My house had a funk smell. 2 cats, 2 dogs, lots of chickens, rain/wet ground. It smelled funky in here. I put out a glass of white vinegar and when I came in today I noticed... nothing. No smell at all. Seriously how does that stuff work!?
So many great uses for white vinegar and it's cheap. Other favorite uses?

I use white vinegar instead of fabric softener. Works great with towels.

I met a guy from Japan once and his family business was making vinegar and they had been doing it for 500 years or more. That was their thing. They produced all the vinegar in the region. It's magical stuff. I put it in the washing machine, in the coffee pot to clean it out. It goes in salad dressing, on fish n chips and truly gets rid of any funky smell anywhere. I used it to get out dog pee when I was out of Nature's Miracle, too. It worked.

White vin and peroxide in a spray bottle , spray on mold. It vanishes and pretty much doesnt come back. The short answer is: - Don't! The longer answer is: never mix hydrogen peroxide and vinegar together in one container. The resulting chemical, peracetic acid, can harm you when mixed together this way if you accidentally create a strong concentration in this fashion.

I am sure I am the only person in the world who can not stand vinegar on clothing. Mother would hang clothes in the basement during the winter. They would mildew , then she would wash them with vinegar. Great mildew and vinegar plus the smell of wood stove. Yup. Who needs perfume when you can smell like old pioneer.

I just bought another huge jug of vinegar from Costco. I couldn't live without it. I use it to freshen up the litter boxes as I am cleaning them. I scrub them out, then give them a good squirt down with vinegar and let them sit. I know they don't need rinsing at that point, but I do, and they are fresh and clean and ready to use again.
I wash all the animal dishes by hand because I feed them upstairs. I wipe them all out with vinegar before using dish soap because the dog bowl has a slimy feeling on it that just doesn't feel clean with regular soaping. I squirt it with vinegar, scrub a little, rinse, then wash them normally and they are squeaky clean.
I have been using Organic apple cider vinegar after I shampoo my hair with this new organic shampoo bar. I can't believe how soft it feels after the vinegar rinse! It is supposed to be really good for your scalp too.
I had a problem with some animal peeing on the water fountain that is right by my front door. We don't know if it is someone's dog or cat, or one of the wild animals like a possum or raccoon that is doing it. I squirt the area down with vinegar and not only did it take the urine smell away, it stopped them from peeing there again I guess they don't like the smell of vinegar.
I use it in my tea kettle and coffee maker to rid them of water stains and buildup of deposits.
I soak the animal's water bowl and electric water fountain thing in vinegar to remove the water deposits.
I'm sure this is TMI, but during a water shortage, we don't flush pee down in the toilets at night. I add either vinegar or bleach to the toilet so it isn't gross and then flush it in the morning. I guess you have to live in an area where they are really watching your water consumption to do something like that. We learned to do that years ago when they had that slogan, "If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down" advertising to reduce your flushing habits.
*** (Start PSA) Okay, do not mix bleach and pee. I drink so much water that my pee is valery diluted, almost never yellow, and has never reacted with the bleach, but your experience may be different and very dangerous. (End PSA)***
Oh, I use vinegar and sand in the vintage bottles and jars I have unearthed from my sister's property. We found bottles that were really old and cleaned them up with the vinegar mix to be sparkling and clear again.
That's all I can think of at the moment.

We have been dealing with tiny fruit flies in our kitchen. I put a small container of apple cider vinegar and dawn dishwashing liquid in my kitchen tonight after dinner and already have at least 4-5 dead flies in there.

I've tried it several times but no dice. I've tried the version where you put plastic wrap over it and puncture tiny holes so they can get in but not out. Next I did the version where you just kept enough Dawn bubbles in it to trap them. I've tried white vinegar AND apple cider vinegar. Some pea help me out? LOL

For sparkling clean teeth brush with baking soda and spray a little vinegar in your mouth with the baking soda. It bubbles up and cleans them slick and shiny.

I had two sweaters that smelled like BO. I haven't been able to wear them for months. Googled how to get the smell out - vinegar and baking soda. Hmmm. I figured what the heck I'll give it a try. I sprinkled baking soda in the pit area, put them in a bucket and poured white vinegar over it all. (love the foamy action). I left it all together for a couple of hours, swishing it around every so often. Poured all of it in the washer, added some Woolite and after a wash and air dry they smell great. I wore one of them today and no smell, not even a subtle whiff.

cadoodlebug, I think you have warned me about this before. It certainly stands to reason that ammonia and bleach would cause a noxious issue, but I've been doing it for years without any problem. I do drink a tremendous amount of water every day, maybe my pee is so diluted that it has never been a problem. I will make the effort to switch to the vinegar when doing that and save the bleach for cleaning it. :0

One day I didn't realize the toilet hadn't been flushed after I had added bleach and I peed. I seriously almost didn't make it out of the bathroom. I truly thought I might have damaged my lungs. Unfortunately people who read your tip might not have diluted urine like you do.

They would mildew , then she would wash them with vinegar. Great mildew and vinegar plus the smell of wood stove. Yup. Who needs perfume when you can smell like old pioneer. Ah, the vinegar smell dissipates pretty quickly when it dries. When DD was little, she loved wearing anything made of polar fleece (still does). Anything that got peed on up through the potty training years would stink unless it was washed with white vinegar. I would keep those clothes in a small bin in the laundry tub, dump a bunch of vinegar over the stinky clothes with some water, swish it around, dump the whole mess into the washer with detergent and they would come out smelling perfectly fresh and clean. It also works great to keep towels from getting skunky. I use it to get the hard water buildup off of faucets and fixtures and shower doors. I mix it half and half with Dawn dish soap in one of those scrubby dish wand things and leave it in the shower. After I'm done showering, I scrub down the tile and shower doors with the wand, rinse them down and everything is shiny clean! It also works great to get funky smells off of my hands. Did you know you can fix battery operated stuff that had a corroded battery with it? Pull out the nasty battery and as much of the chunks of stuff as you can pick out, put some vinegar on a cotton swab and wipe out all the rest of the dried up gunk. It will sizzle and foam so you probably want to have some kind of eye protection and maybe gloves. Wipe it out with a paper towel and let it get completely dry, then put in new batteries and be amazed when your thing works again! I fixed a toy that my neighbor thought was ruined that way, and she thought I was a miracle worker. We get our vinegar in those giant 3 gallon jugs at Costco and use it all over the house.

Apple cider vinegar is an absolute miracle on small burns. I had a plastic pasta spoon that I used to use to stir noodles as they were cooking. I put it down once and it must have rolled close to the burner, because when I picked it up, it was so hot it burned a spot on the underside of my forearm pretty badly. (My skin stuck to the plastic. ) I immediately put my arm under cool running water, got out the apple cider vinegar and soaked it in that and applied ice. I thought for sure I'd have a scar. My skin marks too easily. But nope. It was barely noticeable the first couple of years and then even that faint mark was gone. My mother in law used to make a wilted lettuce salad whose dressing was made with bacon drippings and vinegar. It sounded disgusting but actually tasted pretty good.
