Hey everyone! It's my 50th birthday on the 25th so my two closest friends are taking me to the mountains overnight (I live in Calgary where the mountains are less than an hour away ... very convenient ) We'll shop a little, go to this really excellent restaurant, sit in the hotel hot tub and just have girl time ... I can't wait Dd#1 has to work so no worries about feeding her ... So dh and dd#2 will hit some fast food place ... probably Peter's Drive In What's on your menu tonight?

Love the idea of a friend and a full tank of gas! Dinner around here will be me and one of the boys (the one that came home this weekend.) Original plan was a big family dinner, but the matriarch is sick and doesn't want to spread her funk around so it is me and the boy. I think we are going to go out for wings. And curly fries. I think it sounds just right. The only request the boy has is chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. So you know what? That child will have chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. Even if I have to grind the flour myself.

Home from vacation for about 2 hours now. 2nd load of laundry running, and DH has done a grocery run, as shops are shut here Sunday and Easter Monday. Dinner tonight is homemade pizza, which is cooking right now, so we can get to church for the 8:30 vigil Mass.

The tribe honors the bubbly and fun-loving weekend tribal leader with a resounding yodel: HAVE A GREAT TIME! COME BACK AND TELL US ALL ABOUT IT SO WE CAN DO SOME TRIBAL COOKING IN OUR KITCHENS WITH HAPPINESS AND JOY! Tonight is skinny pork chops, cooked cabbage and carrots, grilled potatoes, and rhubarb pie. I paid $8 for the rhubarb and my fingers are red from slicing it - but dh's mom used to make delicious rhubarb desserts for Easter Sunday and we remember her pies well. Thanks for the thread. Be sure to take clean underwear leannec .

I was so focussed on getting things ready for tomorrow that I kind of forgot I had to make dinner tonight. There is mystery fish in the freezer that I think I will saute with broccolini in a lemon garlic sauce and toss with pasta. Have fun in the mountains, leannec!

It's time to start celebrating the birthday of my partner in crime. Have a super fun weekend, leannec . Great meme! We have tons of leftovers. It's a fend night. Trixie Bender, what are you having for takeout? (I had to edit that, because I used Trollie's name instead.) Have a fun Saturday.

Remember those two large pizzas dh bought Thursday night? Yup. We're still eating them. I had one slice last night and may have two tonight. I've already stated that after today I'm DONE with it!! My nephew's girlfriend (and I can only assume my brother) planned a memorial/celebration of life for 4:30 today about an hour and a half away. As it was explained to another brother it's a "pot luck and drink a lot of alcohol" event. We've opted to not attend. Days like today make me feel really sad about my family with very weird dynamics.

Well, the kids left today so we'll be scrounging in the fridge for leftovers. Probably ribs or spaghetti and meatballs. There's still lemon cheesecake or individual little pies for dessert.

Going with something easy and well liked... Spaghetti and meatballs! Will make a green salad to go with it.
We're having tri tip sandwiches for Easter dinner. I'm making coleslaw to go with it. For dessert I am making a carrot cake trifle. The top will be strawberries dipped in Orange candy melts to look like carrots. I bought edible grass to garnish with as well. Not sure what the dirt will be yet. Maybe graham cracker crumbs.

This week is National Telecommunicators week. I am a 911 dispatcher, and that is the "fancy" name for us. In any event...it has been food food food all week over here at work lol. Today Is sub sandwiches provided by our jail staff. There are cookies, brownies, chips...all sorts of junk leftover from all weeks celebrations. I quit sugar a couple of months ago...so this temptation has been tough but I am sure I will have plenty to eat!

We just got back from a quick trip up to the house. 4 hours in the car is tiring! I-5 southbound north of Stockton was completely shut down. I assume there was an accident but we never saw anything except many police cars and 3 lanes of totally stopped traffic. I pray no one was killed.
We went up to see how the painter did ~ he and his crew are incredible!! They painted the entire inside, 2 coats, plus the ceiling, baseboards, doors, etc. Took Plantation Shutters off of all the windows and put them back. Amazing. Worth every penny. I need to do a Yelp review.
DS has a table and chairs/bench being delivered for his dining room between 5-6 so I guess I'll do spaghetti.

KelleeM......Lots of ((( hugs !!)))) leannec ......Have a BLAST with your friends !!!! Happy ALMOST birthday! We had sandwiches and macaroni salad. Some of you know I've been struggling with a BIG increase in depression, plus a NEW thing---anxiety---Ugh! THANK YOU again for alllll of your kindness/ encouragement/ prayers !!! Eating has also been VERY difficult in the past couple months. I'm a chubby gal who NORMALLY loves her food----sooo, this was a huge sign of worsening depression for me. I've been going to counseling, got a new med yesterday (Buspar---for anxiety), lotttsa prayer, abd naybe once my GYN gets my hormone lab results; she can help me out with other "stuff" like those bio-identical hormones? I'm feeling GREAT today---I haven't felt GREAT for an ENTIRE DAY in quite a while----so I am THANKFUL! I've been absorbed in lots of prayer and listening to some of my favorite online pastors' messages.---trying to focus on the JOY of Easter & all I'm thankful for! But I've had some ROUGH days this week---ugh----depression and anxiety are CRUEL !! I'm also VERY thankful to the Good Lord today because although I am missing our families and all the FUN Easters we used to have; I'm not SAD about it like I was a few days ago! Also, today is the 8 year anniversary of my precious baby brother dying-----the worst day of my life thus far, and I miss him, of course ----BUT----I can honestly say that time DOES heal (at least for me!), and it's just not as PAINFUL as it was a few years ago! I've been crying SO MUCH lately about so many things, so for me NOT to cry and NOT be sad about my brother --- who I ADORED----is a GREAT thing!!! Just to clarfiy---I promise I'm not in denial or anything----hee hee---there ARE still times where I think of how much I miss him and the tears flowwww......I'm just thankful it's NOT happening today---I have enough other thngs going on! THank you for reading my novel!

I don't think I ever reported in yesterday, but I took my almost-88yo mom to Red Lobster for LobsterFest yesterday. She wanted to check it out. I told her she gets to pay next year. We sure know how to live it up around here! Today I'm at my monthly all-day crop with a friend. We already went out mid-afternoon for Italian food. That counts as dinner. If I get hungry again, there's plenty of chocolate. ETA scrappintoee, so sorry for your recent anxiety and depression issues, but I'm glad you're having a good day.

scrappintoee, Your meds and therapy are kicking in and doing their job. Enjoy today and be prepared for more good days to come. At first it might be on and off. Don't get discouraged if you don't have a series of good days. That's OK. You're on the mend and that's the most important thing. You've had a horrible loss in your past and you're learning to live life well despite it.

We spent part of the afternoon packing up some of ds' dorm room, then watched the Tigers game and went to Outback for dinner. We haven't been there in forever! Now dh and I are hanging out at the hotel watching Suicide Squad while ds finishes up some homework back at the dorm. Not sure how much I will on tomorrow, so I will say today: Have a blessed Easter, dinner thread tribe. He is risen!
