So you are saying you don't like name calling?

So Trump is the devil incarnate because he insults, degrades, calls people names and bullies them, yet here on this board, the left seems to take great glee in being a bully, calling people names etc.  

Dare I say it again...HYPOCRISY.  You simply need to look in the mirror to see the very thing you hate so much about Trump.  

I know Obama has been (sometimes mercilessly) bashed for more than 8 yrs.  And while I think there have probably been some personal attacks directed at people here, I don't recall it being as rabid as it is now.  

IMO, there's a difference between the left attacking, insulting, degrading, and disrespecting TRUMP and/or his policies.  But look at what you're doing to people here and the way you're treating people. People who are very much like you, with the exception of having a belief in our government that differs from your own.   We all make dinner for our family, drive the kids to school, and wait patiently while they're at soccer practice or piano lessons.  

IMO, there's no excuse to be personally attacking other members here.  I wish the admin would focus on some of this nonsense here.   

Because you don't get the same dramatic effect that way. 

I'm sorry Wildcat mom, I'll miss you. I know exactly how you feel because I am in the same boat. I'm <<<this close>>> myself. I think I'll just spend some time on other things these week and then peek in again and see if some ugliness has died down. It's really unfortunate that some people can't see what they are doing here and how intolerant, immature, and mean they are being. It's mind boggling, really. The response posts to a long time member leaving are even so rude it saddens me. Maybe y'all need to pay attention to Melania's anti bullying platform. And my post too will probably be met with more of the same. I've been here 17 years. Sure, I can skip the "bad" stuff but not only is most of it bad right now, there's just an underlying current of ugliness that my "friends" no longer like me and don't care to really know me.

I don't think the people who voted for Trump are bad people at all.. I think everyone is trying to do what they think is best, and we're never going to all agree with what "best" is.  For the record, I think Trump is a misogynistic pig and I hate that he's the face for America right now.  But I won't degrade the people who voted for him and will continue to hope that things will be okay.  What's bad today will be gone tomorrow.

I sometimes read the dramatic posts, but I have learned.. do NOT engage.  Just avoid it.  

As much bad as there is, there is an equal amount of good.

I'm sorry that you feel this way, or that any conservative on this board feels this way. This election cycle was the most divisive one that I can remember and the feelings of disappointment are still very fresh. It will settle down. I don't know how soon, but it will. I hope you will reconsider and come back when things have returned to normal.

I have a lot of loved ones that voted Trump and I know that not all Trump supporters are what some on my side are claiming. I'm sorry if you've had some of our disappointment directed at you. Honestly, I am.

And I don't understand how you could vote for someone who plays so fast and loose with our national security.  Both candidates were majorly flawed...but you're so focused on Trump's flaws that you're completely unable to understand that as strongly as you felt about Trump's flaws, nearly the same amount of American voters felt the same about Clinton and her flaws.  But I've said this about 100 times.  I could say it 1,000 more times and people on the left would still be so shocked that anyone could dare vote for Trump.  

My point was, you just HAD to get your last dig in...in hopes that she's reading.

Yep, the echo chamber that started around convention time seems to be returning with the banning of peas and the ugliness directed at conservative peas this week.

I understand why you are leaving except I disagree with you on one thing. Both sides have been nasty. It seems like they take turns at who is going to be the worst. I know I've got passionate at times and I'm not going to say I've never offended anyone on a political thread. Sometimes just voting for the other person is offensive. You cannot win. This board is quite useless for any meaningful political discussion once a thread gets past page two. The most vile one sided people always derail a thread.

There's an amazing feature on this board though that I use frequently. When you see a political thread select it, go to the Action tab with the drop down area and choose Mark as read forever. The threads do pop up to the top of the board when there's a new post, but you no longer see new. It's a great help!

The privacy features are great as well. You can block people's posts and if they are particularly nasty, you can block reading threads they have started. I know I've personally been baited by people on *both* sides who are nasty and then they play "nice". They start a fluff thread and go back to being their true selves. I'd love this place even more if you could just hide threads (even non political that I have zero interest in), but that  is not available.

Also, please, please, please start threads! Bookmark them and keep them at the top by continuing to participate.

ETA: I was slow in typing my response. Wildcatmom was one of the conservative peas that I thought could carry on a civil conversation without being mean.

In other words, "Don't let the door hit ya..."

Because maybe she hoped people would give one last thought to how they're coming across. Because maybe she hoped that if they did, things might become more friendly for others who choose to stay in what they feel has become a hostile environment. Maybe it was just her way of expressing sadness at the end of what has been a long-time Pea association.

She was a long-time Pea who was never overtly nasty or controversial (that I recall.)

But I guess the new normal is that if someone even gives the appearance of having voted for Trump, we don't have to be nice to them because they've ruined the world.
