I've now acquired a fair amount of poly clear stamps and a few cling mounted red rubber stamps. However, I only have a few random size (and style) clear acrylic stamping blocks.
I'd like to add to my stamping block collection, but I really have no idea what brands I have, nor what style/brand I should invest in.
Does anyone have a recommendations of preferred blocks or which ones to stay away from?
I do have a MISTI and a Stampoholic, but I've been doing some art journaling and started 'decorating' a planner just for fun and I'd like to use a stamp block to directly stamp on those items.
Thanks!

With the MISTI, I don't use acrylic blocks too often anymore but I have several sizes of Inkadinkadoo blocks that I wouldn't be without. I like the grid lines on them and the curved edges. They are inexpensive and you can find them at the local craft stores with coupons or Amazon.

Stampin Up are my very favorite! They are pricey so I've accumulated them slowly. Worth every dollar!

Thanks!
I do have a curvy one. No clue what brand it is - I'll check to see.
Love SU products. I thought I bought some awhile back - or at least thought about it. Now I wonder if they were in the box of goodies I gave my sister.LOL

Agree with scrappymom, I prefer SU! blocks too. Though my favorite SU! acrylic blocks are the ones that comes in their all inclusive kits.

I don't have a recommendation because my blocks are meh, but I will suggest getting multiple sizes. It really is best to use a block that is sized to your stamp. I find that if I use a tiny stamp on a big block that I don't get the best impression or I get extra ink on the paper.

This is the same for me I have various blocks and I like the Inkadinkadoo blocks I've gotten at Hobby Lobby with the grids. I also like the Close to my Heart blocks I've gotten. I prefer them to SU as they curve inwards where I hold them and I think the SU ones I've used are more outer curving.

I have the Stampaholic, but for blocks I prefer THESE blocks from Stampendous. I like them because they are curved where your fingers grip.

I have a whole set of SU blocks, and a whole set of CTMH blocks. But one I keep around as a multipurpose block, that I usually have in my desktop travel tote because it works with so many things, is this round block. It's a nice thickness and comfortable to hold.

For smaller stamps, different blocks are really all about the same to me. But I've been on a background kick lately, but I was having problems with the larger stamps. I got an Impression Obsessions rocking block with the handle and my images have been unbelievably perfect since. I'm truly in love!

Thanks for all of the suggestions. A wonderful sweet RefuPea recently RAK'd me some stamping blocks. They are wonderful and I really appreciated the gesture. I think I'm pretty well set now with all kinds and sizes, styles and brands of 'square' blocks. I think I am going to have a lot of fun with them.
I do like the round one that Eddie-n-Harley linked. I do have a few flowers shaped stamps and think that the round shape of the stamping block might be kind of handy.
I agree with Moraie that background stamps are tricky. I have one block that is large enough for the few background stamps I have. Unfortunately it is a very thin block and I think my fingers get in the way of stamping. I'm going to check out the rocking style of blocks for future purchase.
Thanks again!

Since I made my "Stamp Henge", I don't use the blocks much anymore but love the CTMH the best. Just don't clean ANYTHING acrylic with ALCOHOL!!! Just trust me on this!

I have the Tim Holtz set, which has a lot of different sizes and grids. They are thin, but I haven't found that to be a problem.

For background stamps, lay the stamp on the table face up, ink it, and put your paper on top. Place a piece of scratch paper on top of that and then rub your hands over top of the whole thing. You should get a good impression that way as long as you make sure to rub over the whole thing.

I have a set of Close to My Heart acrylic blocks. I like the curved edges. I have one gridded 3x4 block but I don't know where it's from!
