I have several thoughts on these marches. First, WHERE were these people during the election? I am having a hard time understanding the ire when they could have used the power of their vote. Am I wrong on this? Do you think ALL these people used their votes against Trump? Sure lots did, I am sure. Second, for all the Pro Trumpers here on the board who have been saying we are just sore losers, let this be a notice to you that this is FAR more about "not winning". People are just as alarmed as many of us here. Seriously, put that to bed. Next, it is very disconcerting that there is world wide protests AGAINST him. There was even a march here in Rabat! For those of you relishing in his "cock of the walk" speak, this isn't Texas Ranger. If you think that the US does not need the global community for it's community, you are sadly mistaken. Last, if you and I mean ANY of you think Trump gives a shit about you, you are wrong. Even those of you that voted for Trump, I don't believe he is going to do anything for you. He and his family were bowling in the White House while MILLIONS are marching all over the country and the world. He went to the CIA and was more concerned about his f$&@ing crowd sizes!!!! If you are not white, wealthy or Christian, the lights have gone dark. I do not believe any of these marches will make one bit of difference.

After watching this evening's press briefing, I believe that he has noticed. That is precisely why they are making a big deal about yesterday's crowd size.
I do believe that women did vote against DT. The marches were largest in areas that went Democratic. Also, many people did not participate in the 2016 election because their states were so red.
These marches are important. They were important in the Civil Rights movement, in the Viet Nam War movement, and Gay Rights movement. It may not be instant, but I think that it will matter.

I know some women who went to one about 35 miles from me. They did vote for Clinton.
I think we have a better chance with our senators and representatives in convincing them of our opinions on various issues.

The last time there were these kind of demonstrations after a presidents inaugural was Nixon's second term. He didn't last long as he had to resign. So here's hoping history repeats itself. But instead of it happening in a second term lets hope it happens in the first term.

If you are not white, wealthy or Christian, the lights have gone dark. I do not believe any of these marches will make one bit of difference. I agree it won't make a bit of difference with Trump but I absolutely believe it will make a difference with citizens. People are inspired and fired up and ready to fight. I hope it will translate into more active engagement in this country's politics, encourage people to pick up their phones and call their representative and to SHOW UP to vote.

They voted for her. This is why Trump lost the popular vote by over 3 million votes. Even his electoral college victory came down to a few thousand voters in each of three states.
I think the miscalculation he's made in dismissing this and claiming a mandate is how many run of the mill, unenthusiastic voters he's now turned into activists.

They weren't "anti-Trump" protests. They were PRO-women's and all people's equal rights marches.
I think labeling them as "anti-Trump" protests dismisses all of what they actually were about and makes it easier to brush away the specific varied concerns people were shouting to ALL of their legislators, not simply the clown we have for President.

I think no one was marching against Trump during the campaign because no one actually thought he could win. I don't know anyone who wasn't shocked he won.
I don't know if the marches will do any good or not. But doing nothing for sure wont do any good.
He seems to have a very "let them eat cake" sort of attitude to the common man I think. He's king and his royal family gets to play with the royal toys/funds, don't bother him with your "petty complaints" it can't possibly be that bad. We'll see how long the American people will put up with that. Some will forever. Hopefully, most wont.

I wasn't marching against Trump, I was marching for my sisters, refugees, Muslims, immigrants, Planned Parenthood, closing the wage gap, and so much more. I am revitalized and reinvigorated for the 2018 midterm elections.

The marchers were pleased to see such turnouts, were empowered and your attitude is exactly why his term will be challenged, watched, criticized, called out and last no more than 4 years. #womensmarchgoingtokeepamericaprogressing

That there were similar marches around the world also attests to this being about more important and universal issues than Trump.
People around the world - led by WOMEN - marched for Human Rights.
I hope that in the weeks, months, years to come history is able to look at this miraculous day where incredibly large marches were held across our nation and around the world and there was NO VIOLENCE. The main difference from other marches throughout history: these were women's marches which had substantial participation by men, but they weren't the organizers, nor did they set the agendas.

Country Ham...I think you make a good point. I usually vote Republican. I am prolife. I am pro women's rights, equality, gay rights. I did not march today because I had seen some of the signs and heard some of the commentary and honestly I did not feel welcome. I support those of you who did. Ultimately I enjoy seeing people getting engaged in politics.

SaveNo one prevents pro-life women from having babies - why would they need to march for that purpose? That said, no one is against pro-life women. No one. They would have been welcome. Many of the women and men marching ARE against supposed "pro-life" LEGISLATION that dictates what other women CAN DO with their own bodies. I'm positive there were plenty of pro-life women today at the march in DC who didn't feel the need to try to force their decisions on other people. Every single person can live a pro-life lifestyle and never have an abortion without forcing their decision on everybody else. And pro-choice women/marchers would never try to force women to have abortions via legislation, nor would they try to make a pregnant woman feel awful about her choice to bear a child. Nor would she be unable to voice her pride in choosing to bear children. So, being pro-life is a completely NON-ISSUE. Trying to legislate your beliefs on other people's bodies - BIG ISSUE.

I certainly can't speak for the thousands of men and women who marched today, but I know for a fact that I'd welcome any woman of any belief who wants to peacefully protest unless her protest involves trying to strip my legal rights away. If you are personally against abortion--great--don't have an abortion. Just don't try to impose your beliefs on me.

There is a huge misconception that a person who is pro-choice is also pro-abortion. I am pro-choice, but my personal belief for my own body is that I would carry any safe pregnancy to term. That is my *choice* other women are allowed to make their own *choice*. It is when you try to take away that *choice* that I have an issue with your beliefs.
