Good morning Peas! I finally go that page posted . It is raining here now-dark and gloomy! It will probably put me in a funk. I can watch my college games today and spend sometime scrapping! No other plans and I did some cleaning yesterday so may take today off. Next week will be busy here as I cook Thanksgiving dinner. I do have the girls bringing a dish so it will make things go a little easier. Unlike grammadee I can't start Christmas anything until after Thanksgiving. My brain will just not allow me to go there. LOL Grammadee what are butter tarts? The name makes them sound delicious! Well here is my layout and I will be back later! Thing 1&2-3 by Cindy Blair, on Flickr

I like your halloween page, scrapincin! I will leave some love in the Gallery. I couldn't believe you didn't know what butter tarts were, so I looked them up and discovered they are "a Canadian classic". They certainly are a classic in OUR house around the holidays! I have never made pecan pie, but I suspect the filling is much like that, just with raisins, instead. Here is the RECIPE for butter tarts I cheat and buy the premade tart shells, so they are really quick and easy to make. And mine don't look as perfect as the one in their example. I tend to cook them until the filling bubbles up. I also double up on the raisins, so the top would be bumpy even if they didn't bubble up. No one in the family ever comments on how they LOOK. (Except dh, who want to point out all the "culls", which he of course offers to eat so no one else will see them ) Dark and gloomy here too. I have a day of crafting in front of me. Donna (our nephew's wife) will be here soon to make Christmas cards. Have a great Saturday!

Happy Saturday! I hope you are all staying nice and warm this weekend. Even our weather is getting cooler. My dh and I are feeling better after that little cold got us last weekend. nylene - I knew your cupcakes would turn out great. How many did you make? Oh and your layout of your dgs is so cute! You said you weren't crazy about it but I loved it. scrapincin - Glad to hear you are up cooking even though your legs are bothering you. I hope your drs can figure out how to make you feel better. Hang in there! maribeth - Happy you are enjoying those Hallmark movies. I plan to jump in maybe next weekend. How is the decorating coming? grammadee - Oh boy you are making lots of goodies for the holidays. Like scrapincin , I have not heard of butter tarts either. Sounds good. I think I am gonna try a pumpkin pie this week. I gotta stop by the store and get a few things. justjac - Congrats to ya! We heard your play was a success! Was it just one performance or multiple shows?

Hello Ladies. Hope your weekend was a good one. Hope that if you are planning to celebrate Thanksgiving this week that your plans are working out well.
Focussing on Christmas, here. Yesterday I created a few more cards, and stamped the insides of all the ones I had already done. I started another batch with scraps, but ran out of steam and haven't gone back to them. This morning, I wrote a draft of our family Christmas letter, and gave it to dh to proofread. Guess having those cards almost ready to mail got me going on that. Also put together the arrangement of family photos I want to include, but before I can print it, I need to get some ink for my printer. I thought I had all the colours, but when I looked, I had only black.
This afternoon, dh & I went to the Sunday brunch of the local theatre group's play: The Odd Couple. It was an enjoyable afternoon, but I kept thinking about all the things I want/need to do around here. Tomorrow I hope to get a couple of types of cookie dough mixed up and into the fridge for baking on Tuesday. Then I plan to bake a third type. That will give me something to take with me when we go to play cards at a friend's house tomorrow evening.
I think winter has come to stay. The ground was white this morning, and the trees are covered in frost: really pretty. Dd called to say she didn't want to spend the day outside with their active 3 year old, so took him to the local arena where he could watch some hockey, climb up and down the stadium steps, play in the attached gym, and run up and down the ramps. He got a workout, and she got to stay warm.

Well another weekend of decorating! So far the little kitty has not bothered a thing. Making good progress, and I may actually get done before the end of my Thanksgiving four day work break. Usually it takes me all four days to complete the job, but we started a bit earlier. Hopefully I will actually get at least one of those days off in order to enjoy my time off.
Mission of Thanks Catch Up
Day 18 - Humor - Not really know for my "sense of humor" but I love to be able to find humor in things that could otherwise be embarrassing or awkward. Without Humor in my life I could easily end up making everything too serious to dark to dramatic. I love a good laugh. So I am thankful for Humor.
Day 19 - Community - I wish I had more of a community in my life. I admire those who have established community with their church families, neighbors, through clubs and other organizations. I have always been working and just really never had the time or the opportunity to be a part of a community. I am thankful for the community I live in as it is a small town, and although we don't socialize with each other as on might think living in a small town, there is a friendly vibe that exists here and I am thankful for that.
Day 20 - Heath - I am so very thankful for my good health. I have been blessed thus far to have not suffered any extensive health problems or issues. I do hope and pray this continues as I get older, but I can not complain, I have had good health.
Now for today - Day 21 - Weekends - Oh Yea! As you all know I am so very thankful for weekends. Of course right now with Holiday Home Decorating I work all weekend, but I am thankful I am able to do that as well. It makes be happy when it is all done. I love the weekends during our camping seasons so that we can go and explore and be a part of nature. I love the weekends the rest of the time for the opportunity to be in my home and with my husband. I sure wish I had more weekend days then weekdays.
Go forth my Pokey friends and have a wonderful Monday!

Hi, Pokeys! I am getting so far behind on this thread. I just have a few minutes before the kids will all be back for "more fun". Sammie has been busy doing some kind of "crafty" since they arrived Sat. night. Drew is often right with her, but Steve will keep him occupied this afternoon. Sammie made a bunch of Christmas tags with the Cuttlebug and dies, did some watercoloring and then used Stampin up butterfly dies to cut them out. She made a glittered glass ornament (without spilling a drop of glitter (whew) and has made several Perler bead projects. We have to clear her from the table to eat each meal!
Tomorrow after school is out we will start Cousin Camp. I may be worn out before the other 5 arrive. LOL!
I will try to catch up with everyone before the week is over. Sorry for being a lousy hostess this month.

I think you are an AWESOME host, nylene, with that house full of crafty grandkids! We will still be here when they have gone home again. Bet you and scrapincin are really honed in on preparing the holiday meal. What do you usually serve? Glad your decorating is going well, and kitty is cooperating, maribeth. I want to start that next week. Hoping to keep it pretty simple this year, but that is what I say every year! This week I am focusing on baking. Got my ginger snaps baked and in the freezer. Almond crisps will be ready to bake tomorrow, and gingerbread people the next day. How did your pumpkin pie baking go, kellyr21? And did you get your cards made? Just got home from card playing. Time to post my 30 Days of Thankful prompt, and then I am off to bed...

Mission of Thanks - Day 22 - Animals - I never thought I was much of an animal lover. I am not a "natural" care giver, so it is difficult for me to think about being someone that an animal (pet) depends on for EVERYTHING. But as God has sent us abandoned and unloved animals I have come to want to care for them all. I am thankful that God has trusted us with these precious pets. The bring me joy and unconditional love. The bring me peace and laughter, and when it is there time to go, they will bring me tears that will flow for days. But I am thankful for them everyday.
Only two more days until Turkey day......have a wonderful Tuesday.

Good evening Peas! Boy have I been busy! The next two days I will be in my kitchen! Maggie is spending the night tomorrow night to help me and we have a couple of projects for her to do. She will be making the "Pink Stuff" as she calls it. It is really called the mandarin orange salad-the one made with cottage cheese and jello. She is also making a cheese ball that will be looking like a a turkey as an appetizer. I will be doing pictures! Dinner is here Thursday. There will be 9 as far as I know. I am going to request prayers for my sister. She is very ill and may have to have surgery if they do not get the infection she has under control. She started with an abscess and they gave her large doses of antibiotics which in turn gave her C Diff-an infection in her colon. They treated her for it but she has relapsed. They may have to do a temporary colostomy to rest the colon until they get the infection completely cleared then reverse the colostomy. She is so sick she can barely talk to me on the phone. They admitted her 2 days ago when she went to the ER with a temp of 102. Well I could probably go on forever but I won't. grammadee you just remind me of the energizer bunny and Timex watches You just keep on running! nylene I know you are sleeping good cuz those grandchildren at cousin camp are wearing you out! I know it is kellyr21- I am glad you and Ron are feeling better! I hope you tried your pie as it is one of the easier ones to make unless you are making it from an actual pumpkin. maribeth - so good to see you back on the boards. You were greatly missed. In case I don't get back before Thursday I am wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving and I am thankful for having all of you as friends! Hugs to all of you!

A quiet day here today in contrast with the frantic preparations most of you are doing. Dd and the little man will be here for the weekend, but I am waiting until Friday to clean house in preparation for that. She has promised to help me get my Christmas tree and decorations upstairs while she is here, so I want to clear the beginning of next week for decorating (the last half of next week will be spent in Calgary with a couple of little boys), so I want to focus on baking this week. I rearranged my freezers to free up some room for the baking containers. Have to store what I made yesterday--almond crisps and choco-cherry bells--and then I need to roll out, cut, decorate and bake my gingerbread people. I use baked on icing, so once those little guys are out of the oven, they are FINISHED! Yesterday I started some cards for my deceased brother's family. I didn't think it was fair to send them all the "Merry & Bright" ones I had already created. Found a SU! stamp that says "Thinking of you this Christmas", and decided to design their cards around that. Finished thoose cards this morning and when I get some light I will post a pic of one. Here it is: 2016 Thinking of You by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Wishing you all a wonderful Wednesday! Hope your sister is doing better this morning, scrapincin .

Good evening Peas! Thought I would stop by for a minute to let you know that your prayers have helped! They have stopped her Iv's and she is on liquids. The surgeon said she's about to turn the corner. She really has been blessed! I just hope it continues. grammadee you are really educating me! I had to google baked on icing as I had never heard of it but I may be trying it out! I don't know about the chocolate cherries either but will be checking them out in a little bit. My sweet Maggie is here and we have been busy. We will be busier tomorrow morning but that will be good. Be back mlater.

Happy Thursday and Thanksgiving! Wishing all you usa gals a great day. I did cook and decided to make a turkey breast instead of the whole bird. So this is my first time making a breast so I hope it comes out good. I used the dry brine method with salt and it is supposed to make the meat moist and well seasoned. Fingers crossed. So my menu is turkey, cornbread dressing, green beans, sweet potatos, cranberry sauce and pumpkin pie. I didn't get to make the pie but I do plan to make a pumpkin pie soon. But for now the store bought one will have to do. nylene- Your Sammie sounds like a "mini Nylene"! LOL! How cute! I hope your cousin's camp went well and your dinner. grammadee- Your baking sounds wonderful! Also, that is a great idea to bake lots of things ahead of time to share over the season. I still have to get back to my Christmas cards. Are you done with all yours? Not sure how many I will make. I usually sell some and then have some to use with my loved ones. So gotta figure that out. scrapincin- Oh and am glad your sis is better. Hang in there! Looks like you got a big family dinner coming too. Glad your dgd was able to help. She is a great little helper and I know she will remember these moments for a long time. Hope you enjoy all the football today and this weekend too.

So glad your sister is doing better, scrapincin ! kellyr21, I have "finished" my Christmas cards. At least I have enough to mail out this year. But I haven't put away all my pretties, and if I see a design I want to try, I will probably give it a whirl for the fun of it. I have the Christmas letter ready for printing today when I get into town. The same is true with my baking. I am "finished", but might bake something else if the spirit moves me... Happy Thanksgiving!!! I am a little jealous of all the fun you are all having, all the people you have around you, and all the delicious food you are eating today. I started the day putting my cookies from yesterday in the freezer, clearing off the dining room table and moving my craft stuff back into my scraproom, but then I got distracted and started on a gift I am making for someone. When I took a break, I saw a card in "Cardmaking & Papercrafting", a UK magazine I picked up last week, and realized I had all the tools to make it--or a faximile, anyway. Here it is: 2016 winter scene by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Now I am off to pick up my calendar pages from the printer and then will be meeting dh at his seniors' club for a pancake supper and maybe a game of cards. Have a great Thursday, everyone!

Wow I am really tired! I have been up and going since 5AM. Dinner was nice and I enjoyed spending the day with my family. I wanted to hop in here to let you know they have moved my sister out of Critical Care onto a step down unit. She is still sick but is not requiring the same amount of urgent care. I just know that to me it means she is doing better! I hope you all had a wonderfil holiday and that our sweet Canadian friends enjoyed their day too. grammadee i left you some love in the gallery. Akellyr21- I glad you got to cook your special meal today and spend it with Ron. Also when you get around to that pie you will really enjoy it. Ok closing for now but will be back later. Happy Friday, Ladies! Hope all the moms and grammas have recovered from all the prep and cooking for yesterday! I am talking to YOU: nylene, scrapincin, LisaDV, maribeth! And look at you, kellyr21, cooking up a mini Thanksgiving Day feast! And justjac, I hope your day at work is a good one. I don't know what your plans are for today. Some people get all excited about all the deals out there on black Friday in the US or on Boxing Day here in Canada, but I prefer to just RELAX the day after the big festivities. I have long declared Boxing Day my favorite holiday of all: nothing to cook, wrap, decorate, or prepare! Nowhere to go; nothing to buy. No To-Do list. Everyone is relaxed and we eat whenever we are hungry, everyone fixing their own. We usually spend the day playing cards or other board games, or--because BD follows Christmas--discovering and enjoying new playthings. The house is calm, and peaceful... Hoping that whatever you decide to do, it is an enjoyable day for you and yours. My plans for today are to clean house. Dd & little man will be here for the weekend. Yesterday, I got all my scrap crap off the dining room table. Today, I need to finish cleaning and vacuuming the kitchen and living rooms, and do a quick clean upstairs. My scraproom remains a royal mess, but I will just shut the door... Tomorrow the local town has Christmas Extravaganza all day, so we will be going in for that at least twice I think (before and after Little Man's nap). Looks like lots of fun things to do, so I think I will take my camera and try to get some Christmas season photos.

Hey ladies! I have been lurking lately. I hope everybody had a great Thanksgiving. Since we had ours last month yesterday and today are just regular days. Except that I got home from work yesterday and discovered our furnace was not working. Since the temperature has been hovering around freezing this was a concern. DH tried to fix it himself, but realized it was a bigger problem than the last time. Fortunately, a repairman was able to come fairly quickly. $750 later we had heat again which I was very grateful for. kellyr21 thanks for asking about the play. It went really well. We did 4 shows: Wednesday night, Thursday afternoon, Thursday night, and Friday night. We usually do a Saturday show, but the theater was already booked for an event. It was so nice that grammadee and her DH were able to attend. scrapincin my head is fully recovered. It was just a bit sore the next day, but that was it. I'm glad your sister is doing better. That cheese ball turkey is so cute! Have you done any Black Friday shopping? I ordered some Izinks inks that I want to try and a few digital kits. My LSS is having a sale today and tomorrow, so I will probably head there tomorrow. Have a great day!

Is that quiet I hear? It seems so strange not to hear the babbling and laughing of a houseful of children. We had a wonderful time at Cousin Camp. When the moms came to get them, they all stayed and visited for a couple of hours. Then we got up Thanksgiving morning and went out to oldest DD's home where they all congregated again. It was crazy and lots of fun. scrapincin, I am so sorry to hear about your sister. I am hoping that she is making improvements each day. She is in my prayers and you and your family too. How are the legs doing with the med changes? I love Maggie's turkey and her cute haircut. justjac, apparently your play was a hit. You got a great review from grammadee. How did you feel about it? Sorry about your heating problem and bill. That's never fun in the middle of winter. kellyr21, your cupcakes were a total hit. There was frosting all over the table, but the kids had such fun. I made a huge batch so that I could have a lot of bags and tips available. A couple of the older girls made roses much better than mine! They want to do this every Cousin Camp. grammadee, you are always so busy with your baking and freezing and tending children. Isn't it fun to be a grandma? Your town extravaganza sounds fun. Have fun. No Black Friday-ing for us. I can't stand the crowds! maribeth, how was your Thanksgiving? Did you do all the work? I hope it was great and that you had some family around. LisaDV, tell us about your Thanksgiving? Are you a Black Friday shopper? Hope your family is all well now. I'm kind of exhausted. I feel like I could sleep for a week. Angie and family left this morning because a big storm is headed for the mountain range they have to cross. I hated to see them all go. Sammie and I had so much fun together. Have a great "rest of the weekend" my favorite Pokeys. I'll check back again later.

I finished a these cards for Card Club the week before the kids all arrived. I just forgot to post them. I used Doodlebug cut files from the Silhouette Design store. They have some really cute designs. Typewriter Cards by Nylene Budge, on Flickr It doesn't seem possible that December will arrive in 4 more days. Hello all and Happy Thanksgiving weekend, grammadee, I really love your calendar cover page. I wish we could have all went to see justjac's play. I'm so glad you were there to support her in person. I LOVE your winter scene card so much. I need a holiday like how you celebrate boxing day - letting everyone fix their own and do their own thing. Actually I could use a month of that. nylene, Your Lighting speed title is fantabulous! The layout is adorable too. I laughed at Alex wanting flames on him too -- so cute. Your typewriter cards are adorable as well. Your cousin camp just sounds like so much fun. I want to come join the kids for crafty fun. scrapincin, so sorry to hear about your sister. I'm glad she is doing better. I will keep her in my prayers. I hope changing your meds helps your legs. Cute Halloween page. I actually have a Thing 1 & 2 page to do as well. Maggie's cheeseball turkey is so festive. I'm sure it was the hit of the day. maribeth, I'm so enjoying reading your Mission of Thanks posts. kellyr21, I usually do the wet brine, so I'm very curious as to how dry brine worked? justjac, that so stinks about your furnace. I feel ya'. I had the chimney people in last month and the inside lining had fallen in (probably last year when the leveled the house). So no fire for us this year, which worries me as we frequently lose electricity in the winter with the snow buildup. Before it was no big deal, just keep the fire burning and I could cook on top of the wood burner if I really needed to. Now I need to get the furnace serviced since it will be our main heat source this year. Glad you were able to quickly get yours back up and going. I enlisted the help of my family for Thanksgiving dinner this year. I threatened no meal. Since they wanted one, I told them it wasn't fair that I spent all day in the kitchen while each one of them lollygagged around. I made it super easy on them though. DD made the pies with me the day before. I brined the turkey and made all of the appetizers which was our lunch and the stuffing. DS made the rolls. Don cooked the turkey and made the sweet potatoes, potato dumplings, and the cabbage. We played a board game called Talisman. It is the LONGEST GAME EVER!!!! We started around noon, because that's when I served appetizers, we broke to walk the dogs once, and during the finally prep stages of cooking, and for the meal. I died somewhere between 7-7:30. One hour later dd had won the game. It's ds favorite game and I have thus far avoided playing it. Way to long. lol. It was fun though. Friday, I did order some of my presents from Amazon. I wanted to get Don an ice auger for Christmas and it was the only thing I was really looking for on black Friday sales. But I wanted to get a top rated one and the deals were on lesser quality ones that I'm sure are just fine. But I still purchased one of the top rated ones from my research. It'll probably go on sale next week. Yesterday was reserved for the Netflix Gilmore Girls Year In The Life Episodes. The whole family watched with me. Today, I took in the king size comforter that doesn't fit in my washer and the rugs as I don't like to put them in my washer. Then I ran errands. The family cleaned off the back wall of the living room. I'm going to start painting tomorrow. It has had ugly purple colored walls since we bought the place. I never want to scrapbook any pictures I take. I realized that it would be at least 2 years before we really tackle that room, so I told Don it had to be painted before Christmas décor could go up. So that will be my week. Oh, and my computer died. Like will not turn on - died. I was going to order a new one. I'm very particular about my computers. I'm using Don's laptop now. So if you see multiple typos, like a letter thrown in that obviously doesn't go, it's because while typing on the keyboard, the cursor just jumps to another spot. Very annoying in my first world issues. Don's going to take the computer in and see what's wrong with it. Maybe they can replace what's wrong. One more thing, I think I'm at 107 layouts for the year which is amazing for me and I can thank Calvinball and then our own Calvinball styled event here at 2psRefugees for that number. Sorry to write a book, but I've been MIA for over a week. I hope to be better, but no promises.

Good evening everyone!I know it's late but it has been a long day. Good to see everyone the past couple of days I guess with the holiday everyone found an extra couple of minutes! LisaDV -you might want to save your money on the computer. My laptop does the same thing and I have been trying to figure out the floating cursor for the entire 7 years I have had it. If it has the touch thing instead of a mouse I believe it is your hand drags across while you're typing. It does drive you nuts...that's what's wrong with me-chasing the cursor for 7 years lol Here I thought Monopoly was the longest game with Trivial Pursuit coming in second! Belive it or not my legs are gradually going down! They are a little better each day. I am in he middle of a layout about Maggie's turkey. I saw that on Pinterest and showed it to her and she did not hesitate to say she wanted to make it. I am going to close for now as I can barely keep my eyes open. See ya tomorrow!

Good evening, Ladies! Nice of you to drop in, nicolep ! Good to hear from you, LisaDV . Thanks for your comments on the cards and pages. Glad you had such a great family centred Thanksgiving, even if the game was a long one. These are the experiences your kids will remember: both the sharing the workload and playing the game. Those are darling cards, nylene . Left some love in the Gallery. I'm with Lisa on this: would love to join you and the dgk's for Cousin Camp. Sounds like a hoot. It's so cool that when you add an activity, they decide it needs to be added to EVERY cousin camp. Hope you are recovering in your quiet house! How is your sister today, scrapincin ? Sending healing vibes her way. How is the home decorating going, maribeth ? Glad you got the furnace fixed so quickly, justjac . Way too cold to have no heat! It was good talking to you today. Glad you are finally getting some down time after all the work of the play. We were in town twice today. This morning, dd & I took the little man in to the function at the school that included pancake breakfast, a book fair, petting zoo, and craft fair. He was nervous about the mascots (the Grinch and Clifford the big red dog) so we didn't get any photos taken. Dd & I took turns entertaining him and taking him for laps around the unused hallways in the school so we each had a little time to check out the craft sale. Home for nap time (all 3 of us LOL), then back into town for a pizza supper and to watch the Christmas parade. He went down to sleep really quickly tonight, and dd has gone upstairs to watch Gilmore Girls on her laptop. So I will be posting the gratitude prompt and then off to bed myself, I think. Tomorrow the plan is to deep clean the living room and set up the Christmas tree. That should be fun with help from a 3 year old! Will let you know how it goes...

But my keyboard is on a sliding keyboard tray at the perfect height and the laptop sets on the desk top which is already too high. Glad your swelling is going down.

Just stopping by to give you an update on my sister. She is doing better everyday but they still do not want to release her. She is still nauseous and having iv antibiotics. They said if this comes back again they will have to remove her entire colon. That would not be a good thing. She is allowed to start back on solid foods but slowly. So I keep praying for her to get completely better and no relapses.
I am going to be in my scrap room later working on a layout and maybe make some tags for Christmas gifts. May be back on here before the evening is over.

Good Sunday evening! Our tree is up: the decorations are a bit lop sided, but the little man had a blast helping. He even helped with the vacuuming, and his mom helped with moving the furniture! They left after naptime so they could have supper with his dad who had to work all weekend. After they left, I finished 3 more pages for my Gratitude album. All ready for the prompts now until Wednesday! I also took a few minutes to watch the Lesson 1 videos from "Your Christmas Story" class at Get It Scrapped. Printed off the prompts. Not sure if I will have time to do anything with it this year, but on the other hand when I DO get to scrapping November and December, it may form a nice framework. Tomorrow I want to do a little more decorating. Not going all crazy with it this year, but I DO want to set up my displays on the tops of the china cabinets, and get the Christmas table cloths on. Glad your sister continues to improve, scrapincin. It will be a long process, but hopefully there will not be too many setbacks. Hope you get your computer issues solved, LisaDV. When my last one refused to turn on for me, the shop was still able to extract my data to put on an external hard drive that I could then use with my next computer.

Hey everybody! grammadee it sounds like you had a fun day! We got our outside decorations up, but our tree will have to wait until next weekend. I haven't watched the videos yet, but I did finish my layouts for lesson 1. I am linking them in a Your December Story thread. scrapincin I'm glad you and your sister are doing better. nylene your cards are so cute! LisaDV I hope your furnace makes it. It sounds a little nerve wracking to lose your back up source of heat. My DH and I joined our friends for games night last night. We had a lot of fun. Today we got our grocery shopping done and then I went to a home party selling tea. I sampled quite a few and spent more money. This has been an expensive weekend. I'm off to make my lunch for tomorrow and pick out my clothes. Sleep well.

Mission of Thanks - Catch Up
Day 23 - Family - oh how thankful I am for family. Although my family could be closer, I love the fact that my family seems to be okay with the fact that we do all have independent lives. When we get together it is always fun and laughter. Of course my husband, the closest family I have is a treasure. I am thankful that we never have hard words, and that we are always thinking of how our actions impacts the other and we take that into consideration before we make any decisions. I am thankful that I know no matter what happens he will always be there for me.
Day 24 - Books - oh how I wish I read more. I just never developed the habit. I love reading while I am camping. I guess it is the only place I feel like I don't have to do something "productive" so I can relax with a good read. I like non-fiction especially historical books about the area I am visiting, and biography's/autobiography's. I love the touch and feel of a book, and can not get into the e-reader craze at all. My favorite books of course well SCRAPBOOKS, of course.
Day 25 - Faith, I don't actively participate in a church, but I speak to God often. I thank him for many little things in that happen in my day. Like when I am looking for something important and can't find it, when I find it, I know it was He who led me too it. I find it comforting to know that at any time He is always there for me to speak with. I think the general term "Faith" is important for anyone to have, no matter what religion they choose to be a part of, I would think life would be empty without without "Faith"
Day 26 - Today - Yikes don't I have to be thankful for today! Well in the big picture of course I am thankful that I have today. I am thankful to wake up to everyday. But.......Today means back to work, Today I have to think about the decorating I didn't quite finish, Today is going to be a very busy day at work and I am going to be alone (I am so thankful my co-workers are not coming in today - I have to say I miss my alone time at work). But Yes, even with all the things Today brings, I am certainly thankful that I have TODAY!
Day 27 - Thanksgiving - well of course I had a wonderful turkey dinner! But the larger meaning of Thanksgiving. I am thankful that there is a day for us to sit down and reflect on the history of our country, on the meaning of breaking bread and sharing a meal with others. Although my lifestyle prevents me from participating with others on this day (because I am always decorating), I do find the coming together of family and friends a wonderful way to take time to be thankful for this Thanksgiving tradition.
and now Today (in real time)
Day 28 - Tradition. I don't know that I can say I am thankful for my own traditions, but I am thankful for Tradition as a concept. Since I watch the Hallmark movies non-stop this time of year, the ones that have a theme of a Tradition that is carried on through the years are always especially touching to me. Because of my love of history, Tradition (even when not holiday related) is important because it keeps those practices of yesteryear alive and available for those of us here and now to learn about and possibly experience.
Have a great Monday Pokey's.

Good afternoon everyone. Stopping by to post a layout I finished last night at about midnight. But I was having fun with it so had to finish it. Then I was up for another hour and back up at 6:30. I am a little crazy you know. I have been busy today doing chores. I actually had one of the red-tailed hawks in my flower bed this morning and them he went after a bird at the feeders I just put up. I may have to take the feeders down as I am not going to use them as his hunting grounds. I know that it is nature but I am not going to make the birds free grabbing. I was shocked when I heard about the attack at Ohio State today. They are still trying to figure out if it is related to Isis. I just do not understand what is going wrong with this world. Anyway here's my layout. It should make you smile! maggies gobbler by Cindy Blair, on Flickr I will be back later

LisaDV , how are the computer problems? They are such wonderful machines when they work correctly. So is your furnace ready to go and keep you warm this winter? Will fixing the chimney for your fireplace be an big project? justjac , and grammadee , I am jealous that your Christmas decorations are up. It will be a while before I have the gumption to get going. I'm still coming down from Cousin Camp. scrapincin , your layout is delightful. That's such a perfect photo of her with the turkey. What a cutie! I was so sorry to hear about the mayhem at Ohio State today. I thought of you immediately. What is wrong with people lately? I am hoping (and praying) that your sister is improving each day. I'm sure she didn't plan to spend her holidays like this! Hugs to her and you. maribeth , thank you for your thankful mission. I am so grateful for my dear family. Spending time with them all last week was the best time I've had in a long time. I am grateful for my faith and all that that entails. I am grateful for books and books and books. I read less right now than I used to, but that's probably a good thing. I love Thanksgiving and our traditional dishes and activities. I am grateful for today, for good health to do something good with today. Tonight I am in charge of our Annual Siblings dinner. My siblings are coming down from the SLC area.I picked the date in October, so of course we had a huge storm today. I'm hoping the roads will be OK for them. I have something terrible to confess. On Saturday I was banned from Pinterest!!! I have no idea what I did or why that happened. I have sent emails for help getting an explanation and re-instatement, but have been ignored. I am just sick. I didn't realize how often I turned to Pinterest for ideas. Anyone have any ideas for me? I feel like I broke a law or something. I'm just waiting for a sheriff to show up on my doorstep! I don't think I've ever been banned from anything! Oh my!!
