let me preface this by saying I have an appointment tomorrow morning. I have a lump on my chest, not on a breast, literally on my chest. Weeks ago, I initially thought it was a pimple, then maybe a blackhead but it never formed into anything. Also thought a wire was protruding from heart surgery. But it's growing (maybe Lima bean size) and annoying. Breast cancer can't happen in the middle of your chest, right? So this is probably a cyst of some sort, right?

Not a doctor, but I play one on the internet. Probably a cyst but kudos for going to get it checked right away. I just had a needle biopsy on a lump on the inside of one breast -- but I had a mastectomy and reconstruction 10 years ago so I was pretty sure it wasn't cancer. It was scar tissue. I'd lost some weight and just noticed it.

Also not a doctor, but have had many lumps on my head. I've had six removed-- three at two different times. They were just sebaceous cysts and I'll tell ya, when the doctor actually removed them, I was surprised at how SMALL they were compared to how large they felt.
Oh, look, google says they grow on the head, neck, and torso. Hopefully, it is just something like that.
A word of "caution" if you want to have it removed-- removal's often considered cosmetic, so it may not be covered. I didn't have mine removed until they became painful.

Well I'm definitely at the annoying, somewhat painful, point. Do they do it in the office or hospital? Stitches? It's literally right next to my current heart scar.

If you've got the stomach for it, check out Dr. Pimple Popper on YouTube. She has many videos of cyst removals that are fascinating to watch.

Is it itchy? I get itchy lumps near scars that are actually keloids.

I had a cyst right between my breasts, It was pea sized for many years, and then one day started growing FAST. I waited too long, and before I knew it, it was quite large. The doctor was able to drain it, but I had to have surgery to have it completely removed (otherwise, it would just grow back). Because it had gotten so large, I had to have general anesthesia, and it left quite a large scar. So get it taken care of ASAP. (Apparently, they are quite common).
The surgery was outpatient, done at a surgery center. A general surgeon did it (the same one who removed my gall bladder). I was home the same day. Fully covered by my insurance. If I had done it when it was smaller, it probably could have been done at the office. They will most likely drain it first (possibly tomorrow), wait a few weeks and do surgery to get the rest so it won't grow back.

I'd bet it's either a cyst or a calcium deposit. I have one of those in my upper abdomen. They are common. I wouldn't be worried about it. But let us know what the dr says, okay?
Hugs!
