I have heard the name Liberty before, it was years ago...maybe 5 or 6 - someone I knew from church had a daughter with that name. I kind of like it.
There use to be a character on "As the World Turns" named Liberty.

eh - it's not a name I would choose nor do I think it's an especially new or trendy name but it's certainly more normal than Neveah or many of the Uneek names that have been popular lately.
Libby is cute although I associate it with Elizabeth

Liberty is the name I always secretly wanted to use if I had a daughter, but knew that no one else would go along with.

Probably more than 20 years ago I had a male student named liberty. It seems like a fine name to me.

I have a second cousin who is fourteen that is named Liberty. I like it, it suits her. Sadly, I also have a second cousin who is under two named Lil' Bear.

I know a 39 year old Liberty, a 14 year old Liberty, and a 2 year old Liberty. So while not a common name, it's not totally out there for me either. I think it's kind of cute.

I think of the old movie "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" ... that was from the early 60's. Same here! I've heard the name Liberty several times and my first thought is always "Is her middle name Valance?"

I think it's kind of cute. I like Libby a lot, but I'm no where near patriotic enough to use it.

I like the name.
Here's a few that I've heard recently. Yes, these are actual names.
Shotavodka
La-a (pronounced Ladasha) And La-a was not happy that no one knew how to pronounce her name.

I don't dislike it. Compared to some of the names I have seen floated on this site, it is quite moderate.

I don't find anything unusual with the name,it's been around a long time. Maybe not quite so popular as some names but it has been out there and not exclusively to the US. I've heard the name Liberty but I don't personally know one but it's not a name that would make me go if I heard someone had named their child that. Having said that, I do know a Libby. I must ask her next time I see her what her full name is. I assumed it was short for Elizabeth but that might not be correct after reading this thread.

I never heard of Liberty as a baby name before. I can't guess how a person would feel about having it for a name. It's a lot better than some of the names out there.

I really like that name. Last week I was reviewing some statements and came across the name Dark Star Light. That's the first, middle and last name.

My husband's aunt is a retired 2nd grade teacher. She once had a student named La-a. She asked if it is pronounced "La". The girl said it's pronounced Ladasha! So funny that you have heard that too!

I haven't heard or met anyone with the name Liberty but if I did I would think "that's different". It's not the worst name I have ever heard.
I know a little boy called Atlas and I think it's an unusual name for a little boy. The backstory is that his name has to do with travel, as his Dad travelled a lot. I don't know all the details, but that is the jist of it. Even knowing the back story, I still don't care for it for a child but perhaps he will grow into the name.

I like it. There was a character on Degrassi: The Next Generation with that name for years, and that was in the mid-2000s.

We have a Liberty at our school. Her older sister is Trinity. Their brother is Dave, which I always found funny. Two trendy, kind of fanciful names ... and Dave.
