Hey everyone, It was my mum's birthday yesterday so we are having her over for dinner tonight ... I'm making roast chicken with gravy, stuffing, potatoes, peas and carrots My mum just spent four days in Las Vegas and she is still recovering from all of the walking She bought me this gorgeous sparkly evening bag to take to the ballet ... I took it last night ... oh, and BalletBoyz was really good Here is the meme I posted on FB today ... I cook for my family pretty much every night but by the time I serve everyone else and get my own plate they are almost done eating ... I end up finishing mine by myself What is on your menu tonight?

I'm here!!!
My plan was for inside out egg rolls but dh and dd decided they wanted 'real' egg rolls. They bought wrappers yesterday and they aren't really bad, calorie wise, but I refuse to fry them. I told them they will be baked. But now I'm wondering if the recipe I found (maybe linked here?) is going to be too 'saucy' for filling wrappers. Ugh. I wish they'd just get on board with what I want...LMAO!!! So we're having some kind of egg roll or filling for dinner. They will have ground pork and shrimp along with the cabbage and carrots.
And because of my desire to make this recipe and deciding to shred the cabbage and carrots myself dh and I had to go on a huge search (have I mentioned he's the king of organization?) for the slicer/shredder attachment for my Kitchen Aid this morning. He insisted he'd never seen it before. I insisted it was still in the original box. Care to guess who was right and who put it in a storage bin labeled "sewing machine"? In his defense the sewing machine was in there as well! I love my husband but oh.my.goodness. he tests my patience sometimes! Oh, and we still haven't found the vase he bought about 9 months ago to replace all of the other vases that have somehow disappeared!!

Lol that is so true!
Tonight I am indoor grilling turkey burgers and serving them with fries, fruit salad, and pasta salad. It may be wet and cold, but we have all been craving my turkey burgers.

We're having funeral sandwiches, roasted potatoes, and.... I don't know, but you can assume it won't be a salad.

Dinner? Nothing! DD had leftover pizza, I had some Pringles and chocolate, and DH didn't exactly choose anything healthy either. But tomorrow is a new and better day.
Woke up waaaay to early from the frantic cries of "mommy, mommy! I have a nosebleed!". It took four hours before the bleeding stopped (most likely caused by her coughing, poor little thing), so no skiing for her today. Hope she is well enough tomorrow.....

And can I say I'm so grateful for our quiet little corner on the interwebz?

And can I say I'm so grateful for our quiet little corner on the interwebz? Me too! As a result of the election I have blocked several of my Facebook friends and stopped going to a message board that I was an active part of for about 15 years. I miss a couple of the people but just couldn't deal with the nastiness any longer. 😕

Things might get a bit heated around here during election time, but it's only for a few weeks and as soon as the election is over, everything settles down. And I can't even begin to describe how grateful I am for that. We have an election this coming autumn, and no one will start campaigning until late summer.

I cook for my family pretty much every night but by the time I serve everyone else and get my own plate they are almost done eating ... I end up finishing mine by myself oh no - that wouldn't fly at my house - we all wait until everyone has food, we say grace, and THEN we eat AND we stay at the table until everyone is done too (barring extenuating circumstances). dinner tonight is weekday cottage pie - I'm hoping DD16 is cooking...I started a new med yesterday and haven't been feeling all that well - the pharmacist did say it can cause nausea and GI upset until my body adjusts and sure enough Hopefully it helps though

I used to do what I called "slow cooker Sunday" every week, but somehow I fell off the path. Picking it up today -- I have split pea soup going, and I bought a nice loaf of whole grain bread at the grocery store today to go with it. Since dinner is "done," I'm having a glass of wine and reading. It's smelling pretty good in my house right now!!

We had brats and hot dogs and chips - lazy Sunday afternoon at my house. DH is watching some Alaska show and I'm needlepointing. Did take the dog out for a short walk - so he's napping now.

Tonight I'm doing Italian sausage and sauce. DH's mouth is still too tender for pizza and he's pining for Italian, so pasta it is. I'm here!!! My plan was for inside out egg rolls but dh and dd decided they wanted 'real' egg rolls. My DH and DD used to do this to me, or at least, they tried. If they wanted something different, then they had to make it. When it comes to choosing what to have, I invite their opinion when I'm making out my weekly menu, but even then I give them a list of what I'm willing to make. DH is grateful to have dinner cooked, so he doesn't mind; DD is usually willing to cook at least 2 meals a week when she's home, sometimes more. Marcy

We are having grill food since the weather is so nice here. Steak kabobs for 2. Salmon for the rest. Having Costco super 7 salad, mozzarella & tomato salad. We also have some leftover mashed potatoes. I really want what Leanne made though.

I really want what Leanne made though. I thought the same thing. It sounds so good! Well, except for the peas. Peas, the vegetable, not the message board kind, are evil.

I was sleeping 4 hours ago, it was just after 6am on Monday morning!!! Tonight we are have the pork belly that I had made for last night's dinner. I tell you what, it had better be good after all this - 3 days in the making! We ended up having lasagne last night.

mlana...dh does way more cooking than I do. I did make egg rolls but it was no more work...took about 5 minutes to roll them and toss them in the oven!! And the rave reviews made it well worth my time!!

I finally made it to the thread. Tonight dh is making spagetti bolognese in the Instant Pot and my doctor has challenged me to take 6 sips of soup. I'm up for it and I'm confident that it'll work. I'm halfway through treatment, so it's time to test the waters. I still don't miss doing the dishes. Gee, it's gonna be tough when I get back home.
FTR-this is indeed a safe little haven from the nasty threads. The dinner tribe always has a great attitude.

It's a drizzly day here and it's supposed to rain like the dickens later tonight. I've got a beef stew simmering and the rolls are rising. I'm thinking of making a mixed berry cobbler for dessert.

We fell off the low carb wagon on Friday night and we've still haven't climbed back on...maybe Monday. For tonight it's mac and cheese with a broccoli side. I tutored this afternoon, so dinner had to be thrown together quickly.
I'll add my thanks to everyone for making this a nice place to fall each day.

Tonight I am making chicken thighs marinated in a package of mojito marinade that I bought, Knorr's chicken noodles, and Asian salad from a bag. Easy peasy.

DH just kind of pulled stuff from the freezer, so we're having chicken schnitzel, rice, beets, and a green salad. Not too bad for off top of his head.

I put boneless chicken breasts and salsa in the instant pot. When it was done, I shredded and served it on flour shells with shredded cheese, chopped orange pepper, red onions and sour cream. Sooooo easy and good.
