Do you tent camp or have a trailer or RV?
My family were always tent campers. I have such fond memories of those good times. I has been many years since I have been camping but I so loved being outdoors. The smell of coffee first thing in the morning. Oh and the smell of bacon cooking! and those smores.
My son, who did 8 years in the army, says he did enough "camping" then. However his 5 year old son is bugging ole dad to take him camping. Guess who will probably win out?
If you camp now do you feel safe?

I cabin-camped in late June at Girl Scout camp (a mum and me weekend with my youngest). Last time I tent-camped was December at a Boy Scout with DH and the girls
I always have a good time camping but I prefer to only camp from October to April - summer camping is miserable with the heat and humidity.
I generally go tent camping at least 3 times a year and cabin camping at least 2 additional times with the Girl Scouts. We rarely do family camping - mostly because someone in the family is camping at least once a month all year round.

We camped for 4 days this week, and go for another week starting on Monday. We camp in a pop-up, but are looking for a trailer. There was a bad thunder and lightning storm here on Wednesday, and it was kinda scary in the camper.

Never. I have never camped in my 52 years of life. And I have no desire to start.

Not long enough Seriously, it's been about three years for me ... we used to have a really nice trailer but I just found camping to be too much work ... shop, pack, cook, clean, cook, clean, cook, clean, unpack, clean Not my idea of a good time ... I'm not an "outdoor kind of girl" either so that probably had something to do with it ... we did it for a loooooot of years and the only thing that helped me survive the last few was wine We now take our summer vacation in a condo

Do you consider camping a hotel on the beach? If so, then a couple of weeks ago.

Real camping or in a travel trailer camping? I got suckered into travel trailer camping about 10 years ago. Now, we rent a cabin at that resort every year. I don't tent camp. Ever. There was some thread about this on 2Ps about 6 months ago. Didn't you want to buy a travel trailer, Mary Mary? I warned you! I was the one who poo pooed camping and there was a big pile on. I stand by my original words. NO.

2 weeks ago. We have a 23' trailer and camp all summer. We are gearing up for a tubing trip in a couple weeks. Love it. We stock the camper in the spring so packing is minimal other than bread & a few perishables.

This past 4th of July we were at camp. We used to tent camp, but take advantage of renting cabins now. Going again next month. We generally go to KOAs.

I like everything about camping besides sleeping in a tent. I need a bed at night.

October of last year in Big Sur, CA overlooking the ocean from about 3,000 feet above sea level. It was like a dream and waking up was like being in heaven because the clouds rolled in over the ocean. It was seriously beautiful. We tent camp.
We will be going camping in the Sierra Mountain range in about two and a half weeks. Again in tents. We love to camp, but I hate to camp with people who don't like to do it so please stay home if you're afraid of dirt, bugs and a week without a shower.

Its been at least 15 years since I camped last, maybe more. I grew up tent camping every summer for at least ten years. As an adult, it was mostly pop up camping with an occasional trailer trip. I never thought about whether we were safe or not. I don't plan on camping anytime in the future, but I suppose if I was in a remote location, I might worry a little about safety.

It's been years! I just was telling DH I want to go camping before it gets cold and snows. We're watching our funds lately but i hope to score a tent on clearance since season is almost over.

Two days ago. It was the first time I had trailer camped since childhood. It brought back some wonderful memories. I loved every minute of it.
All of my other adult camping time has been spent tent camping. I never really felt unsafe in a tent. Well, except for the year that a black bear was gallivanting around the campground the day before we arrived. We just made sure not to keep any food near the tent.
I probably should mention that I adore camping. That's what we did for my bachelorette party. Yes, I am an oddball like that.

Thirty years. I don't camp. It is not something I find enjoyable at all. I love nature and spend tons of time outside but no thank you for camping.

Too long!! We love camping and went back in June. We started out in a tent and moved up to a pop-up. We loved our pop-up and used it quite often in the summers. Ours weathered a couple severe storms without a scratch. The only thing we didn't like about our pop-up was the beds. As we get older, it is hard to climb into. We bought a 26 ft. travel trailer in 2013. Love that it has a queen bed and a bathroom!!!
We have made so many wonderful memories camping with our family. We love spending time outside hiking and playing. We hope to go way more often next summer.

About 30 years ago in a RV. I used to love it but hated getting it stocked to go and the cleaning afterwards. The days in between were fun!

I realize I didn't even answer the last question. I definitely feel safe when I go camping but we go to actual campsites within reasonable distances of ranger stations. We make sure to check conditions before we go and are prepared for the worst. I would not feel comfortable just pulling over on the side of a rural or dirt road and setting up camp.

Last month in a tent. We have 2 air mattresses in the tent. DH and DS1 sleep on one and DS2 and I sleep on the other. DH and I are on the outsides, because the only thing that feels unsafe about camping is the chance that the kids would wake up and wander out of the tent. Of course, I don't think I sleep soundly enough that I'd miss the zip of the tent door.

We bought our first RV July of last year. We have taken it out 7 times since getting it and have 2 more weekend trips planned for this year. I just got home Monday from my last camping trip. It was dry camping in the RV at a 3 day music festival in Oregon. We took our dd and her bff to Silverwood over the 4th of July holiday so that was our last family camping trip. We are looking forward to planning our trips for next year. This year we had to work around dd’s 4-H schedule but we think this is her last year in 4-H. So that will free up some time for all of us I have a bad back and have my heating pad in the RV, so I can’t do tent camping. I haven’t done that since I was a kid. But we had a camper then RV for horse shows so we’ve used them for family camp trips for years.

Never, ever, ever. Not my thing at all. Love to travel and go on adventures, but will pass on the camping. My S/O loves it, so this is one of the reasons we never travel together.

Proper tent camping - 1973, 6yo, with my dad. I remember having to poo in a hole. Even though I had a good time with my dad, I have no desire to ever go camping again. I don't consider cabins or trailers to be camping.

Last time I went camping I think I was about 14. I'm 30 now, so it's been a long time. I was never a fan of it as a kid, but now that I'm an adult I've been wanting to try it again but no one wants to go. So, who knows if I'll ever go. If I went, I think I'd start out in a cabin. I wouldn't be opposed to tent camping though.
