I go through this every year. The arm I got the shot in hurts. I expected that. Immediately after the shot my nose started running. Hours later I feel so run down, achy and tired. I get this way every year. But it seems I forget about it until after the shot.

Some years I get an immediate headache, like the flu type headache but doctors say that's not possible. (Yeah ,right )

Please be sure to get another one in January - February! They are only optimal for 6 months.
I hope you feel better soon.

Some years I get an immediate headache, like the flu type headache but doctors say that's not possible. (Yeah ,right ) It's possible to get headaches and achiness after the flu shot, even a low grade fever. What's NOT possible, and what they're most likely referring to, is actually getting the flu from the shot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I may not get one this year. Last year, for the first time, I had an allergic reaction and broke out in huge welts. It felt like the welts were also inside from my throat to my stomach. It was not a fun time. The doctor and pharmacist reported it to CDC and I had to fill out some paperwork for them. I am kind of afraid to try again. It is strange because it had never happened before and I usually get one every year.

If you decide to have the flu shot again this year, have it done at your doc's office. They will probably give you a much smaller dose to begin with to see if you have a reaction and then come back, if you don't, for another dose.

My asthma specialist holds me hostage until he can give me the spot. I've never had anything but a sore arm afterwards.

That's a shame. Still, wise of you to get it done. You are organised, getting it done so early! I usually get mine around October.
I once got the real flu, influenza A. An experience I never want to repeat! You think you have had the flu until you get the real thing!

Wow, you get yours early. Sorry you feel bad. I was at Rite Aid yesterday and they are already offering flu shots.

Wow! Flu shot time already. I hope you feel better soon. Just think about how much better it is to feel just a little crummy instead of feeling horrible for a week.

The company I work for brings in a nurse to give a free flu shot to any employee who wants one, and it's scheduled for early September. I love getting one at work: convenience + free = great!

I hope you're feeling better.
I'm getting my shot at the end of September when I have my yearly physical. I'm so glad I've never had any sort of reaction.

I saw the signs go up at the local drug stores and thought it was very early to get the shot. But I've had some horrible aches and pains, headaches, fever, chills for the last 3 days. I wish I had gotten an early shot.

I will be getting mine soon, since I work in a hospital, and am on the front lines in the ER where I sign people in and way too often they breathe heavily/cough/sneeze right in my face!!! UGH.
But I will get mine when I'm going to be off work for a couple of days, because I always have the kind of reaction like you are talking about. No, it's not the flu, but it still isn't fun.

I get one every year. I teach, and I'm pretty sure exposed to all sorts of nasty bugs. I think I'm immune to most of the regular stuff and rarely get sick, but I still get the flu shot. My younger DD had H1N1 when she was a toddler. It was horrific.

Oh, I hope you feel better soon!
I was really surprised that while checking out at my local pharmacy the cashier "reminded me" to get my flu shot and that they could doit there. It seems very early to me. I usually wait until Halloween or so as I believe they're only effective for several (5-6) months.

I do feel better. For the last couple of years I have been getting my flu shot early. I no longer get it at my doctor's office because he runs out of the flu shots quickly. So I just get it at Walgreens.

I've never gotten a flu shot or the flu. Ummm good for you?! I'm one that has to get a flu shot. The flu can and had ended me in the hospital due to my autoimmune issues. Thankfully all my close family and friends all get it to protect me and themselves too.

I've never gotten a flu shot or the flu. That's great for you! plus, statistically, it isn't an overwhelming issue for most. We both have the vaccine because OH has health issues which mean his immune system is compromised. As I work with colleagues and the wider public, I also get it to protect him. if I lived alone, I might be more relaxed about the issue. Having said that, I had the 'proper' flu once and wouldn't wish it on anyone, so maybe not! Generally, I am not a complete germophobe or too worried about things like this, I just have to be more cautious now. Which is a buggar, to be honest!

Sorry you got sick.
I get my shot at work for free every year. The sign up sheet was put up last week but we won't get them until October probably. The residents get theirs a little sooner I think in September. So far I haven't had more than a sore spot on my arm.

I've never gotten a flu shot or the flu. I never had until last fall. My reasoning has always been: I don't have kids, I'm not caring for someone elderly, and I'm not around anyone immunocompromised, so my chances of picking it up or giving it to high-risk populations was slim to none. And then last year's flu strain was the one killing healthy middle aged people. A close friend of the family succumbed just after Christmas. So yeah, I went and got one.
