From April Andy Borowitz - "Obama barrage of complete sentences seen as a brutal attack on trump." (Note this is satire but with valid points)
"CHICAGO (The Borowitz Report)—In an appearance at the University of Chicago on Monday, former President Barack Obama unloaded a relentless barrage of complete sentences in what was widely seen as a brutal attack on his successor, Donald Trump.
Appearing at his first public event since leaving office, Obama fired off a punishing fusillade of grammatically correct sentences, the likes of which the American people have not heard from the White House since he departed. “He totally restricted his speech to complete sentences,” Tracy Klugian, a student at the event, said. “It was the most vicious takedown of Trump I’d ever seen.” “About five or six sentences in, I noticed that all of his sentences had both nouns and verbs in them,” Carol Foyler, another student, said. “I couldn’t believe he was going after Trump like that.”
Obama’s blistering deployment of complete sentences clearly got under the skin of their intended target, who, moments after the event, responded with an angry tweet: “Obama bad (or sick) guy. Failing. Sad!” Who knew that one of the job requirements for president would be that the applicant could speak complete intelligible sentences. One would just assume this was a given when one applied for the job of president.

Yesterday on another thread jenis40 gave what I thought was a great narrative on the Democratic Party after some on that thread went on about allll the problems the Democrats have and how they have no message. I thought she did a great job and didn't feel I needed add my 2 cents worth. Then today this tweet popped up from The Daily Beast.. "Do the anti-Pelosi progressives honestly believe Republicans would stop attacking Democratic values if she went away thebea.st/2t7sCOg" And then there was Bernie once again bad mouthing the Democratic Party. So.... 1. The Democrats were never going to win these special election in solid red districts. It would have been nice but it was too soon after the general election and the voters haven't felt the pain coming from the trump/Republican Agenda. 2. The Democrats do have a message. It is a forward message around the environment, social issues, and diversity. It is a message of where this country is going and there is very little that can stop it. It's like a small snowball that starts rolling down a big hill. By the time it gets to the bottom there is little that can be done to stop it. So you either get with the program or you get left behind. 3. jenis40 is correct in that the Democrats are lousy at getting their message out. They were absolutely steamrolled by the Republicans that summer the ACA was rolled out. They need to do better for all our sakes. 4. And they need to start talking about the next "industrial" revolution that is happening. That automation and globalization are not going away, that jobs that exist today could be gone in the next 20 years. The folks in rust belt states may not want to hear or believe that but too bad it's happening so they to need to get with the program or left behind. On CBS Morning show last week the CEO of LinkedIn was on talking about jobs. He said in the month of April there were 6M open jobs. When questioned about the reason why he said it was partly do to not finding the candidates with the necessary skills and the location of the jobs. So the jobs are there. The big take away is the lack of skills. This is what the Democrats should address and find ways to fix it. 5. That tweet is correct. If Nancy Pelosi was to step down tomorrow the Republicans would find another boogieman to replace her. And as far as SF Values go maybe those rust belt states should pay attention to what is going on in CA and other blue states and try and figure out how they can make it happen in their own state instead of whining "they don't understand us" or "they are ignoring us". 6. Those that are beating the war drums against Nancy Pelosi are the Bernie crowd. The absolute for sure thing the Democratic Party needs to do is kick the non Democrat out of the Party. From the day he decided to run for president he has been trying to change the party to his party. Bernie Sanders would be the Democratic equivalent to the Republican's Tea Party. Notice how well that is working out for the Republicans. A party that now eats their own. The sort of good news is the actual Democrats are not buying into Bernie with Bernie people losing the head of the DNC and head of the CA DNC. So there is hope. 7. Unlike some in the Democratic Party I don't have any problem with Hillary and President Obama offering their thoughts on things. Why shouldn't they? I also see we have some good "next generation" Democrats. From CA there is Adam Schiff and Kamala Harris. From NY Sean Maloney. From CT Chris Murphy. And from MA Joe Kennedy III. I think they are all showing the "right stuff". So to the naysayers on this board and other places I think the Democratic Party is in good shape and will be in great shape if they start talking about the challenges that face the job market and offer solutions, dump Bernie, and find a better way to deliver the damn message. A lot to do I know but the Democratic Party is in better shape then the Republican Party. The real question for the Republicans is if the party is going to survive trump, the fallout from an implemenated agenda, and a backward facing message.

Now here is a travel ban I can fully support. As coastal liberal elitist I'm against any form of discrimination especially state sponsored discrimination.
"President Donald Trump isn't the only one pushing for travel restrictions. The state of California has its own travel ban, but instead of blocking people from coming in, it blocks state-funded travel to certain places.
The state just announced it won't pay to send its employees to Alabama, Kentucky, South Dakota or Texas anymore. The measure is part of a law that curbs travel to states with laws that target people due to sexual orientation or gender identity.
That law was passed in September in response to North Carolina's now-defunct House Bill 2. The so-called "bathroom bill" mandated people use the bathroom that matched the gender listed on their birth certificate.
House Bill 2 also blocked local governments from passing ordinances that banned discrimination against LGBTQ individuals.
Three of the new additions — Texas, Alabama and South Dakota — were added because of laws that could prevent LGBTQ parents from adopting or fostering children. Kentucky was added to the list for a new law that lets student organizations discriminate against LGBTQ classmates.
California's Attorney General Xavier Becerra said he added the four to the Golden State's blacklist because of the "discriminatory nature of laws enacted by those states."
They join a growing list. Aside from North Carolina, California also bans state-funded travel to Kansas, Mississippi and Tennessee.

Nate Silver's response to KellyAnne about cuts under Medicaid.
"Kellyanne is lying. It cuts Medicaid by about $800 billion."
An excerpt from an Atlantic interview Tom Price.
"We’re not pulling the rug out from under anybody,” said Tom Price, the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The goal of the House’s and the Senate’s health plans, and the Trump administration’s goal, he said, is “ensuring that there are more individuals who are insured under the new plan than under the old plan”—the old plan being the Affordable Care Act."
Its clear Nate's response would also apply here.
Someone on this board was gleefully going how Hillary was always telling lies, even suggesting as much as trump. To that person here are the lies not only being told by trump but now by his minions. What we have here is an epidemic of lying and it's spreading throughput the GOP.

A lot to do I know but the Democratic Party is in better shape then the Republican Party. The real question for the Republicans is if the party is going to survive trump, the fallout from an implemenated agenda, and a backward facing message. Thanks! I want to add something to what I said yesterday: the Republicans entire message seems to be one based on fear: be afraid of the immigrants because they will take your jobs and take your money; be afraid of the people less fortunate than you because those mooches will take your money; be afraid of the Muslims because they are all terrorists; and most of all, be afraid of the Democrats because they want to take your money and give it to the poor people, the undeserving people, the people who aren't like you. And for the last eight years, they have been very successful in casting the Democrats as the biggest boogeyman of all. And Democrats have been complacent. We've let them take over the city councils and the statehouses. Republicans have gerrymandered a permanent majority in the House so that votes don't matter because we don't turn out to vote in special and mid-term elections. In spite of the perceived liberal bias in the media, no one is hearing the Democratic message on healthcare, jobs and the economy. It took Republicans ham-fisted attempts at crafting this terrible healthcare replacement to make people finally understand and appreciate what the ACA does. I don't want the Democrats to become the party of no and obstruction. But is that what they have to do to get their message heard?

If you feel the only way to "win" is by using fear then you aren't really winning at all.

Apparently Brit Hume doesn't think if a presidential candidate or staff colluded with a foreign government and the candidate wins its not a crime. From Hume's show....
"BRIT HUME (HOST): [Special counsel Robert Mueller has] hired several lawyers who have made contributions to the Democratic Party, and would appear, at least on the surface, to be Democrats and perhaps Democratic partisans.
[…]
HUME: It’s worth noting, I think, that this investigation has never been officially described as anything other than a counterintelligence investigation, which is to say that its purpose was to find out the extent of the Russians’ attempts to interfere in the election and influence the election. It was not therefore a criminal investigation, and has never been described as a criminal investigation. Do we all now believe it has now become a criminal investigation?
BOB WOODWARD: Well, we reported in The Washington Post that it is, and these investigations, as you well know, they mushroom, they grow—
HUME: They can.
WOODWARD: Well, they almost inevitably do.
[...]
JENNIFER GRIFFIN: We’ve heard about the grand jury in Alexandria that has been called. So they are looking into criminal--
HUME: But what crime? Can anybody identify the crime? Collusion, while it would be obviously alarming and highly inappropriate for the Trump campaign, of which there is no evidence by the way, of colluding with the Russians. It's not a crime. So are we talking about here the president's firing of Comey being and obstruction of justice? And they got a grand jury on that? Is that was this is about?"

Monday morning babble....
"The Democrats have become nothing but OBSTRUCTIONISTS, they have no policies or ideas. All they do is delay and complain. They own ObamaCare!"
New Subject...
"The reason that President Obama did NOTHING about Russia after being notified by the CIA of meddling is that he expected Clinton would win.."
"...and did not want to "rock the boat." He didn't "choke," he colluded or obstructed, and it did the Dems and Crooked Hillary no good."
A reply to this treat is the picture of President Obama telling Putin to knock it off. Something the current occupant of the White House would never have the guts to do is tell someone to knock it off face to face.
And...
"The real story is that President Obama did NOTHING after being informed in August about Russian meddling. With 4 months looking at Russia..."
"..under a magnifying glass, they have zero "tapes" of T people colluding. There is no collusion & no obstruction. I should be given apology!"
Back to the original subject...
"Republican Senators are working very hard to get there, with no help from the Democrats. Not easy! Perhaps just let OCare crash & burn!"
I'm thinking the replacement is actually worse then no ACA at all.

I read the maniac's tweets this am and got suddenly tired of this crap. Then I read Paul Waldman's response to one of them and I got a chuckle out of it. "TFW you had to wait all weekend for the next installment of "Fox & Friends and you're just bursting with joy that it's back on the teevee."

If this is true, I don't even have to watch Rachel tonight to get where she will be going with this information.
Having an idea of what the Rusdians can do and if the Feds do nothing how can we trust our elections results going forward?

Tiny hands is all excited about this.....
"Wow, CNN had to retract big story on "Russia," with 3 employees forced to resign. What about all the other phony stories they do? FAKE NEWS!"
"Fake News CNN is looking at big management changes now that they got caught falsely pushing their phony Russian stories. Ratings way down!"
"So they caught Fake News CNN cold, but what about NBC, CBS & ABC? What about the failing @nytimes & @washingtonpost? They are all Fake News!"
It was one story where the reporters didn't double check their sources. They were in a hurry to provide "breaking news". They are now gone.
The real story would have been if CNN hadn't taken any action once they found out what happened.
Good news other media agencies will double down on checking sources.
Oh donnie just because this one story about Russia was fake doesn't mean the past ones were are the future ones will be. No matter how many times you claim they are cause we alll know you live in a world of alternative facts.

Kurt Eichenwald is a Newsweek Reporter who has an illness that flashing lights can cause seizures. He is also very vocal especially about health care. And he is on a roll. And I don't disagree with anything he is saying...
"As someone who could lose my insurance and die, I'm so glad to hear from @speakerryan that I'm not losing it, I'm CHOOSING to go without."
"What is terrifying is that @speakerryan heres ppl begging not to throw them off of insurance & says "Oh, they dont WANT insurance"...."
"...does he reflect GOP thought? Are they truly so divorced from reality that they are changing an insurance system they dont understand?..."
"...or do they just say stuff, without caring as to whether it's true or not, when they are trying to win?" Ding ding ding - winner!!!!
".. Ppl dont CHOOSE to have preexisting conditions and get denied insurance. Ppl dont CHOOSE to have medical bill that hit coverage caps..."
"...people rarely CHOOSE to have jobs that dont provide insurance. (This is a big one that GOP doesnt get. They look at their jobs, see..."
"...that they get insurance and say "Well, to have insurance, just get a job." Totally divorced from reality."
"My wife's MD practice flooded w/ mid class ppl in terrible shape after ACA cause they got insurance. She fears 4 whatll happen to them now."
"I cant get out of my head: Man who died because he hit coverage cap & woman paying 4 croquet lessons at Mar-a-Lago. GOP helping 1 of these."

Ya know what, I wouldn't deny them some help with housing costs. Most of them are maintaining two separate households, which asks a lot of anyone. I don't know how much they get paid, but I know that not every Congress member is wealthy. $2500 seems like a lot to me, but I don't know how much housing costs are in DC. Lots of them share apartments, I know that. The one thing is (to me) ... if Jason Chaffetz suggested it, I don't like it.

I'm against the $2,500 housing stipend on top of their current salary because to pay for it they will have to cut the budget (safety programs) and Medicaid even more at the same time they give massive tax cuts to corporations and the rich.
