this crap er stuff? I don't know how it all got in there either. The top drawer is used the most and it is the smallest. Why?

I die cut letters for my title from colored vellum and it looked GREAT. Try it!
