I'm not going to watch trump's speech cause I can't look at him anymore or listen to him talk. I'll read the transcript.
However I have MSNBC on and I guess the White House has released snippets of what trump is going to say. That it is an upbeat speech instead of his previous ones that depress the hell out of you.
But this one snippet has popped up a couple of times.
"The time for trival fights is behind us".
If this is indeed in the speech I'm wondering what "trivial" thing he is talking about?
The repeal but the lack of a better replacement for the ACA?
The Muslim Ban?
Thw wholesale round up of undocumented individuals?
The dismantling of agencies like EPA?
I suppose to him these might be trivial but then he isn't the one that hurt by some of them.
In anycase it will be interesting to see what he has to say.

IMO, the most trivial "fights" have been about his electoral college votes and the size of the inauguration. But I doubt that it what he is referring to.

He could start with stopping the narcissistic twitter attacks. But I'm sure he's talking about how everyone else can improve their behavior.

I'm listening (and drinking) only because I want to hear what he has to say (reading a prepared speech he didn't write) I have a sleep mask on, I can't watch. He got a huge round of applause. Cameras didn't pan on dem side.
This will be interesting.

I decreed that people in the executive branch can't lobby for 5 years (because that is more important than other stuff) AKA, I am afraid of Obama's influence so I don't want him to do anything until after the next election.

Do sitting presidents usually clap for themselves? I can't remember either Obama or Bush clapping during their addresses.

If he's going to hogtie Canada's merit based immigration system, he needs to also adopt the humanitarian and refugee class of immigrants that are readily accept each year. He makes it sound like we only take in those who have money and need nothing from the government.

I am disturbed by the booing. I don't like what he's saying, but I don't think you should boo the president during his speech.

For some reason, even though I know his staff wrote this speech, whenever he gives a statistic or a "someone said" I automatically assume he's pulling this info outta his butt and I shouldn't believe it.

I'm recording the speech because DH can't bear to listen to Trump speak. I will read comments on Twitter during the speech. At least I can fast forward through it when I can't take anymore.
Trump is so self serving I have a hard time believing he is even considering any type of compromise. No matter how he talks about playing nice we can not let his Russian ties go unanswered.

I think the lack of respect he's shown past Presidents, women, minorities, immigrants, the disabled, etc has made showing a lack of respect to those in authority or in need acceptable. Not that I agree with it, but if he's leading by example, this is what you reap.

All this shit he says he's going to do...I want him to say HOW he's going to do it. Sure, it all sounds great on paper, but excuse me sir, can you explain how you're going to get all this stuff done.

AYFKM?
Dismantle departments that do good for this country, keeps us safe, and other things, but create a new government entity that is solely focused on victims of crimes from immigrants?

Why does he look so ridiculously short at the podium? It is almost comical.

It is the Three Stooges filling the television screen, Pence, Ryan and trump.
Now he is claiming and quoting Mattis as saying that they obtained the most vital information from the Yemen raid. I had understood that it was proven that little vital information was obtained.

Good gravy, someone took over his body.
He spoke in full sentences! He stayed on script! None of his normal bragging..... Slipped in a "blame the generals" on Yeman but "we got lots of intelligence out of the raid"--I read otherwise in the news.....
Let's see if he can deliver what he spoke of in this speech.

I understand he got a laugh when he said he was draining the swamp.
He mislead about the 94M people not working. Included in that number are people like me. Retired.

It was a fantastic speech. Not surprised at the snipes, but more and more, I find myself just smiling at the Trump haters thinking "you go right on with your big bad selves". In the meantime, this President is keeping the campaign promises he made to the people who voted for him. And I for one Am thrilled. Thrilled. At last we might get some sanity back in this country.
And other than forcing employers to pay for maternity leave, I agreed with everything he said and frankly can't understand how any rational person who loves their country could disagree with what he said.
Go President Trump
