DH was working in the yard today and noticed a pair of nice jeans with a belt neatly folded up in the side flower bed. (On the side of the garage next to the driveway). (Hard to say if men or women's jeans they are 34/32 size). I'm thinking boys
Many different things ing shave gone through our minds, as well as a couple people we've talked to about this. We've been told to call the cops in case they were stolen, a sex act was committed - who knows. Or just give to the goodwill?

Weird! I'd probably either donate them or just toss them.

I would call the non-emergency number. Otherwise, I would worry it was important for the rest of my life.

I think I would look at them funny and leave them there. BUT I have kids in my yard all the time and I often find clothes in my laundry that don't belong to my boys.
If you don't have kids next door and/or their friends haven't been around, call the non-emergency line (during the day) and start with, "This is probably going to sound strange but..."

A 34/32 is definitely male measurements: I think they're waist and inseam. But I've never seen women's jeans have anything other than a single number size.

I spend too much time reading about true crimes on another forum, so I would call the non-emergency line. It might be evidence in a case.

I'm going to guess a kid changed there before school or going out. probably has a crazy mom that won't let him trot around all the time in basketball shorts or looking like a ragamuffin. I could see my kids trying to be sneaky and changing somewhere. They're not allowed to carry backpacks anymore so they'd have no choice but to ditch them and hope they were still there when they remembered where they were left.

Hijack...why are your kids not allowed to carry backpacks anymore? Don't they carry their stuff to school in a backpack? What happens in the winter when it's wet and snowy? Curious. I don't know if the answer is the same for Steph, but here a lot of schools have a no backpacks rule as a safety precaution.

34/32 could be teens or mens. They would be pretty tall to be 34 inseam. Do you have any teen boy or girl neighbors on that side of the house? I wonder if someone was sneaking out in a hurry and the jeans were stashed there for a reason. I wouldn't call the police, but I would leave them there for 24 hours to see if they were taken. I would also probably be peeking out a window to see if someone did retrieve them! After that I would just call the non emergency police, just in case.
eta I had the measurements backwards, I thought 32 would be waist, 34 inseam.

Definitely leave them there for 24 hours. My son in law once found a pair of shoes hidden behind our wheelie bin. Turns out our grandson was smuggling his new Nikes out of the house and wearing them to school and needed a place to hide his boring shoes until he returned home each day! We said that he should have kept quiet about it and left grandson to explain the missing shoes. Corinne

The fact that they were folded neatly and left there makes me doubt that any sex crime or act took place in your back yard. I don't think I would call the cops. Maybe store them for a while in case the police comes knocking on doors?

I wouldn't call about it.
I wish our schools had a no backpack rule. I weighed dd's backpack yesterday and its 28 lbs. and she only weighs 99lbs. Its insane!

Safety against what? cause it's still rather easy (unless you have metal detectors or dogs ) to slip a weapon (or drugs) under your clothes than for hardworking honest students to carry 5 books, 5 notebooks or binders, gym clothes, gym shoes, writing utensils, lunch and musical instruments without something to keep it all together. Not to mention the kids with after school activities who have a whole second set of things to cart to school, especially on game days? I think it kind of an absurd rule. How weird. Do your kids not have books to carry? Do they not have to change for gym? Do they not have a game uniform and cleats to bring on game days? How the heck does all that work? Seems very weird to me. Cause here its the trouble kids who don't have back packs because they don't give a flying fig to do homework or to participate in anything. Sorry OP As for the jeans I'd either watch who came to take them or I would ask the police non emergency number. It's kind of weird, but not highly alarming.

I'm the odd one here, but I can't help wondering what might have happened if it hadn't been your DH that found them. The thought popped into my head that they were left deliberately by a pervert, waiting for a woman victim, and the jeans were sort of "bait" to draw you over to look at them. I think most women are the gardeners of their flower beds, and most women would pause, pick up the jeans, and look at them long enough for a pervert to grab the gal from behind, and drag her behind some cover. Is there someplace near where the jeans were left that someone could have been hiding? Like behind your garage? Woods next to your yard?
While it might have a totally innocent explanation involving a stupid teen, it also could be something really creepy, and creepy is how it struck me. I can't help thinking it was a good thing your DH found them, and not you.
I would call the non-emergency number and asked to talk to a policeman, just in case there is a pervert behind it.

A lot of good possibilities
We really don't have teens/20's kids around us. Maybe at the other end of neighborhood or the other street but no one in close proximity to us. Kids carry pack packs here.
I wouldn't have called 911 but would have gone to the station to check
DH brought them in the backyard and laid them over a chair - didn't seem to have ID or anything in them

Scrapnnana no there are no woods or any place to hide. Your typical 2 car attached garage house. Houses on both sides. The chance of me finding them would have been slim to none I don't do yard work / gardening. That's hubby's job. Heck he is so good at it I'd hate to mess it up. Plus being outside and sweating not my cup of tea

Maybe store them for a while in case the police comes knocking on doors? Yeah even if there was a sex act taking place, you wouldn't do the deed and then leave without your pants.
I'm really thinking someone just ditched them there, and may come back for them later.

I agree that 34/32 jeans are mens. And a pretty good sized guy too, but not super tall. My DS wears 33/34 jeans and he is 195 and 6'2" tall at 17.
Most womens (not all - but the kind my girls wear - Miss Me Rock Revival) have a waist size but not a number length on the tag.

I didn't make the rule, I'm just saying that is the rule in some places. My oldest is 7 and he's homeschooled so I don't know the answers to your questions. I know the no backpacks rule started when *I* was in junior high. We were not allowed to carry backpacks or purses in school. I don't remember what we did with our books, the thing I remember is being embarrassed and stressed bc when it was that time of the month you couldn't carry a purse for your pads and tampons. I know the high school required clear bags and backpacks for awhile and then went to no backpacks. Kids would keep sports equipment in the trunk of their car until just before practice and then get it during changing time. I'm not saying it's a good rule or a smart rule.

I'd do as mentioned--call the non emergency number of police. Could be nothing, could be something.
If you had a motion camera, it would be worthy to see who gets them.............
FWIW, my husband is 5'11", weighs 160 and wears 32x32 pants.

While I have a sixteen year old boy who would wear them-he definitely would NOT leave them "neatly folded" anywhere. Teen boys are not the folding type especially if they were changing quickly outside?! Probably a work man left them? How odd. I wouldn't think to call the police. I may move them to the trash but it wouldn't freak me out, just really odd.

I would call non emergency or our community officer. We had a serial peeper that escalated to attempted rapist- in our dull, safe, burb neighborhood. The guy was caught eventually, and it was the little bits of evidence (and DNA) collected along the way that helped convict him.
Sorry- for being glum. Probably fell out if a kids pack pack, but just in case.

Ok so my son wears a pair of basketball shorts under his jeans. And his briefs! There were times when I, thinking he was crazy, would tell him to please just wear the jeans and not the ball shorts! Nope, he still does. That way he can strip off the jeans anywhere and be fully dressed in his shorts. He wears ball shorts all year, even when it's 5 below. I can see him as high school kid wearing the whole works on the way to.school, then stripping down when her sure he's out of sight and go on his way. Yes he'd fold them. Leave them where he could find them later and be on his way. That way I'd never know and be happy thinking he was going to school fully dressed in nice jeans. I also know he may very well forget to retrieve them for a few days. That would be my take of this situation!
