Hi! I did a search and didn't find anything. I would just like to hear if anyone had good results (or not) while trying this? Thanks in advance. Jill

I just completed a Whole45 so I continued on for 45 days. I've lost 10lbs and feel fantastic. I love eating this way. It sounds really restrictive but my plate was heaping full at every meal. I was not hungry. Let me note that I'm not vastly overweight. I'd love to lose 6lbs more. If you are heavier, you would lose more. I'm going to eat mostly Paleo for the next few weeks and do another Whole 30.
It's amazing how good your body feels without dairy and grain. Check the hashtags #Whole30, #Whole30challenge etc. on Instagram to see what people are eating. I'm presently on vacation, ate a decadent dinner last night and a few hours later, I threw up. Seriously, my body is just used to basic foods right now. No complainting at all, I'll choose wisely until I properly introduce foods back into my diet (which I did not).
The downside, lots of prepping and cooking. Don't go overboard. You don't need fancy recipes. Keep it simple to start and take some time on Sunday to do some prepping. Buy precut and prewashed kale or spinach to throw into a pan. It makes life so much easier.
Good luck and DO IT- It's only 30 days.

Thank you! I keep telling myself that it IS only 30 days. I can do it! But, I usually start feeling deprived and quit while dieting. I need to lose 10-15 pounds. My SIL is on the tail end of her first round and said she went from157 to 145. I'm proud of her! I was hoping to hear from others that had good luck. Thanks!

I have tried for a year to lose the 15 lbs that I've gained in the past few year. I always felt deprived. I tried WW in the fall and failed miserably. I hated counting points and logging. I've never felt hungry on Whole30. No counting points, no counting calories or fat. Just eat good stuff. Don't skip out on the healthy fat at each meal- 1/2 avocado, handful of raw cashews, guac or almond butter on an apple. It helps keep you full. I'm amazed at how much I enjoy good, healthy food. There are a couple of good cookbooks too- The Whole30 Cookbook, Nom Nom Paleo and Well Fed come to mind. I bought the Whole30 cookbook. Nom Nom Paleo I borrowed from our online library service and I bought the e version of Well Fed. Also, find a Whole30 support group (or several) on Facebook. Very helpful with a lot of ideas. They find all the Whole30 foods and substitutes for you

A friend of mine has been eating like that for. Year, and she's lost 40 pounds. It's obviously working for her.

My best friend did it since the first of the year and is continuing due to the results she had. She is most happy with how much better her body feels. She had gotten where everything hurt, she was bloated and had zero energy. With Whole 30, the joint pain is virtually gone and she has much more energy.
She said the hardest parts for her were giving up wine/alcohol, the difficulty of eating while away from home (she mentioned a continuing ed training for her job that had nothing she could eat for lunch), and how hard it was to eat on the run/at any fast food places (she's a realtor so a busy day requires a quick lunch some days). But she felt the benefits were worth the difficulties.

I've been looking at this, but I'm not sure that I can survive without cheese! And no peanuts or natural peanut butter??? I gave up most carbs and added sugars over a year ago, but I still want to lose about 8-10 more pounds. I'm debating...

I gave up most carbs and added sugars over a year ago, but I still want to lose about 8-10 more pounds. I'm debating... For me, I have no desire to give up legumes. Given how they have been a dietary staple around the world since the dawn of humankind, I simply don't believe they are bad for us in moderate portions. That said, jmad122 if it is something you can stick to - go for it! Many people have had great success with it. I've lost 32 pounds on WW since the end of September and they won't let me come back if I lose any more without a doctor's note because I'm at the bottom of my healthy weight range. I stopped trying to lose weight 7 pounds ago, but I've changed my eating patterns so much that it has continued to come off.

The great thing about whole 30 for me was that after I gave up everything for a month, and I started adding the foods back into my diet, it was easier to see what affected me and how. So if legumes work for you, add them back in. Giving them up for a month is no big deal. I realized that they really don't work for me. I thought a lot of foods in my diet weren't bad for me, but when I could isolate them and see their effects, the results were surprising. Especially dairy. I love dairy, and I realized that yogurt really disagrees with me. It was shocking and I was sad, but I'm better off without it. There were others, but that was the biggest shock for me.

I just finished my first round on Wednesday. I have not felt this good for quite some time. Well, years. I have Fibro and it seems to have helped with some of that. I don't seem to have had the IBS issues for the last 30 days. I grabbed the Whole 30 book, Nom Nom Paleo and the newest W30 cookbook. Lots of blogs out there to give you some great recipes. I followed the Whole30 IG feed. They have guests each week so you get a glimpse of what they eat.
I plan on trying to stay close to a Paleo lifestyle from here on out. I will have an occasional treat but it will not be an everyday thing. I have found I don't have to have a Coke every day. I have made small changes and modifications to what I normally cook without the rest of the family even knowing. My next big challenge is to cut gluten from our diets. DH has been told by his rheumatologist to cut that from his diet. I have everything except Xanthan Gum to make bread.
I agree with Sawwhet, there is a lot of prepping and meal planning. You can't run errands and then make a drive through run on your lunch. You will get very tired of eggs for breakfast. Just go with leftovers and know that it doesn't matter what time of day it is, it is food. Healthy fats are a must. They keep you full. Miss crunchy things? Plantain chips and a compliant salsa saved the day many times.
It CAN be done. There are so many things harder than this. You just do it one day at a time.

I gave up most carbs and added sugars over a year ago, but I still want to lose about 8-10 more pounds. I'm debating... I thought the same thing. I don't miss cheese or any dairy product...okay, maybe Greek yogurt but I'm not going to add that until after another round of Whole30 in March. I loved natural Peanut Butter but I've replaced it with Almond Butter. The Kirkland brand of Almond Butter is so delicious. It's like crack. Here's an example of a lunch- cauliflower "rice" with sauteed mushrooms, carrots, onions, one egg and green beans, avocado, strawberries, blueberries and three pieces of bacon (compliant-no sugar or additives). My plate is full, every meal. I'm used to eating a plate of food 2/3 full of veggies at every meal including breakfast. Attachments:

I've done it twice (30 days each time, with about 6 months in between). I felt great the first time. But the second time, I relied too much on nuts and Larabars. I didn't have the time to plan out meals and make sure I was eating properly. I didn't have the same success.
I eat fairly healthy, and don't eat dairy (generally) or much bread. So it wasn't a huge stretch for me and I didn't feel deprived. But it is dang near impossible to eat out. Chipotle has a few options. Otherwise, I brought my lunch or skipped out if it involved food. That part sort of stinks.

I agree redhead32, eating out is difficult. I find that farm to table restaurants are really good. Fast food is impossible. You can also get take out from Whole Foods or similar health food stores. Our farmer's market has small restaurants that work too. What about buying cut & washed salad ingredients and prechopped veggies?
Trader Joe's has many options.

I'm starting my first round a week from tomorrow! Search Whole30 (all as one word) and you may find more threads. I searched it here last week. Also joined some Facebook groups.
Hardest thing will be eating out / traveling, not using Splenda in my iced tea (I've been cutting back for a week) and no diet Mtn dew or Coke Zero for me. But I plan to do the best I can. I'm actually looking forward to it!

I buy it at Costco but most health food stores have Almond butter. Whole Foods has one as does Trader Joe's. Aldi has almond butter and cashew butter. The cashew butter is ice and creamy but is very mild. I posted on my "changes" thread, I'm going to start whole 30 within the next few weeks. I'm making changes now but not full speed because I have some other things going on and don't want to set myself up for failure. Yesterday I did really well, my only non-compliance was salad dressing (I made my own oil and vinegar at lunch but was hungry and pooped at dinner - we ate very late. And also trying mio caffeine drops to replace Pepsi. By the time I'm ready to commit I hope I don't need either of those. I'm eating too many almonds though! I like something crunchy.

At the start of the new year I had an acquaintance in the area sign up to give a lucky winner a month of her services for free....she is a nutritionist who is strongly driven with whole30 and clean eating. We started Tuesday, and so far so good. I feel terrific, and I'm loving the options I have. I am doing more of the cleaning eating I assume, as I am using Kerry Gold Cheese on salads. I am consuming a ton of water and tracking my food daily. I send my charts over to her daily, and we already did a shopping trip to Costco. Her biggest tip seems to be Food Prep! She said if you prep it, you will eat it. It's easier to grab the food than to cook something for a long period. I haven't had a soda.....or added sugars since Tuesday. It hasn't been an issue. I want to lose a large amount of weight. I hope this is a fit for me and my weight loss journey. I'm not allowed to check the scale. After all it's only been 5 days.....but if I tell the peas that the scale is down -5.9 pounds, no one will tell on me

If you have a Vitamix or Blendtec blender you can easily make your own cashew and almond butter with no additives and you control the salt level.

I never found an inexpensive almond butter. Target had compliant cashews and other nuts, but they keep moving where they are in the store. If you haven't ever made riced cauliflower, put it on your list. I missed rice A LOT and it got me through. I could have a bowl of cauliflower with a bunch of veggies on it. Doesn't taste the same, but scratched the itch for me.

I'm pretty sure Target's organic nut butters are okay. But I would double check. It's not something I've found I missed. I know a couple people that were shocked to find out that they reacted really poorly to legumes. I think every one should do it at least once. For me I need to do it any time my "sugar dragon " gets out of control. Or really I just need to eat this was 95% off the time.

No dairy except for ghee which has the dairy solids removed. Also, you aren't suppose to weigh yourself during the 30 days so you don't focus on weight loss but rather how you feel. I'm starting another round on March 1.

Trader Joe's has the concensus favorite almond butter from what I saw in a Facebook group. I bought the ground up stuff at Whole Foods last week but it was $10 and some change. Now that I know TJ's is good, I'll make sure to buy it next time!
I'm starting tomorrow. I'm excited, but anxious about travel, which is 15/30 days. I have to figure out what to do at the racetrack. I've been at the track every day since Thursday, and my eating was once again atrocious. I'm currently munching on saltine goldfish while this race goes on until I can get somewhere to eat lunch. I guess I'll have to put some almonds and lara bars and something else compliant in my pockets to get through until I can get to actual meals.
