DH coworker is adopting a baby which was born yesterday. So, tonight as he is telling me she has been born and they got photos and such at work today, he tells me baby's name is Liberty.
I know we have had threads upon threads of weird names, but is this the new Nevaeh?

One of my very best friends has a daughter Liberty, they call her Libby. Love her name and very much suits her.

I've had a student in my preschool/kindergarten with the name Liberty. I really like it. Her dad is/was in the Army.

I'm sorry..while it's not out there a ton, Liberty is still better than Bear or Apple.

I read a few years ago that Liberty has gained a lot of popularity in the 2000s. I don't know any "Liberty"s myself, but that is what I read. I much prefer Liberty to Nevaeh, myself.

I remember years ago Casey Kasem naming one of his daughters Liberty. Other than that I haven't heard it very much recently.

Not a name that I would choose, but certainly not as bad as some we've seen over the years. Libby is a nice shortening of the name.

It's a pretty common name.
I have several friends and acquintances with that name. They are in their 20s and 30s.
Also know a few toddlers with that name.
I don't thinks it's unusual at all.

I knew a little girl named Liberty, sadly she died of cancer. She would have been in her late twenty's now.

I've known several Liberty's. How is it the new Nevaeh? It's a legit word, not some made up word by spelling something backwards. It's Liberty, not Ytrebil. That would be weird.

I think Kasey Kassem's daughter is named and Liberty and she would be late twenties/early thirties. I have never met one personally and I will agree that I like it far better than many other names I have heard in the recent past though who am I to say what someone should name their child .

I know a couple of Liberty's, but they are all over 17. So I would say it's not new. I wouldn't chose it but it doesn't evoke strong feeling of hate like some of the names I have seen here!

I've never met a Liberty, it's cute! At least new people will know how to pronounce the name correctly!

I'm a big time hater of weird names and kre8tiv spelling, but I actually think Liberty is kind of a cute name.

I had a Paradise (boy) in my first grade glass. We have a new girl in school named Princess. I preferred a bit more common names for my kids.

I think of the old movie "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" ... that was from the early 60's.

Well, I don't personally know any people named Liberty, but it's not the worst name ever. And I think it's darling if the girl is nicknamed Libby.

I know of a girl who is maybe close to 10 with that name. I don't think it's a new trend, just not something you hear often.

Not even close to Neveah.
One of the neighbor kids had a friend over and her name was Legna. I didn't think too much of it because a lot of Puerto Ricans live in our neighborhood and many of them have names that are unusual to me. Then she explained that her name was Angel spelled backwards. It isn't even a pretty sounding name.

I have heard of one girl named Liberty. I think it is sorta cool! The name that threw me the most was a girl that was born at the same time I had my son, 25 years ago. They named her Precious Lace. Now, that to me is odd. Reminds me of a name you would name a puppy. Well, not the Lace part. But, to each their own.

There is a Liberty that went to school with my oldest. They were both in Orchestra so saw her name in the program for several years. She would be 20 now. While a bit unusual I don't find it odd.

Liberty is the name of the half sister in the movie Juno. That was the first person I thought of when I read this thread.
At work the other day I'm pretty sure I heard a boy call his sister Pleasure...
