If his tweets ever get to the point where they bother me as much as they appear to freak out some other people, then I would use my power of the vote to vote against him in 4 years. We all have the same power,

We all have the same power, My dh voted for Obama the first time but didn't vote for him the second time. I guess that's how I thought it worked.

Of course I could be wrong and once trump takes office that old Democrat trump will emerge. . Tangent #1: Improbably, as a lifelong Democrat, I've asserted all along that my strong objections to Mr. Trump have little to do with his political party affiliation. I have many, MANY more serious concerns about the ways he will represent my country - and, by extension, me - and the probable fallout from that representation. ---------------------------------- Tangent #2: The claim of "All attack, all the time" on this board is thoroughly discouraging as it makes one realize that no matter what the variety of posts/posters actually is, some readers have interpreted all of them as attacks. Result: disinclination to post. And the more disinclined some of us become, the more true the claim will become. (Because the true attack types share a certain...erm...dogged devotion - regardless of whether they share a political ideology. )

Of course I could be wrong and once trump takes office that old Democrat trump will emerge. . Tangent #1: As a lifelong Democrat, I have no interest in a Democratic Donald Trump, whether covert or "out-and-proud." Improbably, his political ideology is the least of my objections to him - which I've asserted all along. I have many, MANY more serious concerns about the ways he will represent my country - and, by extension, me - and the probable fallout from that representation. ---------------------------------- Tangent#2: The claim of "all attack, all the time" on this board is thoroughly discouraging as it makes one realize that no matter what one posts, it will be interpreted as an attack. The more disinclined some of us become, the more true claim will become - as the true attack types display a certain...erm...devotion. The wish for "old Democrat trump" is so he could stop some of the agenda the Republicans in Congress want to push through. An agenda that will hurt a lot of people. There are a lot of reasons not to like trump. A lot of reasons to hate that he is going to represent this country on the world stage. But that doesn't mean we can't hope that a small miracle would happen on his march to destroy this country so that maybe him being president won't be as bad as some us feel it will be.

I do accept it. Where did I say I didn't? I'm really just curious if those who voted for Trump then would make the same choice now. As I said earlier, friends of mine who have been very active politically on FB are suddenly very quiet. And I hope they're doing some thinking. Maybe they are "quieter" because they are happier? Not sure why you think they should be spending their time "thinking" but maybe they are feeling like things will get better because their candidate won & hopeful at the change ahead ...thus less inclined to engage in social media where there is a lot of bitching and whining. (I'd insert a shruggy shoulder guy here if I knew how)

Going back to the whole "FB has been far quieter from the Trump supports" comment ...... I actually thought about this a lot last night. I don't know if I think my feeds have gone quieter. Reason being is besides 2 or 3 people openly sharing their voting preference of Trump no one ever brings it up. I think the people who quietly cast their vote for him are still quietly waiting to see if he will be able, or even try to bring about the change he based his platform on.
The one friend that I have who posts minimal posts supporting Trump has A LOT of democratic friends and it amazes me the anger that happens on her posts. I'm talking maybe 4 posts in this whole process. Ex.....she posted after the Golden Globes that she would have so much more respect for Hollywood if politics were kept out of the award shows. Her post blew up......it got ugly and she actually deleted it. That to me is wrong.
So I don't think on *my* pages it has gotten quieter. I think Trump supporters have stayed the same, BUT Democrats who were confident in HRC were shocked and now furious/scared of the outcome. So their posts have increased......some have quietly stated their fears and others have BLASTED the world.
Like I said I don't comment much on these threads. I do appreciate though when I feel it is peaceful enough that it gives genuine food for thought! I'm more of a "let's talk it through girl, then I'll scream at you until you agree with my opionion. From my 3 year old twins up to the President elect I find that behavior unacceptable.

I have not seen much from either side on FB since the election and that concerns me. It doesn't concern me. It's natural things slow down after the election. It might pick up a couple of days before and after the inauguration. It will probably increase when Trump is actually president and starts doing something or nothing with his promises. I was personally sick of a few friends who only posted about Trump/Hillary/McMullin, I stopped following them until the election was over. I felt like I was reading political ads. If someone isn't one to post much about politics ever, I don't see why they have to say something. The most I do is like articles from news sources and that lets my facebook friends know how I feel.

I'm one of those Peas who most likely won't be responding in political threads any longer. My time is limited and the "discussions" quickly become disrespectful and abusive. I'd rather spend my time in more uplifting climates!

I'd rather spend my time in more uplifting climates! Albeit for one ot two Peas that are obviously vicious (which I think they were BEFORE the election, I am just not seeing this abuse. Are you considering it "abuse" when you have a lot of dissenting opinions? I am becoming apathetic with the threads myself. There is just no middle ground. There is no discussion of fact. NOTHING. As DH and I were falling asleep last night, we talked about all that is going on. I told him I really felt depressed over my country. I never thought I would see it this way.

I just went and looked at her page and in the last 48 hours she's posted 23 times on Trump. It's just too much.

I watched most of the press conference. It did not change my feelings about Trump. I still have misgivings about him being President of the United States. I wish he had not been the Republican nominee. I would have preferred just about any other Republican candidate.
However, if the election were tomorrow, I'd still vote for Trump over Hillary Clinton. Nothing that has happened since the election has changed my mind.
Trump has not even been sworn in yet. I may change my mind about him once he becomes President, but for now I'm going to give him a chance and see what happens. I honestly believe I would've said the exact same thing about Hillary Clinton if she had won the election.
