I posted this thread a few days ago to get opinions: 2peasrefugees.boards.net/post/1594177/threadIf I throw this dress in the mix, what are you thoughts? Or these that were in the original post: Or this? I get that such a rich purple isn't a summer color but it is the color the bride chose. I am thinking that maybe the first one would be more summery. Maybe? I really appreciate your help. The bride is now living out of state and the only other person to ask is my husband's ex-wife and I am just not ready to go down that road. KWIM?!

Is it really formal or not so much. The top on just isn't formal for me.
What does the bride think?
Personally I like the middle one. There is something about the 3rd one I don't like.
So for me it would go 2 1 3

Ooooh I like the top one a lot! My second choice would be the middle one. They both have movement and don't look quite as "monolithic" as the third one.

I agree that the new one you've posted doesn't look as formal as the other 2 original dresses, but I still think it would be fine to wear to a wedding. Plus you would probably get more wear out of it than the other 2 because it doesn't look as formal.

I like #2 best but #1 is ok too. There's something about #3 that just doesn't look right.

I wore an eggplant colored dress to our DD's July wedding. It was a good color for me. The groom's mom wore a silvery beige. She is blonde and it looked lovely on her.
I like the center dress best. But I will admit it may be because it is pretty much the color of the dress I wore. The top dress is cute, I love the color, but it's too cAsual.

I like #2 the best. The color is beautiful and the ruffle adds a fun touch.

#2 first choice, #3 second choice. I'm slightly concerned that the ruffle with #2 would be a bit much. Can you order them both and return one?
#1 looks like the hem may be split like a wrap dress? I'd be sure to flash someone with a cut like that!

The first one just looks messy to me. This. I love the color, but I'd be constantly playing with the all the draping to make sure it was hanging correctly.

I like #2 - but the real question is which one do you feel fabulous in?
As an aside, in my circles it's traditional for the mothers ad grandmothers (including steps) to wear colors that coordinate with the bridal colors, but not mimic them. If the bride's color is deep plum, I would go lighter (although I really don't think the first dress is that flattering - if you choose it, make sure you have a damn good bra) or even another color as long as it would coordinate with the plum and not stand out - unless the bride has requested everyone wear plum.

I love the colors, but seriously I dislike those dresses. Unless they look different in real life. They are going to make you look huge on top.

I really dislike dress #3. I quite like the other two. Probably lean toward the middle one, but barely.

I don't like #2 at all.. Don't care for the fabric or the flouncy thing.
I like #3 a lot and #1 it is more casual. I would wear it a lot.

I like the middle one the best. I would worry the first is a bit casual, but it's a backyard reception and you said the bride doesn't care so it might be perfect. Agree with a PP...get a great bra.

The color of 1 screams "I'm an old lady" to me--I mean, that color seriously makes me want to cry. I like the flirty ruffles on 2 but I'm not sure what's going on with the fabric--is it a partial print or just a texture in the fabric like a moire? I like the warmer purple of 3 the best of all the dresses but the style of the dress itself is just kind of meh.

I definitely like number 2 but the colour is too wintery for me. I love the style and I'm sure it will be fine but it doesn't scream summer wedding.

I pick number 2, though I usually wear dresses similar to number 3. The color of number 1 doesn't do much for me.I get hot flashes and the light color would show the perspiration easily.
Personally, I would order the three and return the ones I didn't like after trying them on. The dress that stayed closed or together on top would be the winner. I don't want the girls to pop out in the breeze!
