I'm thrilled to hear anytime anyone announced that equality is for all. And I'm glad to hear that Target offers benefits to same-sex couples. But I'm not sure I understand why large corporations need to make these announcements? Maybe it's necessary right now, more vocal support creates more support and acceptance of the issue.

Target, Chick Fil A and a Starbucks inside the Target. Also Dress Barn and Marshall's. And Whataburger. I need to stop going over there!

Well, my Target shares a parking lot with Burger King. Not sure what that means- paper crowns for everyone? I think it is good. Maybe one day Florida will get with the program.

Hmmm. I ate at Chik-Fil-A and then did some school supply shopping at target for my kiddo. I have a family member that hasn't shopped at Target for years because she was convinced they were pro-same sex marriage so I was already thinking this was their stance. I guess this just confirms it. Doesn't bother me either way. I don't choose where I eat or shop based on corporate politics. Maybe I'm just selfish and am thinking about saving money and getting my needs met.

This doesn't surprise me since they have featured same sex couples in their ads .

Hmmm, so point to ponder for me. If corporations shouldn't have "personhood" then why does it matter if they as a "corporation" take a stance on social issues?
I've changed my opinion on gay marriage over the years, and yeah, I know, I'm getting all weedy and off topic, but the thought just came to me to contemplate so thought I would throw it out there.

To me, because of what it means for the building tidal wave of public opinion. You are not the only one who has changed her mind over the years. And no, corporations shouldn't be people, but we are stuck with this crap for now!

Excellent news.
I thought I had read that at one time Target was under fire from LGBTQ equality activists for having some actively anti-gay policies. I even have memory of hearing about a boycott. I figured that's why the have now taken this public stance.
