She emailed me back again after I explained that I had no idea that I was buying clearance boxes. This was my reply: Hey Lara. I didn't know that they were considered clearance boxes. I thought what I was buying was the original $30 mystery box that was then included in the 50% off sale. I think in my mind I was going to get quite a good deal with quite a lot of things. Seeing the things in my box didn't seem like near enough and doesn't seem to add up to $60 MSRP (since I bought 2 boxes). I didn't realize that it was going to be a clearance box of clearanced out items. Perhaps I misunderstood and for that I am sorry. Thank you for listening! Nicole Her email was very kind and she has replied SUPER QUICK every time. Here was her reply: Hi love - no need to apologize. I learned a lot from this sale and I'm grateful for your business! Next time I will clearly indicate they are clearance boxes (it's the first time I've done them this way lol).... I honestly did think the items were great and needed to literally clear out items quickly in my office... I'm going to send you a coupon tomorrow for $10 off your next purchase! ❤ Xo Lara Deleted this post to give nicolep a chance to move on Sometimes the best thing to do is just to let it go.

I got mine today. I purchased while they were still $30, so I was holding out hope. But mine arrived completely open...and probably missing half of its stuff. So I guess I will never one how good it might have been.

There was just a small amount of tape over the end, and it looked like the box had been smashed down, causing it to pop open. Weird that it happened to both of us.

I didn't realize that it was going to be a clearance box of clearanced items I guess. Yes, that's what I thought, too. I wouldn't have ordered otherwise. I still don't have mine, but my expectations are low at this point.

Anyone want to take bets on how long until the owner finds this thread and comes on to explain herself? Seems like the pattern we've been in!

ellewoodMeh. I had so many problems with this fiasco it's not funny. I really disagree with what I got sent on so many levels. I mailed her and explained why I had a problem with her sale, and asked for some resolution (including letting me return the box for a refund). She never apologized to me or offered me a coupon like she did nicolep. Basically she told me I was greedy and wanted something for nothing in the first email (that is MY paraphrasing with all my frustration behind it--I posted the original reply, so you can go read her more pc version), and in her second one she told me we were just going to have to agree to disagree because I got my "2" boxes and it was fair. Anyway...I just said screw it and filed with Paypal. They totally agreed with me that by principle, if I paid for 2 boxes, I should have gotten twice as much stuff as someone that paid for 1 box, not less. (Changing the terms of the sale after I made my purchase, and the definition of a coupon/sale supported my case.) They returned my money 'at no cost to the seller', but at least I'm not out. Yay for Paypal Buyer Protection! Clearly my first and last purchase from her store, but at least now I don't feel jipped and I can move on. Honestly, the ladies that received opened/damaged boxes should be requesting a replacement or a refund.

I ordered before the sale and it's still "processing". Kind of worried that y'all are getting your sale orders and I am still waiting. I would send her an email. I sent her one last night asking about the contents of my box and if there was another one coming and she got back with me in less than 15 min. I heard back last night. Apparently her website showed my payment as pending, but it most definitely was not. So I already got the shipping notification. Now I just wonder when my box was put together. Fingers crossed.

It's so disappointing to see stories like this one. Here you are trying to support the "mom and pop" stores of scrapbooking and the customer service really sucks. Unfortunately this is not the first time I've heard bad things about The Ink Road. Luckily I've steered clear of them and after reading this thread I intend to continue to do so.
Thankfully there are so many other great places to shop. Personally, I'd rather pay full price while supporting the phenomenal customer service of Paper Issues or Ellen Hutson. I really hope those of you that are unhappy keep on her case about this.

I kept trying to remember where I had heard of this shop before. 2peasrefugees.boards.net/thread/49845/vent-rant-over-update linkHow does a small shop offer $1000 cash or macbook laptops as a giveaway as promoted on it's instagram page? I just assumed scrappy businesses were not hugely profitable on the small scale.

I posted on that post, and I remember reading it all the way through. I didn't put them together, either. And I'd rather you keep posting the good sales. Most businesses are reputable and honestly care about their customer service because that's what builds their business and keeps them going. Plus, it's not like you were the one that filled the boxes! And...if anyone ever posts about another one of her great sales, we can just quietly link these two threads, and let people make their own decisions. Guessing we won't forget it again!

I'm sorry nicolep - you certainly shouldn't feel responsible for what sounds like inconsistencies of a shop. We process so much information everyday, I'm often struggling just to remember passwords that only have to deal with me, let alone what I read on a thread. I think all of us appreciate how you link us to great stuff (except my DH who reminds me of how much unused stuff I have!) and hope you won't stop. If anything, between this and the SC Warehouse debacle, I've learned to be cautious ordering anything that ends in the word "box." SaveSave

I'm one of the lucky ones who got a useable box. But I will say some of the contents are questionable--as in having hobby lobby stickers on them. I e bought 12x12 pads from her for $5. There's a few ways this could be happening--she's getting great deals (doubtful) or she has someone inside the store (maybe even herself) booking her up. The bins of clearance stuff at my HL are very random like these boxes, and it makes me wonder if she isn't helping herself to some of the bins. I know people at Walmart who do this too. Well not personally!
After reading the update to that post in October, I'm a bit furious for everyone but I'll just shop elsewhere. If it's too good to be true it usually is.

I had followed the "initial" drama with The Ink Road back in October and even I didn't remember the shop's name when this thread got posted. So, honestly, nicolep no need to feel so bad about it. However, I think the shop's name has been engraved in our pea memories now! So sorry for everyone dealing with this drama! I hope the claims with Paypal go through for everyone (and that she'll be red-flagged by them). Being the nosy cat I can be, I just checked her Insta and realised that: 1. she didn't actually advertise her clearance boxes on social media (weird) 2. or she deleted that post (hmm, one would wonder why if that's the case) 3. these clearance boxes were probably the stuff from her unsold Yay Boxes (somebody mentioned on this thread getting some Pocky) 4. and might just be the "second wave" of "winter boxes" (I'm assuming you might have ordered what she's referring to in this post) 5. in which case, did you all get a box of the same size as those shown in the IG picture? 6. don't trust grown-up women who refer to each other as girlboss and babe all. the. freakin'. time. They'll bring the drama like no one else does. 7. her business has a YT account if giving some virtual thumbs down makes you feel any better 8. I'll just be the b***h who says it but if you haven't even finished your very first scrapbook album ( in 6x8 size nonetheless) before opening a scrap shop, Imma side-eye you (especially if you keep attracting major shop drama)

I also ordered 2 boxes and got less stuff then people who ordered one. I got 16 pieces of paper and about 8 other things, one of the things I really like is the Simon bunny stamp from Cocoa Daisy. Have no idea why the stamp was in the box, but I do like it.
Also, when I ordered- which was pretty early on- it said there were 20 boxes left, after I ordered it said the same thing and it said that for a long time after. Maybe that should have been a warning as well, but at that point it was too late.
NicoleP don't feel bad about this at all, this is not on you , this is on the store owner.

If wish I had been more clever when I contacted her, and asked her what I should have expected in the box rather than sending a pic of the (completely) open box. She I'm,existent replied that it was all there. I don't understand how, since I could stick my whole hand in....I am certain that things slipped out. Then when I told her that I ordered while the box was $30, she told me that there was something on the internet about what people expected and how it was incorrect info. She said something along the lines that although she had changed the description of the boxes, because they were still called the same thing on her site that people's co liters defaulted to the old box listing. Something about not cleared cookies. I wanted to say that I had never heard of this being a problem with any other online store, EVER, but I just said forget it. She did apologize and said she had learned from it, but I still wanted to tell her that I think she may have learned that lesson a little too late. She also said that she could 'tell I was unhappy, so let's find a way to make it right.' Also, I joined her Facebook group. I had to leave it almost immediately. It's like a new age Studi Calico. Everyone on that group just kisses the ground she walks on; the whole felt very middle school to me. I definitely will not ship there again. For those of you that want to take that risk, I guess just make sure your cookies are cleared!

For those of you that want to take that risk, I guess just make sure your cookies are cleared! I had never been to her store before this sale, so the only old cookies I got were in my box. I really don't like being negative on a thread, however seeing people get treated poorly or get taken advantage of really upsets me. I've been pm'ing with several people that are having bad experiences like mine, but no one wants to cause drama here, so everyone is keeping our messages private. We're all disappointed, we're all feeling guilty for hoping we got what we paid for, and we're all staying quiet because we don't want to cause problems. I applaud that, because I really, truly, DEEPLY hate drama on message boards. But honestly, ladies, there were a lot of us with bad boxes and bad experiences requesting resolution. It's the only reason I've kept reading the thread and posting. So...I'm going to take a moment and state the obvious so we can just have it out here and quit feeling bad over this. Anyone that's not happy should contact her for resolution, and if they aren't happy, contact Paypal. The reason you use Paypal is for purchases like this, and it really doesn't matter WHAT the excuse was. Old cookies from a poorly designed site, opened/damaged packages or misrepresented product (or a change in the item you ordered after she received your money) are not your fault. You shouldn't have to live with a bad purchase or someone else's mistake or feel guilty for requesting resolution. And I'm glad she 'learned from this experience', but she shouldn't be learning on YOUR money and misery. Paypal has a resolution department for a reason, and they want you to have faith in them to protect your hard-earned money. So let them do what they promise, and make it right for you. Afterall, that's what a good business does--they make things right! Making a claim is easy, painless, and the absolute worst case scenario is you return the box for a refund. Are you really going to miss the very UN-yaybox? I'm going to set my pom-poms down for now, but I really hope everyone realizes they don't have to feel guilty over this and that it's ok to seek resolution. And for those that need it, Paypal's number is 1 (888) 221-1161. They like you to have a "one time passcode" but they'll still talk to you without it! (They also have horrible wait times...so choose the call-back option.)

I understand not wanting to come on here to simply scream into the abyss about life's daily crap-happenings (ahem, NSBR...), but it makes me very sad that there are people out there, and on this board, that think it's stirring drama to share with their scrappy community about how they've been mistreated by a scrappy company. That's why we're here, right? To share? You've been wronged! We've been wronged! Let's talk about it, no need to hide in the shadows!
(I realize I'm an extrovert and my first instinct is to seek others in the same boat as me but I also realize some people might be introverts and not want to join in. On the other hand, I think society does a lot of conditioning of women that sharing very real, very justified negative feelings is "raking drama." But maybe that's a post for another day, or for another board. I just have to make my observation [extrovert]!)

Umm...is it just me or are all of her big giveaway posts (macbooks and $1000 cash) taken down on IG now? This is so deplorable and I will NOT be using the $10 coupon she gave me. What a disgrace. I cannot believe the stuff she has said to some of you. She can't pay her rent?! Wow. What a piece of work!

On the other hand, I think society does a lot of conditioning of women that sharing very real, very justified negative feelings is "raking drama." But maybe that's a post for another day, or for another board. I just have to make my observation [extrovert]!) I bought a ton of stuff from someone who was running a shop (huge sale) while having a post heart transplant daughter to take care of. My order took like 2 months to get to me, tracking didn't move when she insisted it shipped and when it finally arrived (weighing what the envelope said...9oz when I paid close to $20 in shipping) it was missing more than I received. I received a partial refund for some things and then claimed I was lying because 'I have more of that stock sitting in front of me' so she couldn't possibly have not sent it. NO ONE dared say anything publicly because of her daughter and they used that constantly as a reasoning for her forgetting things (but it did nothing to to make up for the fact that she offered no refund and instead said 'well, it was on sale anyway' as if sending less than what I paid for was okay because it was on sale when it wasn't). What was REALLY happening was that she was using her very sick daughter (from what I've heard, her daughter passed a year or so after I blocked her after this incident...it wasn't made up as there were people who appeared to have known her IRL in several groups...hard to fake that many accounts in that many places, I think) as an excuse to steal from people by shortchanging them on orders and then accusing the customers of lying about missing items. WHO THE HELL DOES SOMETHING LIKE THAT?! Someone who knows that most customers won't say anything (so every customer thinks it's an isolated incident) for fear of being wrong, that's who. The thing is, people in this industry are generally kind and caring people and there are people who will take advantage of that. It isn't just from businesses, either. I've seen it from people soliciting supplies because their houses burned down only for people to discover the person posted photos they googled (one time it was the first search result). Either they are con artists or they are self centered sociopaths who don't feel they have to own up to their mistakes and suffer the consequences...either way, it makes it hard to continue to have a kind and caring community when people end up constantly cautious of who they are doing business with. That's why it's so important to let people know when you have BAD experiences and also when you have GREAT ones! Helping someone avoid a similar bad experience helps to close the doors of businesses that hurt the integrity if this industry and praising great shops helps send customers to a store that deserves to succeed. While there might be some drama in it on the bad experience side (hard to look away from a train wreck and all that), it truly does help to share your experiences with others who'd appreciate the warning or the suggestion!
