Where to buy a fake xmas tree?

Home Depot, Lowe's, Hobby Lobby.
Target and Wal-Mart would be the last places I would buy a tree.

I got mine last year at Menards and loved it.

I had trees from QVC that lasted for years. I just got tired of them and one was not pre-lit, so we didn't take it with us when we moved.

Our current tree comes from a store that during the summer it carries patio furniture and during the fall and winter it's all Christmas trees and decorations. We plan on getting another tree from there this year for our basement.

Costco and Sams have a small selection, but they always seem nice and the prices are very good,

We got ours from QVC it is 7' tall and pre-lit with 1100 lights. It has both white and/or multi and can be blinking or not. We've had it for a lot of years.

We bought ours at home depot after Christmas.

Look at Grandin Road on line. They have very nice trees @ a good price.

I bought my 6' pencil tree at Walmart last year and they had a large selection of gorgeous, very natural looking full size trees.

The one I bought at Home Depot is pre-lit and it has both white lights and colored lights. You can have all of them on at once, or just white or just colored.

When I was looking for the tree some people said "oh don't get pre-lit because when the lights stop working you'll be stuck." But I don't see it that way. I figure for as many years as they work it's that many years I don't have to string lights. Then when/if they do die I can decide if I want to string lights or just get a new tree. 

I've always had a fake tree. But I got one at target on 2003 that looks light years better than the one from my childhood and even that one looked good decorated. I bought it thinking it was temporary and would do for the year since it was $17.99 and cheaper than a real tree and I've never had to replace it, so I'll continue to use it until it falls apart.


It's 6 feet and not huge like the live tree my sister buys annually, but it works for us!

A garden center. They are going to carry high quality beautiful and realistic looking trees vs many of the big box discount stores.

These days even cheap, fake looking trees look fine once the decorations are all on.

But the thing is, you get all those years of not having to string lights if you buy pre-lit. Then when/if the lights die you can string your own. Or you could just buy another tree. 

I bought a pre-lit one that has both colored lights and white lights and you can have both on or just one or the other. If I do have to string my own someday I know I won't mind as much as when I had to do it with a real tree. That's because first of all I won't get stabbed as much. And second, taking them off will be way easier because I won't have pounds of needles coming off every time I try to pull the strand. Omg I hated those real trees. lol

My costco one was over $300 but I think it's a 7 footer?? Not sure what the 6 footer costs, but I highly recommend them. I got one a few years back and last year the lights stopped working. The company that made it had a huge influx of requests and couldn't guarantee a replacement part until after Christmas (it arrived early December but they could never give me an update all through November and said they were out stateside and were at the mercy of the plant overseas). In a panic and not wanting to be out that much money on a replacement tree, I called Costco and they said, 'of course we'll take it back, unless it's an electronic, there is no time limit on any exchange'. It was 2 years old...that is a LONG time to back a product. Took it back and ended up paying maybe $5 more (sales tax increase) for the new one. It uses a lot of the latest and greatest technology. I believe it has in pole electric so once you set it up, you don't have to go looking for light strands to connect from the various pieces, it all plugs together in the pole (the original one I got didn't, but I'm pretty sure the one we exchanged it for does...hubby does the assembling while I take pictures of the process) and I have the option for both white and multi lights, including a blink that goes between both options. My ONLY complaint is how pokey the tops of the trees are (the plastic is really good quality and hard to bend) so it isn't the easiest to get our tree topper on it, but it was worth the effort.
