No it isn't 'right' but we do protect peoples right to expression even when we do not like it. Even when it is about the government. That is what our rights are all about. That's what the constitution is all about. I think it's pretty low. And crass. And vile. Just because it's your *Right* to do something doesn't make it right or make it the right thing to do. She isn't winning any fans with this IMHO. But it is still her constitutional *right* to perform a crass, vile, satire. (and there is NOTHING funny about it) If your talking suggestion then i'd be worried if i were Alec Baldwin as it looks more like him than Trump. I agree with you but I do think people in general misunderstand the 1st Amendment. People absolutely have the protected right to express themselves without being penalized by the government.
There's no guarantee they won't be penalized by everyone else.
I rather like this explanation: "As an American, you have the right to say most anything you want to say without being penalized by the government. As long as you're not inciting crime, spewing out 'fighting words' (srsly), making true threats, or sharing obscenity as defined by the Miller test/child porn, you're pretty much good to go. Hate speech is protected pretty strongly here in the U.S. — the landmark SCOTUS Whitney v. California decision determined that 'to justify suppression of free speech, there must be reasonable ground to fear that serious evil will result if free speech is practiced' and 'there must be reasonable ground to believe that the danger apprehended is imminent.' — so congrats, you can call some random person a 'Nazi cunt' on Twitter."That is true. I do hope she is fired althought I'll be surprised if she is, and they (the Secret Service) are checking in on her.. i don't know what they will do but there should be more consequences to this than a basic apology.

I was going to say the same thing. Fired from what? She isn't IN anything right now. She does her own thing, own shows, own books. Unless no one goes to her shows anymore. But I doubt it. This will more likely give her more material and publicity.

Not going to click on it, but while she certainly has the right to free speech, this shows a complete lack of class and respect for the office- the very things I find abhorrent about the person who currently holds the office. Wrong at any level.

I didn't see the photo, but no. I didn't like it when folks did it to Obama and as much as I despise Trump, I don't like it now. I do not wish any violence towards him. I hope the intel community can put together enough evidence to push him out of office. I don't even want him to jump out a window, the conspiracy theorist are already going nuts. I want him to die a natural death feeling disgraced.

Not cool. Not cool at all. I go back and forth on Kathy Griffin. She seems like an intelligent and witty lady. But then every once in a while she crosses that line (of mine) and makes me cringe. This is one of those times.

It makes me want to scream, it really does. I feel so intensely RIGHT about what I believe that when stupid people do stupid things in the name of Democrats/the Left, I want to explode. We cannot lower ourselves to that kind of stuff!!! I'm glad she apologized, but she should not have done it in the first place.
I mean WTF? Why do people like Kathy Griffin and Chelsea Handler think they're funny?

She went too far, this is something ISIS would do. I think she only apologized because she's worried about going to jail, this has to be some kind of crime. It's so disturbing! What's also scary is seeing Kathy for the first time without makeup. What is that on her head?
I used to be a big fan of hers, I wonder if she was desperate for attention or just clueless, she often is and not getting what is appropriate and not. I read her latest book which is a collection of short stories of her interactions with celebrities and so many were just awkward to read.
