April is being rotten. She's been standing super still for a while. I had to watch her ears to make sure the feed hadn't dropped. And, you can only see her from about the middle of her back and forward. Her business end is out of camera range/blocked by the enclosure. I have been watching this and wondering if they have a plan for a different camera angle if she is in a bad location for this camera. Sure would be a shame to miss the big event after a-l-l this time.

I'm pretty sure I read that the park has said they'll be documenting the birth with other cameras, both still and video, to capture angles not shown on the feed camera. They'll upload those later. I've looked but can't find where I picked up that info, though. The park's Facebook page has a lot of good shots. There is one from yesterday of one of the keepers kissing April's belly. It's really sweet.

I was trying to show my husband during our lunch date and she was so far off camera in the left corner not moving. Lol.

I'm gonna be the one that says I wish that the Toys R Us logo was in the upper right corner, so I could watch her using the puzzle feeder.

She's hanging on for April. I feel really sorry for her having been cooped up for so long - has her mate been inside the whole time too?
I thought it was happening earlier ....but it was just a poop. I can't believe how much time I have spent watching a giraffe's rear.

Exactly. It seems April doesn't want to go outside. She's nice and cozy waiting on her baby. The Park also couldn't let them out while it was snowy and icy.

Thanks gale, every time I have looked it has just been the two of them apparently shut up together, good to know they have had the choice of some fresh air!

3/3 Evening Update
It was clear to all watching, the evening keeper check was cut short by April. Her behavior is very off from normal demeanor; this is to be expected. Mammary development photos were not captured, but udders reported as full. It should not be much longer!
We hope to have an official text alert system available for subscription tomorrow. Subscribing will get you a Labor Alert text, but also exclusive texts, info, photo links, and calf updates over the coming months. Much of the content will be exclusive to the text alert community. A portion of the fee will get kicked back to the Giraffe Conservation Foundation for wild conservation of giraffes. When that is available - we will post on all social media platforms and our websites.
Tune in tomorrow morning to Good Morning America for a live segment from the Giraffe Barn. GMA crews and Toys R Us will be on site for the LAST media interview before we have a calf (if one is not born this evening)!
We wish everyone a good evening (or day)! Keep watching - we are in the home stretch!

I even checked in on her yesterday during my very short lunch time. Today I have a break of 1.5 hours during the day (omg, unheard of in the elementary school subbing world) and I'll be taking my charging cord for my phone so I can check on April. lol

April was just on GMA! The owner says that she has progressed significantly overnight and that we shouldn't look away too long if we want to catch the birth.
It was so nice to see April in high def color.

3/31 Morning Update The staff have been onsite with April all morning, Dr Tim was called and onsite within minutes. All observations, behavior, and predictions suggest a calf today, tonight - we would be shocked to get through the weekend without our newest addition. This is what we have all been waiting for! Keep April and our team in your positive thoughts. Www.aprilthegiraffe.com is your source for all things April. We encourage you to shop NOW if you want April Gear before supply becomes backordered and the sale ends. We will keep the world posted. Our team will be live from the nursery barn at 9:15 this morning with updates and a visit with our baby goats!

She's been standing there for a very long time, with her face to the camera, chewing her cud, as if to dare us to get bored and go do something else.

She really doesn't seem to want to move around at all this morning. And her stool isn't formed, it's just little pooples. Really haven't seen much (or any) tail-raising either.

I have been following along with the April drama......the drama of what part of her stall she will be in. lOL! The giraffe births that I watched on the youtubes looked like the giraffes went off by themselves and had their babies.....so April looks like the closer she gets the less alone time she has, there are people outside her pen all the time it looks like today. Does that mean she can hold off giving birth until nobody is looking? They mentioned in one of their talks that a giraffe will hide being in labor as a protection in the wild, so is April going to hide it all until nobody is there?
I would also think since this is April's 4th calf that there would be documentation about her past births, I wonder how those went? It looks like they are setting up or have set up a text system that of course costs money for those receiving the texts, this has become a little money maker for the zoo....it is nice to know that people are supporting the zoo's efforts but on the other hand it might be getting out of control a tad bit. I had their chat up on the youtube last night for a while and it showed some people's names in color blocks with the explanation on the top that they had donated money and how much by the color......I'm not sure how I feel about that.
