I love this thread! Some really inspiring stuff to add to my bucket list. I have something not mentioned yet:
I have conducted a labour-law workshop more than 3km below the surface of the earth. To be fair, there is (was?) a boardroom down there, air-conditioned and wood-panelled.

I've been stuck in traffic in Russia. It was also a very scary part of Russia. It makes LA look tame!

I have walked across the Golden Gate Bridge I have met Donny Osmond Tell us about your Donny Osmond experience. Were his teeth as beautiful in real life as they've always been on television. Did you swoon?

Needmysanity said: I am so envious of this one! I would have gotten on a plane and joined you if DH and my OBGYN hadn't had a fit...actually I was so pregnant the airlines wouldn't have let me fly anyway, but I so wanted to be part of that piece of history. I had a friend who was there and they brought me a piece of the wall, but it's not quite the same thing. Glad you got to do that

It's funny because all of mine have to do with water.
I've snorkelled with a humpback whale. I've dived with a 14-ft great hammerhead. I swam in Jellyfish Lake. I've been on one dive where I was tethered to the reef where I saw at least 70 sharks. I've sat on a beach on a small island in Cuba eating roasted pig, fresh off the spit, and fresh avocados and mangos.

BarbaraUK said: That would be HRH Queen Elizabeth II I was all of about 7 years old and living in New Zealand. As the head of the Girl Guides the Queen was inspecting the 'troops' I happened to be the smallest, so I was at the front of one of the lines. The Queen walked passed the rows and rows of guides and brownies, stopped in front of me and asked why I was wearing a different colored tie than everyone else...I got to curtsy and tell her I was a Lone Brownie, she asked what that meant, I told her, she shook my hand and thanked me for coming so far to see her. Made me a life time fan!

I've also sung "Messiah from scratch" at the Royal Albert Hall, London, but I was only 12. Have also sung in Westminster Abbey and the Royal Festival Hall with my school choir.
Same year my M&D took me on holiday to Norway and we hiked a glacier and visited Edvard Griegs house.
Broke my ankle the day before flying home from Poland back to the UK, but didn't know it was broken til I got home and went to the hospital to get it checked out... ow... (walking thru Immigration/Customs lines at Luton Airport on a broken ankle is not fun!)

I swam with sharks. More like I swam in the general vicinity of sharks and when I saw them, became paralyzed with terror, blubbered a lot and slowly dog paddled in the opposite direction and got back on the boat.
I climbed to the top of the big temple at Chichen Itza and (this is becoming a theme) became so paralyzed with terror at the top that I slid on my bum the whole way back down.
I rode burros and camped in the Andes. No paralyzing terror that I can remember with that one.
Saw the launch of the last space shuttle.

I've wore braces on my teeth at age 15 and again at age 50. I had a wallaby kiss my nose. I didn't kiss the Blarney Stone, I kissed the gentleman who helped instead. This reminded me - I HAVE kissed the Blarney Stone. I didn't realize until it was my turn that you have to lean backwards to do it, and have the gentleman who assists you support you. It was a little scary!

Its interesting to see what people find "remarkable" about themselves. ashley I could be wrong but aren't you the pea who defended your dissertation shortly after the birth of a third or fourth child? Good memory! I defended my MSc thesis when I was over 38w pregnant with our 3rd child.

I saved a girl's life when I was in 2nd grade. (We were sledding near her house...and she broke through ice I didn't even know what there. Every time she tried to climb out, the ice broke more. I slid the sled out to her, held on to the other end and pulled her out.) WOW!!! Now that is something to be proud about!
