Really, those papers just prove that Melanell owns the car. Not that the yahoo driving it is melanell.

I usually carry ID only when I am driving. When I am out with DH and he is driving, I don't generally carry anything but my phone. If I am walking/running I don't carry ID, unless I plan on stopping at the store.

Yes I do. I can only remember one time when I didn't have my DL and I got pulled over for speeding. The officer just took my information. It happened to be my birthday. Happy Birthday to me! lol I got an expensive ticket, but I deserved it. I didn't have my DL with me because my husband had taken me to a comedy club the night before. He kept my DL in his wallet so I could get in the club. We just forgot to put it back in my wallet.

Yes, always. Even if I'm just taking a walk in the neighborhood. If I get hit by a car or have a medical issue, I want them to be able to tell who I am.

I take my purse when leaving the house so I always have ID, including my insurance cards. When I was doing physical therepy had my drivers license clipped to my HC placard in the car and didn't take my purse. Then I sometimes didn't put it back in my purse and would need it.

Anyways when driving, never when walking (for exercise). Unless someone steals my phone, they (whoever find me) can call "mom" or "dad" I guess and they'd contact my husband.

Only if I'm driving. We live in a tiny town (15.000 inhabitants), and if something happened to me, it wouldn't take long for the police to find out who I am.

If my husband is driving, I don't have any ID on me and usually don't have my cell phone either.

I keep mine in my car because I don't always carry a purse and I want to make sure that I have it if I'm driving, so if I'm out walking, I don't have it on me.

Yes, unless I am in the neighborhood. I always have it when I drive and if I think I forgot it, I will turn around to retrieve.

I worked in the insurance industry as a claim adjuster and learned never, ever should you leave any identity in your vehicle. If your car was stolen, they would have all your information!!! Never leave your insurance papers or registration in the glove box either. Same thing, if your car got stolen the lucky thief would have proof of ownership with him!!!! Insurance papers and registration cards are not "proof of ownership." You really only need to worry about thieves getting their hands on your street address, especially when they know you're away from home. But I keep the car registration and insurance card in the glove box all the same. They're required to be with the car, and I don't need to be carrying them around in my purse with me. And if I let someone else drive the car, they would need the papers themselves. Besides, your purse can get stolen, too. Life is risky. Embrace it. Yes, same here. Also, we have two drivers, so if DH has my car, he wouldn't have the insurance/registration as it would be in my purse. So if he got pulled over, he'd be in trouble.

Yes! I want to have ID on me in case something happens to me. I'm so paranoid that I have my daughter's name and phone number as my lock screen on my phone.

I always AT LEAST carry my idea. Even when I go for a walk from my house (rural roads, no sidewalks) I'll tuck it in a pocket. Stuff happens.

Most of the time. The other day I was behind a lady who was probably 8o+ and she was carded for buying beer at Target.
Sometimes when I walk the kids to school or home from school I'll forget to bring it with me, otherwise I try to bring at least my license.
Car registration and insurance card are in the car so I don't have to remember to bring them with me.

I'm surprised so many people don't carry identification when walking/jogging, esp. after that "what to bring to college" thread.
I always do. If something happens to me during a run and I'm incapacitated, I want people to know who the hell I am and where the heck I live.

ALWAYS.
When I'm traveling in a car that somebody else is driving, I stick an expired drivers license in a clothing pocket. Because if I happened to be in a car accident and I'm critically injured, I want the responding emergency personnel to know who I am.
In my experience with critical accidents, responding personnel don't always grab cell phones and purses so I want my identification on my body if I'm not in my vehicle.
My brother has been in two horrific accidents that left him unconscious. Neither his wallet nor phone were taken from his truck when they removed him both times. Thankfully, both times he was in his own vehicle, BUT, it took almost 24 hours to be notified of his accidents and that he was in a hospital each time.

That wouldn't work for us because we each drive the others car depending on where we go it what we are doing. Honestly I am not concerned leaving my registration or insurance in the car. It's just not that big of a threat.

My driving licence is in my purse (wallet) so I usually do have ID as I usually take my purse out with me. But it's not something I think about. When I'm walking the dog I only take my keys with me!
