there are people who say that this election is already being decided by the absentee voters. Are they already counting them? I figured they'd have to wait until Nov 8 to start tallying them. As for those that are mailing yours in, I'd be nervous that there would be a hiccup and they wouldn't get there. How many times have we seen people on her complain about mail getting lost. Save

We are going to vote on the 29th, my birthday! We only have 2 Saturdays that the polls are open to vote and with my husband's work schedule it will have to be one of those.

SaveOurs are scanned into the voting computer before we leave, so ours are being counted. I just looked at our county's stats and we have over 500,000 vote in presidential elections on Voting Day itself, with 243 precincts. So, we have on average over 2,000 people voting per polling place. That accounts for why we have lines!

This is my oldest sons first year to vote, so I'm excited to go to the polls with him on election day.
It's a small community center with just rolls of tables. I kinda wish it was a little more private. You can easily look over and see how the person next to you is voting. In this election, privacy would very much be welcomed!

but my 15 y.o. would have to come with me and there is a high likelihood he would be a distraction - talking, moaning, flapping, etc. So, no bringing my kids to vote with me. Or else a pea would post a long venting thread about this rude mom who brought her loud child to vote and it was quite destracting until the polling place staff made them leave. I was going to say the same thing about my 8 year old! I need to figure out how to do absentee voting. Ours is held at the senior center by a lot of slow moving people. School is not closed that day. Last election, I was greeted by a woman saying "Hello, Sister *Jones*" because we live in the same area, but I hadn't been to church in a long time. Gah, I have a first name and this isn't church! Bugged me when I was actively going to church too.

Saveit's not that they actually tallying them already but they are going by voter sentiment and polling right now. they say that those who are not happy with trump and those who may have been swayed away from him may have cast their votes already without waiting until the 8th to see if their stance changes the other way.

I live in a vote by mail state. I am going to cast my ballot the moment I receive it. In years past I would wait until election day to drop it off at one of the ballot drop off locations just so I could get an I Voted sticker. But, delaying it until the final day means the continuation of political mailers being sent to me and phone calls. I don't want to endure any of that now so I am getting it in as soon as possible.

I haven't received my absentee ballot yet and just this morning I was asking my husband if it didn't seem like we should have them by now. I have received the voter information guides. Guess I'll have to do a little checking to see where the ballots are. We recieved ours today (north San Diego county). I'm looking forward to filling it out and dropping it off at the library. Our polling place is a neighbor's garage so I'd rather just do this at home.

I prefer to vote on Election Day; however, this election is so important I'm voting early so if anything comes up, I don't miss my chance to vote. Early voting starts here October 20.

My mail just came and I received my ballot so I'll be voting and putting it in the mail this weekend.

I usually early vote. But not this year. I'm currently planning on voting for Johnson (who is on the ballot in all 50 states) because I absolutely cannot and will not vote for either of the other candidates. I'm still hoping some kind of miracle will happen and give me another option, and so I'm going to wait until election day to vote.

My ballot arrived in the mail today. Ugh... It's like trying to decide which STD you want to contract.
I'm leaning toward a third party vote as well. I'll get it done in the next few days.

I haven't received my absentee ballot yet. There are a couple of local issues I'm still undecided on so I'm ok with that.

I'll vote in person on Election Day. We've never had crowds/drama on Election Day (knock on something). We have lots of voting places, though, so each voting place only serves a few blocks worth of residents. It keeps the lines from being crazy. I enjoy the ceremony of voting on Election Day, though, and I like taking my kids with me and showing them the process and then we all watch the returns together. I agree. I like the feeling of importance that voting on the actual Election Day gives me. And I will be taking my 2 yo grandson with me & we will have a little civics lesson about how men died for us to be able to vote. My polling place works pretty efficiently and it's pretty much in & out.

I remember my first voting experience. 1976? I think? My dad picked me up & took me to the poll. This was when voting booths were huge & there were curtains to draw for privacy. We had all these levers to pull. My daddy stood outside the booth & kept saying "just pull the party lever!"

I like voting on election day like other peas. We never have long lines so I can usually walk right in to the table and give them my id. We live in a very blue area of a swing state so I wouldn't want to deprive the little old lady who always hands out the ballots the chance to do her exaggerated eyeroll and tsk, tsk sounds when she hands she hands me my ballot. We don't have voting booths..just little tables with a small half divider in between sections where you fill in your ballot. It would be easy to see what the person next to you was doing if there was ever anyone else beside you. Usually when I take the paper ballot over to feed into the machine the person at the machine looks right at the ballot as it feeds into the machine so I'm sure they know exactly what the outcome is ahead of time.

I like to vote in person on Election Day. This year I requested a mail-in ballot, figuring that way if I happen to drop dead before Nov. 8, my vote will still count. BUT the 7yo wants to go with me to vote, so I guess we will take my mail-in ballot to the polling place and fill it in there after all. Hope it isn't too crowded with good mommy citizens after school gets out. Usually I get pizza and watch election coverage all night, but I have to admit Italian beef sounds pretty wonderful, too. I'm training the 7yo to be a political nerd, so he can watch with me till bedtime. P.S. a left-wing political nerd! I'm training him right! ha ha

Iowa started early voting September 29th and myself, DH and DS had already requested absentee ballots and they came just a couple days after early voting started, so yes, all of us have voted and all three of us voted a straight Democratic ticket.

My ballot isn't here yet so I can't vote. We've had vote by mail pretty much since I started voting. I've never voted in person, do you bring notes so you can remember who you wanted to vote for? ETA: our 167 page (yikes) voter pamphlet came in the mail last week, ballots won't be here until around October 25th. I think we are in the same state 🙂 Thanks for the update since I've been out of the state for a bit.

Early voting starts in my county on 10/24. I usually go on a lunch break and get it done. Our polling place is YDS's elementary school. He's off for the day due to all the people in and around the building. DH works 3rd shift. He will be sound asleep and I'm not torturing anyone with an bored, impatient 5 year old while we wait in line. Besides, DS would want to push the buttons on the electronic voting booth. You know he'd vote for a goofball!

Just filled out ballot and it's all sealed up and ready to go. Does anyone know why Trump has two parties listed next to his name? ETA: I just started a thread with this question as I'm genuinely curious.
