For those of you who've never watched-----it is VERY funny, and it has a THANKSGIVING theme! The *ONE* downfall is that if you have children or anyone that would be offended, there is just *ONE* scene with profanity....I'm letting you know, because we've been watching it with our nieces and nephews since they were tiny, and we had to MUTE this one scene every.time.we.watched.....which was A LOT !!! If you plan to watch, I'll tell ya that it's towards the middle of the movie, when Steve Martin yells at the Rental Car lady.... he drops the "f bomb" about 7 times, but that's it for the entire movie..... LOL, in my fifteen years at two peas, I've probably started (or commented heavily!!!) on threads about it----it's hubbs and my FAVORITE. MOVIE. EVERRR !!! And, seeing that we've watched it a million times, it's always fun to hear from other fans! Hubbs and I LITERALLY use lines from this movie in our everyday conversation, at LEAST once a week. We don't even do it on purpose or to be funny---it's like a NATURAL part of our dialect now Although hubbs still LOVES this movie as much as I do, I have to force myself not to talk along with it, because it is veryyy annoying to him. We both probably know 90% of the entire script--possibly more.... Our extended family loves it, too----but most of them no longer make a point to watch it EVERY Thanksgiving like we did when we all lived near eachother, and I always joke with them that it makes me so sad ---"how can you NOT watch it ?!?!" hee hee..... I'm excited that my brother MIGHT be able to come here for Thanksgiving, and he is just as in love with / obsessed with it as we are, so it's gonna be fun to watch it with him for the millionth time! He and I even hand-wrote a trivia game about it many years ago, and I still have it, on old, wrinkly paper from 1989! It's our tradition to watch it, along with The Macy's parade....can' wait !!! Looking forward to hearing from my fellow fans !!! Also, if you want to---ask me ANYTHING***----I won't google---what would the FUN in that? --------------------------------------------------------------- Only read this if you're an EXTREME fan and/or enjoy trivia about minor details!!! ***My Dad is also a fan, although he has turned us down a few times when we asked if he wanted to watch. But yesterday, he asked us one of the BEST trivia questions ever, and even after googling a bit, I can't find the answer....I know once I dig deeper, I can find it, I just don't have the energy right now. Here was his question: What was the name of Owen's wife? (the guy who picks Del and Neil up in his truck, to take them to Witchita to catch a train) his famous line " her first baby come out SIDEWAYS....she didn't scream or NOTHIN !" Well, IMBD FULL CAST LIST & some other sites don't even give her a first name--just "Owen's Wife". Like I said, when my obsession to know the answer gets stronger, I'll do more searching.

2papersilly.... Yipppee!! Another fan! And I cannot believe it, but now that I read your reply, I realize that my obsessed Hubbs, brother, and I don't know most of the names of the songs; much less, the artists!! Thank you for adding some fun trivia to our game! When we go on road trips, I LOVE to play "Mess Around" by Ray Charles !!!!!!!!!!!!!! ANnnd, of course, hubbs and I imitate Del with his dashboard piano and thumb-saxaphone playing!!! Ohhhh, and when John Candy died SO young We weren't only sad that he was gone; but I had always hoped they'd do a sequel !!! Such as----Del Griffith moves to Chicago to be near the Page family, and he babysits the kids, has silly / annoying adventures with Neil, maybe they'd go on another trip together, etc. etc.....

"You're Going the Wrong Way! You're Going to Kill Somebody!" is often used in my family. Such a funny and sweet movie.

I love that movie so much! I saw it in the theater when it first came out. My favorite scene is "The Mess Around" and then all the mayhem that follows afterwards - so funny!!
Just like your normal John Hughes movie, it is very funny but also sweet and touching.

disneypal ...YES!!! Y'know, I should post some clips, too---so that people who've never heard of this movie can get a "taste", then watch the whole thing and hopefully love it as much as some of us do! On a somber note: A dear friend of mine moved to LA years ago, and worked as a host at a restaurant. He met John Candy and said he was SO sweet, and very shy. I've read lots of things about him, and everyone just loved him!!! Even sadder because of leaving his wife and young children when he died

I really enjoy any movie that John Candy was in. He has a great chemistry with Steve Martin.
A good Canadian actor who died too early.

This is a great movie. I haven't seen in it in it's entirety for a while but it still makes me laugh...and cry. "You're Going the Wrong Way! You're Going to Kill Somebody!" is often used in my family. Such a funny and sweet movie. "How do they know where we're going?"

I absolutely adore that movie. I pull it out every November! But there's always a little sadness mixed with the laughter because John Candy left us far too soon. What a lovely actor he was. The scene where he's lip-syncing along with Ray Charles with a look of pure bliss on his face--I just love it.

I love this movie. I love that John Hughes was able to move on from teen films to do something more universal. I have been searching the TV listings for a couple of weeks hoping to see that it will be on soon, but nothing yet.

I have never heard a bad word against him. Anyone that ever worked with him only had nice things to say. Gone too soon and too young.

Sigh. I adore this movie. Adore. I laugh so hard that I cry almost every time I watch it. Last year at this time, they had retro night at the local movie theater. I dragged the kids - 15 and 17 at the time - to see it. So much fun!!!! My favorite line is "those aren't pillows." I also love Owen and his wife. I don't know if she ever has a name. And I also love it when the cop stops them in their car that you have zero idea how it's even drivable! Lisa
