"According to Beck and his guest, right-wing Rabbi Daniel Lapin, a menstrual period represents death, and is a “God given sadness.”
According to these guys, ladies are sad because they can’t reproduce like men.
Lapin explains:
"… the good Lord created men with an infinite capacity to produce seed at almost any age whereas he chose to create women with an absolute finite limited number of eggs. And so the loss of an egg every month, for any sensitive woman, is sad because it’s one less opportunity for life. And so foolish and insensitive people say, ‘Oh, it’s just a hormonal imbalance,’ it isn’t; it’s a genuine, authentic sadness which suffuses any sensitive woman at the loss of an egg."
An excited Beck confirmed the rabbi’s revelation, proclaiming:
"Wow, I’ve never thought of it that way. It is actually a God-given sadness."
Yet another one of the millions of ways I'm so grateful I don't believe in this stuff anymore.

There is so much crazy out there that sometimes I am literally speechless. It's the fact that they actually seem to believe the garbage they spout.

I don't know, Glenn, I've always been quite happy that I don't have infinite capacity to reproduce. So much so, that I took little pills daily for a good portion of my life to prevent such an occurrence.
Sad? Yeah, no.

My guess is they need to think that way to feel superior. I am not sad that I can't get pregnant up until I die. I absolutely was not sad when my periods stopped. That was a huge relief. After three children I was done and they could have ended then with gladness. But hey, I'm just a woman and don't know my own mind and feelings.

I love how he uses the descriptor "sensitive" because, clearly, if you don't feel this way, you're a hard hearted bitch. *plops down on the "hard hearted bitch" bench*

Lapin literally means bunny in French. Bunny mainsplaining isn't any cuter, Daniel! Tsk tsk tsk. But, my dear little lapin, I will think of you and all those lost eggs that are never recovered next Easter when those Kinder Surprise-obsessed kiddos get distracted at the sight of the first few and forget to comb through all the nooks and crans of the garden. I'm sure you'll be crying chocolate tears. Le sad! @zingermack I've got a feeling we have some favourite podcast shows in common...

Wonderful, inread it with a cartoon character French accent, thank you! Don't flame me, but I think it's a different sort of poetic take on the subject, worth a moment of contemplation. And then I snapped out of it and called them doofus idiots.

Just how many women did he/they ask about this stupid theory? And how long did they laugh before they answered? Idiots.

Poetic takes keep me sane in a world of Raving Rabbis (and Pastors and Priests and Imams and whatnot) while I wait for poetic justice to take over...

Just because they say it doesn't make it true. That may be a Jewish view of menstruation, but I was raised in a conservative church and never once heard an opinion like that- from men or women. It certainly doesn't say anything like that in the Bible!

I mean, the only sadness I ever had in association with them was the "why do I have to put up with this crap when I don't even want kids?" feeling, but now? Not even that. Not one iota of menstruation-related sadness, and a great deal of happiness without it, in fact.

So are we to assume that men, those eternally life-producing organisms (ahem), are expressing godly and life affirming joy every time they ejaculate? Wow. Good to know.

What does that make me?? ( they would probably say I'm 'misguided' or something like that...)

I was so saddened by the whole thing that I just had them take out the baby making parts early so as to get over my grief more quickly.
AND... he clearly does not realize what a woman goes through to actually create and deliver a baby. Not to mention the fact the women are usually the ones who are the most responsible for the baby. I have known some women who were sad when menopause hit, but they stopped having kids 10-15 years prior and didn't want anymore kids either. OY!

I must have been really wrong in my thinking, for God to give me ovarian cancer, then... it was my punishment for not wanting children, wasn't it? And here, all this time, I thought it was just some random cell-replication gone crazy.

Hmmmm...
I think I'll vote for "God given stupidity" in return.
