Think makes zero sense in that statement. It's Thing.

That makes sense. I say thing, but I imagine that it started out as thing, was quoted incorrectly as thing, and the phrase changed in some areas. I love language quirks! Surely it's more likely to have started out as 'think', just because of the context it's used in, and then in some areas changed to 'thing'. You are right. That is a typo.

Think. Thing makes no sense. If I have another thing coming, where's my first thing? And when do I get the second thing?

Think. Thing makes no sense. If I have another thing coming, where's my first thing? And when do I get the second thing? And see I see it the other way around. You have another think coming? Huh? That makes no sense to me. To be honest, the phrase itself is quite odd.

If I had to choose between think and thing I would choose think. But I myself use the word thought.

Another East Coaster here. I've only ever heard/used "thing". I've never heard "think" in that context.
This place is fascinating!

What Makes a WordThis sort of fits with this discussion. In my house some use Think and some use Thing. I'm on the THINK side.

I've always heard and used it as "Think" as in you need to think twice about this. Don't just assume the first thought that popped into your head was the right thought... think again or "you have another think coming" I was always thinking it was think and then I thought more of that the saying really means and what volt says is what I deem as true... I'm Midwestern, if that matters!

I am in shock! I have NEVER heard someone say 'you have another THINK coming'!!! What in the heck - I've never heard it or read it. Now that I think of it though, when you use that phrase it kind of runs together so maybe some people were saying think but it sounded like thing lol. I say THING..now I just asked ds and he said he has heard older people say THINK occasionally but I still can't believe it lol

"Thing" is all I have ever heard or seen. (East Coast, US, here.) I thought you were joking when I saw "think" in the thread title! If "think" is correct, I can see why from a logical aspect, but I don't understand why they don't just say "thought". I don't think (No pun intended) I could ever say "think". The grammar aspect of it would just kill me.

I am from AZ. We always say "thing."
But I can totally see how both are correct.
However, I very rarely use the word "think" as a noun, which is how it is used in the sentence. To me, it just sounds 'off.' That's why "thing" makes much more sense to me.

Yeah, Judas Priest has spoken. You "thinkers" better take heed.... "You've Got Another Thing Comin'" One life I'm gonna live it up I'm takin' flight said I'll never get enough. Stand tall I'm young and kinda proud I'm on top as long as the music's loud. If you think I'll sit around as the world goes by You're thinkin' like a fool 'cause it's a case of do or die. Out there is a fortune waitin' to be had If you think I'll let it go you're mad You've got another thing comin'. That's right here's where the talkin' ends Well listen this night there'll be some action spent. Drive hard I'm callin' all the shots I got an ace card comin' down on the rocks. If you think I'll sit around while you chip away my brain Listen I ain't foolin' and you'd better think again. Out there is a fortune waitin' to be had If you think I'll let it go you're mad You've got another thing comin'. In this world we're livin' in we have our share of sorrow Answer now is don't give in aim for a new tomorrow. Oh so hot no time to take a rest yeah Act tough ain't room for second best. Real strong got me some security Hey I'm a big smash I'm goin' for infinity yeah.

My husband and I fight about this all the time. He says THING, I say THINK. To me, thing doesn't make sense. What "thing" do you have coming? "If June thinks I'm paying for all that, she's got another think coming" See how think follows think? How does thing make any sense there?
We're both Midwestern, btw.
