What is everyone getting that person on your Christmas list who is just impossible to buy for. DH's aunt is so difficult to buy for. She is retired and her one and only hobby is doing healing touch. Got her a Kindle a couple of years ago and she hasn't even taking it out of the box. Got her some festive wine glasses last year and she told us she things she allergic to wine now. Trying to avoid the Amazon card route but I'm kinda out of ideas. So whats your gift this year for the impossible to buy for person?

Donation in their name to a local charity.
Seriously, if she's so freaking picky, why are you bothering? Send her a card and flowers and be done with it. I get so frustrated with people that are hard to please.

The throws from Kohl's that we've been raving about. I gave one last year for Secret Santa at work, since the person who I had to buy for put "I will appreciate anything you get. It is the thought that counts." Ugh! So I gave her the throw and she loved it and raved about it for a few months.

We don't do much gifting but my parents are a challenge. This year, Mother made it easy. She said they needed a new mailbox. I tried to find one similar to what they had and struck out. Together we picked one from Wayfair and it is on its way with the numbers already customized.

I have no idea what the kohls throws are like, but the Costco throws are very good quality and wash up nicely.

I was thinking of getting my MIL (and maybe my mom,) coloring books with the pencils and pens. The whole set up in a cute box. My MIL is artsy so she might like it.

Do you live close to the Aunt? My MIL is hard to buy for. She doesn't like a lot of "stuff" and she is hard to please with clothes. But she LOVES to go to shows of all kinds. To make it even more difficult, her birthday is 12/21....so right before Christmas! Last year, I took her to a Christmas show with Christian singers just before her birthday and she loved it. I'm looking around right now for shows I can buy tickets for to give her. She really enjoys a night out or experience more than a "Grandma is fun" type plate or wall hanging.

Does she have something that she uses all of the time that could be upgraded to something nicer? For example, does she always use the same skillet but it's looking a little beat up? Get her a new skillet. Or something else that is used every day. Upgrade a reusable water bottle. The ones that are glass with the rubber overlay are nice. They are about $17 at Best Buy. I've also seen them at Fruitful Yield. I can't remember what the name is. Sorry.

I wouldn't get her anything except a card signed by everyone that says Merry Christmas and best wishes for a Happy New Year. She will probably be thrilled that she didn't get a gift.
If you have to give her something, how about a box of chocolates from a local Chocolate shop.
ETA: of course I'm from the camp that gift giving has gotten out of hand.

My grandmother is hard buy for. She is in her mid 90s, doesn't do crafts any more or go out etc. We buy her a large gift bag of her favorite bath soap, lotions, snack foods, warm socks, a new cotton night gown.... nothing fancy or boutique-ish. Everthing is her favorite life long brands. Makes her happy.. oh, an a fresh pine table center piece she can toss out after Christmas.

I send these to some hard-to-buy-for folks every year. (I also order some for us. ) They're very well received and, since they're a consumable item, they don't go to waste. They're pricey, but worth it for those who deserve something extra nice, but are hard to buy for. Delicious Kringles pastriesThe gorgeous gift box is currently a free upgrade (until tomorrow night). They usually cost $10. The boxes are very sturdy; very thick & heavy chipboard with a beautiful picture. I save them each year! The fancy gift box holds two kringles and you do need to order/send two to get the box. I just placed my orders a few hours ago and they were all for two or four kringles per address. I got two free gift boxes for the folks who will be getting four kringles. If you miss the free box deadline and don't want to pay $10 for it, you can have the order shipped without a fancy box. It will arrive well packaged in a plain box.

Last year dh got my parents a sub to Motorhome magazine. My mom didn't know they had a magazine and wants to make sure she renews when it expires.

I'm doing more gift cards this year. It's not that they are impossible to buy for as much as I don't really know what to get them. So for adults, I'm getting cards for restaurants. For the teens I'm asking their parents where they would enjoy having money to spend.

DH's elderly aunt asked for the same thing each and every year - black sharpie pens and index cards. The family did a name drawing and every year I drew her name. 4 years in a row. It was a challenge. 3 years I got her what she asked for. The fourth year, her sister who lived with her said she needed a flannel nightgown. I couldn't find any in the usual stores, so I got a lovely thick flannel gown from Victoria's Secret. she wouldn't take it out of the box!

I was going to suggest something similar.. is there a new age shop that she might like to buy something for. For me its my ex-MIL. She has so much stuff. I have never been able to buy her anything she really likes. Her birthday is in Dec too. This year its a scarf for her b-day and a vase for xmas. (she totally does not need the vase, but I was stuck)

Last year someone gave me a scarf with a book of how to tie different sizes of scarves, and I have used it a lot. And I can always find a use for a vase. SaveSave

I am a terrible gift giver! I am not at all creative and can never buy a good gift. And we travel over the holidays, go to each set of parents and they are each 4-5 hrs. away. So it's too much to go shopping with all the traveling we do over Thanksgiving and Christmas, so we started buying all gift cards for the grandparents. We spend 35 hrs. in the car over Thanksgiving and 30 hrs. in the car over Christmas, so shopping isn't a priority for me. :)If we stayed home and family came to us, I would probably enjoy shopping!

My FIL is my person. He buys what he wants when he wants it, not much into TV, not at all into music, doesn't go to plays or sporting events, always wears khaki pants and a button up shirt. He's seriously into woodworking, but tools are so individual. We've gotten him tons of excellent books on the subject. This year we got him a branding iron with a certificate to design his own brand, so he can mark the bottom or back of his amazing creations. Very excited to give it to him!

My brother and SIL are seriously the hardest people on my list to buy for. I hate buying them clothes because our taste are so completely different. Gift cards work but tend to seem boring and repetitive to me when that's all I get them every year. This year I'm going to try to give them a date night in a basket. I was thinking tickets to a sports game and maybe a gift certificate to a restaurant close to the event and add in some team shirts or something else that goes with the theme.

While shopping on Amazon for my difficult to buy person, I stumbled across "Oprah's Favorite Things". I didn't know she still did this! Maybe you can find something also. Oprah's Favorite things

I have a very conservative work colleague who I adore. She has lots of money and doesn't need anything. A few years ago a bought her a pimp cup. She loves it. She doesn't drink, so it's not for wine. Sometimes she uses it at work for ice water :-)
