Hmmm not sure if I can go back to sleep now but going to try. Truthfully hoping there's no baby until I can watch it live! Lol. Poor April, I'm sure she's so over this pregnancy.

Hahahaha best comments over on FB -- people wanting to know which company is the park's internet provider so they can be sure never to give them any business. lol. Yeah...if we end up missing the birth because of the internet I want to know who it is also.

I really hope someone didn't intentionally do something to their internet connection. There have been some nut jobs complaining along this whole journey. Hopefully it's back up and running very soon.
I love some of the pics they put up on FB. The one with this latest status makes me want to rub that fuzzy nose.

Facebook Update From Animal Adventure Park Good morning! There is an internet outage on our end at this time. Our team Is in the giraffe barn trying to establish connection. Nothing wrong with April and baby and no this is not the hoax many anticipated. Thank you for that update!

April the giraffe will give birth when she and the calf are ready. The anticipation is great because so many people have been watching forever. National news picked it up yesterday. I hope the birth goes well, and that both April and calf stay healthy! We won't really see active labor until it is within the hour. This is a park that takes their animal care very seriously, and the less interference the better! Go April! Yes, there are some nut jobs out there! A few trolls on their youtube feed too.

Sorry this is late in posting, I woke with a headache Darn 3am iPad usage. Lol. 4/1 Afternoon Update The vet has made his second visit of the day. When we thought she could not "bag up" further - she most certainly has. April is not touching her grain, but is accepting carrots. You may see her lifting each leg, pinning ears, dazing off, raising tail - those behaviors are what we want to see and expect to increase in frequency. We will continue to keep you posted.

You know, I am so excited to see April give birth but I am gonna miss her once the cameras are gone! Me too! I've so enjoyed popping in and watching them both for a bit then getting on with my day. They're magnificent creatures and learning more about them has been fascinating. I will indeed miss April and Oliver. I did read read on the official page under q&as I believe, that the cam will stay for a while while the baby stays with April before being move to another zoo. They relocate the new Giraffes to prevent inbreeding. Anyway it'll be a pleasure to watch the baby for awhile. I've always wanted to go to New York, been to the state once while in a Ontario visiting, I have a renewed interest in making that trip again!

Vet was just in to check on April and take some photos. Now, someone is feeding her some carrots right by the camera. She's a stitch. She sticks her long tongue out and waves it around until hand of the carrot.

You know, I am so excited to see April give birth but I am gonna miss her once the cameras are gone! One of my favorite things about our zoo is the giraffe outdoor space. You can walk right up to the giraffes and feed them (at eye level) and pet them. The zoo sells crackers and the giraffes are so friendly. I think a giraffe's personality is just so affable. It is so fun to see the little kids get slobbered by the giraffes. They have about a dozen of them outside at one time, so you can always pet a giraffe.

We don't have any zoos close by but we do have a kangaroo farm I've never visited. I'll have to this summer.

I am sort of watching the feed today. My cat is very interested. He never watches television, but he's intrigued with the giraffe.

I stayed up till 2.30am last night. I was doing stuff, but keeping an eye on her was something that helped keep me awake. First thing I did when I woke up this morning was check the feed. Felt bad that she was STILL pregnant, but glad that I didn't miss it.

I've really enjoyed just being able to watch their behavior up close. The giraffes at the Taronga Zoo were always my favorites to visit, and so its been really nice to be allowed to watch these two. She has the sweetest personality. I'd really love to visit there one day. Maybe when we go east to visit my hubbys family in new jersey, we'll make a trip there next time. It doesn't look that far from Jersey. Worth an overnight trip, I think.

4/1 Evening Update. From Facebook post. Joke is on us! But, don't worry - we'll text ya! I would be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for an April Fools baby! Though the evening is not over, April's relaxed nature and lack of urgency has us guessing we will get through midnight before the calf joins us. April continues to ignore her grain, zones in and out of awareness, exhibits soft contraction indications, and is even producing manure size and consistency hinting of a birth - though we are not yet in what we will call "active labor". Our big girl is comfortable, confident, and continues to keep her composure - better than the rest of us! TEXT ALERT SYSTEM: The Labor Alert and Baby Update text system is now ready for you to subscribe! It will provide you immediate updates, and exclusive content, from labor to May 31st. This will be your first line for updates from labor, to first steps, to first day outside, and more. Subscribe at: www.AprilthegiraffeAlert.comThis is the one and only true up to the minute source and notification system for April and baby. This evening's photo is of April and my Niece at dusk. Happy Birthday Reagan!

Am I the only one who sometimes notices a distinctive "bulge" under her tail? It seems to come and go, and every time I see it, I am just SURE a hoof is going to appear. LOL Oh, the time I have spent/wasted looking at a giraffe's hiney.
