Still nothing That poor mama! I wonder if there is a pretty name in Greek or Italian or Spanish that means "Baby who refused to be born"?

I've been unintentionally busy the last little bit and probably managed a whole 1 minute of watching April, and she always seemed to be back in a corner. Well she's front and center right now and my has her shape changed. I've never watched hours on end or anything like that but even watching for 5 minutes a couple times a day you don't notice her changing size difference as much I guess. She looks so ready!

4/14 Morning Update April is already out and enjoying the sunshine for the day. Grain intake remains moderate. Light discharge continues. Otherwise, all is normal and well - as expected. The only real drastic changes we will see from here is active labor - no much more change / development can occur. Again - please excuse the sporadic/tardy post times this month. We are in construction/opening mode and routines are no longer routines on the April the Giraffe side of our operation. On that note - back to work! Lots to do, and little time! Stay current on all things April: www.Aprilthegiraffe.comLabor Text Alert: www.aprilthegiraffealert.comGiraffe Factoid: Numbers Game We Cannot Lose! Estimations as of 2016, indicate that there are approximately 97,500 members of Giraffa in the wild, with around 1,144 in captivity. Conservation and preservation efforts are no joke and need your help now! Photo of Corey & April from a couple weeks ago

Really cute interaction between April, Oliver, and the people just now. All morning Oliver has been looking longingly over the stall and out April's open doorway, like he's saying "oh please let me out". Meanwhile April has been sunning herself in the doorway, and only went out for a bit.
So just now they put Oliver in April's stall so they could open his outside door. He leaped in, and then started getting assertive with her. Banging his neck on her, and physically moving her with his body. On one of their updates the zoo said it's not aggression as much as it's assertion. -- He also spent quite awhile sniffing her rear. lol. I was hoping he was sniffing the baby.
Anyway, they opened his outside door and then the inside door so he could come from April's stall and go outside. He would not go out of April's stall! After all that wishful thinking this morning about going outside...lolol. He just stood there looking at them. One of the women came a little bit into April's stall and talked to him. He ignored her. Then one of the men came to the stall door and looked like he was wagging his finger at him as if to say "okay enough fooling around Mister, come out of there!" And he came out! hahahaha. Walked straight outside as if it was all his idea to begin with.
April was probably thinking "these darn boys!"
I ordered a pin from Etsy this morning that says "I waited all March for April". lol.

I have to say that her behavior is SO different from typical that I wouldn't be surprised if labor is imminent.

The park owner was just in there a couple minutes ago checking her out. They must think something's up. She hasn't stopped pacing and whipping that tail around for quite awhile now. She also keeps stretching her neck up, nose pointed toward the sky and pacing. Very agitated.

They are trying to temp her with a treat by the camera, but she isn't having any of it.

Awww, I'm probably going to miss it. Watching her pace so much makes me feel bad for her. Yes, I'm a sap

And let me just say that I got into fights with dh the night before ds1 and ds2 were born. And since ds1 was 3 weeks early and ds2 was 6 weeks early, it wasn't as if we had any inkling.

Yes, she has really pacing around for a while. Stream offline now - does that mean they're in checking on her?

I just checked there's an update about regular maintenance to camera but the Park has noticed the interesting behavior so wishful thinking or not she's definitely not herself.
