I thought they were originally going to have an outside cam going. Did they decide not to do this?

Just an fyi for those of you who are home to be able to watch. I wrote it on my calendar. lol It will be so sad. Here's what the Facebook post says... Good morning! All is well and baby continues to gain! A small floor scale has been implemented to get a read on baby without separating mom and handling calf. This is the corner the little guy prefers - inconveniently out of camera view! Giraffe Cam will go dark Friday at 4:30 pm eastern. We will all be there to say goodbye. The future plans will be announced next week of when and how you can check on baby. Text alert subscribers will receive weekly photo updates also. Www.aprilthegiraffe.com Is still your source for all things Giraffe and Animal Adventure. The baby names are still rolling in! .... on a on a happier note did you all see that precious photo of April's baby, he's right up close, front and Center smiling! Omg melts my heart.

Im not quite convinced there wont be another (pay for view) of the baby coming. The whole 'future plans for baby' comment in their press release makes me think it will be like the text you sign up for...pay a fee and see baby.

A small floor scale has been implemented to get a read on baby without separating mom and handling calf. Why did they need to weigh the baby? If he looks healthy and is behaving normally, what really is the point? It looked so traumatic to the baby to be separated from his momma and then be picked up by a human. Mom was pacing back and forth in the next stall watching all of this clearly agitated. I can't believe the baby is already as tall as the men! How many days is she? Do giraffes breast feed?

Giraffes are mammals so they do "breastfeed". Her udders are in the same area as a cow's udders. I'm guessing they weigh the baby to make sure he's growing properly.

So I watched the parks See you soon video posted on Facebook and park owner said they'll post later next week about their plans which includes having a cam up for certain times so it sounds like they'll have some "scheduled" viewing times. Good news!! Nice to know we can check in on Oliver, April, and baby eventually.

I just hope they don't charge a subscription fee to continue watching...although I have to admit, I'd probably consider it if that's what they do!
