***this is an old post from last summer that got bumped. A lot of these cities have been cancelled Just wanted to put that out there so you aren't disappointed!!! CKC is no longer coming to Nashville. ***** I, for one, am glad to see Nashville is back! They didn't come here this year and thought that was the end of the Nashville show. Now I just hope vendors come and make it a great shopping experience! I'll probably go to one of the crops with some scrappy friends. And maybe take a few classes. Creating Keepsakes 2015 Convention Dates CKC-Portland February 27-28, 2015 CKC-Phoenix March 13-14, 2015 CKC-St. Louis April 10-11, 2015 CKC-Manchester April 24-25, 2015 CKC-Nashville July 17-18, 2015 CKC-Lancaster July 31-August 1 CKC-San Marcos August 7-8, 2015 CKC-Charlotte August 14-15, 2015 CKC-Tulsa August 21-22, 2015 CKC-Houston September 11-12, 2015 CKC-Kansas City October 2-3, 2015 CKC-Seattle November 6-7, 2015

Anyone else happy? Disappointed? I know the shows aren't as big and exciting as in years past. But I'm just glad there's something fun to look forward too as our Archivers left in October, before they announced they were closing all the stores. Plus, Jenni Bowlin is local and her booth is always full of great bargains!

I wouldn't say I'm disappointed, but wonder why there isn't at least one location in the Midwest? Think Chicago, Minneapolis, etc.? There isn't a location that wouldn't require a plane ticket for me to attend.

Alissa, thanks for posting this. I'm also glad to see Nashville back on the schedule. Since they dropped Louisville from their tour, Nashville is the closest one for me and I hope to be able to make it next year. I really enjoyed the ones in Louisville (even though I guess it was a smaller one) and usually found at least a couple of classes to take. Good news! Maria

A Chicago suburb would be a perfect locale and would bring people from MN, WI, IL and IN. Totally agree with you.

I'm happy, even though I haven't been to one in years. There just seem to be fewer conventions. Not surprising but sad.

There is no happy dance happening here I think MN would be a great place for a CKC. Those that drove or flew in from other states could also check out the Mall of America, Ikea and other locations that may not be avail to them at home.

There isn't a location that wouldn't require a plane ticket for me to attend. The one year they came to Minneapolis, I volunteered to help in the CK booth where they sold the shirts, the CK kits and stuff. The show seemed quiet and small, and the rumblings I overheard was that many of the vendors weren't happy with the turnout or the sales. Toward the end of the weekend, it was clear that they wouldn't be coming back.

Many scrappers probably only made one big show a year. Now that Archiver's is gone, I would think it would be a good opportunity to swoop in and claim that market.

I am happy to see Nashville back too. I used to live in Franklin and always went. Might be the perfect excuse to go back for a visit!

Now that Archiver's is gone, I would think it would be a good opportunity to swoop in and claim that market. Yes, but ScrapFest was a different animal entirely IMHO. Yes, there were "vendors" and "booths" but all sales were through Archiver's so it wasn't anything like a CKC or MegaMeet where the vendors decide what to bring and what to sell and at what price. As the owner of an independent scrapbooking business, I wouldn't have been allowed to have a booth there at any price. I think ScrapFest drew a lot of people from outside the area, whereas a CKC would be more likely to draw the locals. You would think that in a place like MN where there used to be so many nice stores, and that was home to CM and Archiver's (and where winter seems to last for six months of the year LOL), that there would be a lot more scrapbookers here than anywhere. You would think with virtually all of the independent stores closed, Archiver's closed and CM gone, this place would be ripe for the picking but I don't see anybody jumping to cash in. There has to be a good reason for that.

crazy4scraps - I think you are correct in saying that: "You would think with virtually all of the independent stores closed, Archiver's closed and CM gone, this place would be ripe for the picking but I don't see anybody jumping to cash in." I'm not sure there is a good reason for that other than the industry not realizing that they could start their 'Scrapfest' mecca.

Very tempted to go to the Nashville show. Born there and only live 3.5 hrs away.

I'm a little disappointed, I was hoping Jacksonville would come back. I went last year (actually the few years they did come here, I went) and had a blast, was looking forward to this year and nada. My girlfriends and I are itching to do a scrap trip like we used to do several years ago... so maybe Charlotte is in the books.

well, I will consider Phoenix in March... might be good timing for me. Haven't been to a CKC for quite a few years, and that was in Portland. something to think about.

The one in Charlotte, in most recent years, has been the weekend before school starts. Too much going on that weekend.

From what I heard, they couldn't get the Tinley Park location (south suburbs of Chicago) in time and had to settle with the convention center. I only volunteered the first day (Friday) and it was dead....no one wanted to pay the $11 (at the time) parking plus admissions. Last year, they had it at the Tinley Park location. I didn't go but my friend was a vendor and told me that for what they paid for the booth and hotel, wasn't worth doing again. So go figure!

That's what I meant when I said there has to be a reason why they're not coming here. It all comes down to money. There are still enough shows to choose from that the vendors will not go back to an area where they have had lousy sales performance in the past. The vendors have long memories and they also trust what other vendors report back about the various shows. Many of the vendors share a semi truck and so they all go to the same shows. They are a pretty tight knit group and they do talk. Unfortunately, with all of the stores that have closed here and now with seven giant Archiver's stores that just went out, people have gotten used to clearance and going out of business prices and no one wants to pay retail. These companies are coming long distances to sell their stuff and make money, so if that doesn't happen they can't afford to make that same mistake twice.

Noooooooooooooo!!!!!! I'm pouting. I was really looking forward to that weekend. These shows are getting smaller and in less cities. I wouldn't be surprised if they're on their way out. Very disappointed. There is NOTHING even remotely close to me (and a lot of folks) on that list. Every city would require a full day drive or a plane flight. Not happening. Really sucks.

I'm surprised they are coming back to the Seattle area. The vendor fair was so small this year.

Nothing near me either. But I'm not too disappointed because when I drove over 4 hours to a CKC couple years ago, the event was pretty dead. I doubt that I would ever go to another CKC unless it's within an hour distance.

I'm not surprised that they aren't coming to the Midwest because we have other shows.
Megameet is in Michigan in May and is a really nice event - pretty large.
There is also the scrapbook expo in Chicago in August. I haven't been to that in several years but I can tell you that Megameet is very similar to a CKC. In fact the last CKC I went to in Cincinnati was pretty lame.
