Happy Monday! Is everyone feeling back to normal or having a turkey hangover? LOL! We had a very nice time over the holiday. My dry brined turkey breast came out great! So flavorful and pretty moist too. I had to free style the cooking time at the end and it turned out fine. I definitely want to make my own pumpkin pie next time. We got one from the store and it was terrible!!! I don't know what they didn't do but the texture was gelatin like and the crust was soft. I have so much to catch up here so I will and come back later to chat. Hugs to you all!

Good Monday evening! Glad your turkey breast turned out so well, kellyr21 . And good luck when you decide to bake that pie! So happy your sister is doing better, scrapincin ! That must have been scary for everyone. Glad you are recovering from Cousin Camp, nylene . When you are rested up, I am sure you will get into the decorating activities. I started the day doing some paperwork that had been piling up. Paid some bills. Got some information. Submitted an insurance claim. Updated my 2017 calendar with birthdays and anniversaries and other important dates, and my mailing list for Christmas cards, and printed them both off. Ho. Hum. I realized when looking at the calendar dates that I needed to make a couple of bd cards for December, so I did that. Here they are: 3 star bd by Gramma Dee, on Flickr Carol 2016 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr This afternoon I dug out a tub of Christmas decorations and set them out on the top of one china cabinet. And I found the tub that contains my Christmas village I want to put on the top of the other cabinet and a tub full of angels I want to set out in the living room. Hope to set those out tomorrow morning while dh is in town. I am using the emptied tubs to store the various knick knacks currently in those spots. Also found my Christmas movies and Christmas music. Maybe I will put in some CD's while I decorate tomorrow. At least that is what I HOPE I will be doing tomorrow. Having some issues with one of our freezers since a power outage the other day. I shut off the breaker just now and hoping when I turn it back on the compressor and the keyboard on the front will work properly. If not, we may be freezer shopping tomorrow. GRRRR... Anyway, off to turn the breaker back on and then I will come back to the board to post my Gratitude prompts for the rest of the month (2 days). ETA: Good news, I hope! I turned on the breaker and the compressor cut in. It has been running for quite awhile now. Hoping it is actually cooling the interior, but I don't want to open the door to check. Will look in there tomorrow.

I have been FREED and must be on parole!Early this morning my Pinterest was still blocked. I was using my daughter's account (shh, don't tell them) to look for a tag on one of my boards. I accidentally closed it and when I went to sign in again, I tried my own sign in. It worked. No note from Pinterest to tell me why they banned me. I don't know if they think I did something wrong, or if it was an error. Whichever, it's nice to have my boards back! kellyr21, I am so glad your turkey turned out great. You will be much more comfortable doing it next time. And you will find that homemade pumpkin is much better than purchased pumpkin pie. I'm glad you had a great Thanksgiving. scrapincin, I am so grateful that your sister has recovered enough to go home. I hope she never has a bout like that again. I'm sure you are very relieved. grammadee, I love your cards. I'll leave love on them when I finish this post. I hope your freezer is going to keep running and keep cooling! Do you have cold and snowy weather right now? My sibling dinner got cancelled because of the huge snowstorm. No one from north of here could get through. So we just had dinner with Emily and Doug and had a party of 4 instead of 10. We have about 6-8 inches here and it was worse in the north. I finished a layout and will post it later. I will try to get the new thread up tomorrow evening.

That's a lot of snow, nylene! We have barely enough to cover the ground here. I think more has been promised for this weekend. I plan to drive to Calgary Wednesday to stay with the little ones for the weekend, so I am hoping it holds off until I am there. Too bad about the sibling dinner! Do you have a lot of leftovers? Or had you planned to eat out? Thanks for asking aboaut the freezer. I didn't sleep very well, getting up to see what the freezer was doing, but it reads 4 degrees F now, and the compressor shut down at least once and has started at least once. Not sure its thermostat works. The food inside is frozen. Pretty solid, I think, but better than NOT frozen. Last night I moved the vegetables to one of the larger freezers downstairs, and I think I will leave them there for awhile. Because I am kind of dozy and because dh had decided to stay home this morning, I limited the decorating I had planned to do. Hard to decorate in the dining room when you have someone sitting there reading the sports scores on his Ipad. We want to book a family vacation in Orlando for the summer of 2018, so because I got an email from RCI (our time share exchange people) this morning, I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with them, and managed to book 3 of the 5 units we will be needing. The other two will be booked sometime during the next calendar year. Booking now, we got a bit of a cost saving, and it gives everyone a year and a half to plan their work and travel schedules. (And they'll have to save some money, , because all Grampa & I are covering is the accommodation!) And I made a card for Jacob who will be turning 3 in a couple of weeks. I am taking his gifts with me when I drive down that way. 123 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr The lack of sleep is starting to catch up with me, so going for a nap now!

nylene - Oh so happy to hear your dgks love the cupcake deco. I know how they feel and I plan to do more too. Yes, I do think the more I practice cooking turkey I will be more confident. I will definitely try this turkey breast again. So good! scrapincin - What a relief to hear your dsis is back home. Wishing here more good health. That was so surprising to hear about the shooting yesterday. I hope and pray everyone is recovering. So scary! grammadee - Your trip to Orlando sounds fun. My dh loves Disneyland and went to that one years ago. I hear it is so big it could take days to really see more of the park. LisaDV - Glad your Thanksgiving went well too. All your helpers really stepped up and did a great job. The dry brine worked great on my turkey. I just used salt butI saw another method with salt, butter and herbs. I may try that one next time. Waving to you all maribeth , justjac and Jana!

scrapincin, such a cute layout. nylene, the chimney will need to come down completely and be rebuilt. We were going to do it, but was hoping for a few years. We can expect in to run about 15,000, but I have found it best to double all estimates when dealing with an old house. Plus, we are going to change the location... Our furnace works, but I haven't had it service since it was installed and you should have them looked at yearly. oops. I would not so upset if I could not pin things. I live for pinterest. Glad you are finally back in. grammadee, all of those cars are so cute. A family vacation sounds so fun. We hope that we'll do this with our kids. I forgot to send my computer with Don so he could drop it off for looking into, which means I'm stuck with this laptop for longer. I have a 24" monitor on my tower computer and this little screen is really irritating me. lol. first world problems, I know. Waving hi to everyone.

LisaDV, congrats on becoming an UnstopPEAble Pea! Great job! I'm sorry your chimney is going to be such a big job. I hope the furnace checks out OK. Winter is upon us. grammadee, we had planned to eat out, but I had made arrangements with a local restaurant for a whole room reserved for us since my brother complained that the last time we ate there it was too noisy to chat. They were so nice about canceling. The 4 of us went and there were very few people in the restaurant. it's our first big snow and the roads were terrible. I think people just stayed home! We are expecting more snow tonight and all day tomorrow. I'm ready for Spring already. Have a nice last day of the month tomorrow!!

What a headache with the chimney, LisaDV. Will you be able to function without that being done before next summer? It's Wednesday morning, and I need to get moving soon to pack up and get onto the road. Driving to calgary today, then staying with the 2 little guys while ds & ddil have a weekend in Vegas. I have packed up my Christmas cards and mailing list, and my 2017 calendars with the copied pages to go into them and the list of special dates to write in, just in case I have any energy after boy wrangling each day. Hope you keep that snow down there nylene, at least until I get to their house. Have a wonderful Wednesday, everyone!
