Every time I watch Hoarders, I feel compelled to jump up during commercials and clean something. So I'll confess that all these recent threads about how old our cars are and whether we keep them clean or not made me look at my own car more critically today. And I drove straight to the car wash and ran it through!

I drive a white car and live on a slag gravel driveway about 500 yards long. My car is clean for very brief periods! Even hoarder show commercials get me up and cleaning.

My car needs one badly, especially after the drizzly days we had recently. But, I am taking my car in for service on Friday and they give a free car wash, so I am being cheap and waiting.

The car threads got to me too, and I had mine washed yesterday.

I clean my car every month or two when it looks bad but it's a fawn/gold colour which is actually perfect for camouflaging dirt - that's why I bought it!

No.
I've never washed my car in all the time I've owned it. Occasionally my husband will take it to the car wash or he'll take the kids outside with buckets and a water hose (but they end up playing more than cleaning, honestly).
It's not a priority to me and there are so many trees here that it gets dirty again immediately.

I'm compelled to have DH take it to the car wash. spongemom Scrappants I'm compelled to throw things away after watching Hoarders. I watched an episode last night where the young woman said "I'm not a hoarder, I just have a lot of stuff". I lol'd. I am always sad to see the level of mental illness involved.

One of my Christmas presents from DH was 6 gift cards stuffed in the branches of the Christmas 🎄. He had written in each one that it was good for a free 🚗 wash. He knows that taking my car through the car wash gives me the "willies. I've still got 4 left!!!

Yes but only because everytime I have my car washed it rains and we need it right now. I'm not kidding, if I could find a bookie willing to take the bet I'd be a wealthy woman right now. I can guarantee it will rain within 24hrs of having my car cleaned and I haven't been wrong in the 5 yrs I've own this particular car.

I go a long time between washes. DROUGHT is a real concern where I live and so I've gotten used to having a dirty car. I wash the windows and windshields when I gas up, the car is silver so it doesn't look as dirty as it could. We also have tons of pollen in the air. For the first time ever I had my 15 yo Accord detailed this week. It's only got 73K miles on it but was in need of a deep cleaning. The next day there was a pretty good coat of pollen all over. Useless battle over here, and not worth the water to try.

When I see Hoarders I want to throw things away.
My car gets washed by me every week and
i wax it myself too. i did just wax it last week. It is therapeutic for me. Ineed to vacume it out now since I drove aload of metal over to recycle this morning.

Not to scare anyone, but the last time I went to the automatic car wash, I ended up with $2,959 worth of damage and a half clean car. The car wash says the "scratch" was not their fault, but my insurance company is going to go after them. So from now on, I will wash it myself. (Or I need to find a husband, so he can clean it for me.)

Hoarders definitely makes me want to tackle my junk heap. I've been wanting to get my car washed for a couple weeks, but it's been raining so much lately that there's been no point to doing it. I'm taking my car on a road trip next week so there's REALLY no point in washing it now. It'll be so covered with dead bugs by the time I get back that I might as well wait until I'm back home and then pay the $13 to take it to the good car wash and let them get the bugs off of it!

Every time I watch Hoarders, I feel compelled to jump up during commercials and clean something. Yes, seriously. I find myself scrubbing the kitchen sink during commercials or wiping something down real quick, just because i feel compelled to keep order in my home. As for the car, I rarely wash it. I don't like running it through automatic car washes because I fear it will break the power mirrors and then cost me an arm and leg to have fixed. I had it hand washed at a charity drive about two weeks ago. I do wash the windshield and windows every time I gas up, though.

I wouldn't say I feel compelled. I took a trip last weekend and had to be on the interstate, so when I got back, it was covered in bug guts that the regular washer fluid won't take off, so then I felt compelled to get it washed.
It snows here, so often in the winter, when the salt and grime starts getting on my hands, I feel compelled to wash.
Otherwise, I don't really feel the need to wash except when the pollen or dust gets bad enough that (1) I leave handprints when I close the trunk, or (2) the dried up raindrops leave behind an outline in pollen.

We maintain clean cars at our house. Wash, dry and detail tasks are something we do together. Since we often ride to work together we will usually drive the cleanest car.

Not wash it often, but I did just clean out all the stuff that was in it. There is still the yoga mat in it. There are a zillion reusable grocery bags and a pair of shoes I need to get rid of. There is also a ream of paper in it that I need to bring into the house. I might go do that now. I have become kind of obsessive when it comes to throwing stuff out. There was stuff in the car that began to bother me. Even the grocery bags are bugging me yet I need them when I go shopping.

I used to enjoy washing my cars, but don't really have the time any more. Once a week I take it to the local wash. They've always done a decent job of my car and I see lots of nice cars going through. _____________________________ Car detailing source

I just took mine van to be inspected and I did the same thing. They do the inside for free. Not a total detailing but it's better than nothing, especially because it's free. Actually the inspection was free also, and it needed no work, so I walked out of there was $0 on my bill and a vacuumed interior.

It is my anniversary of passing my driving test in 1989 today and when I had my first car Dad said I would wear it away from the constant polishing and T-cutting. Fast forward to present day and I have to admit I can`t remember the last time I cleaned the bodywork myself. I do keep the interior clean and tidy though.

I spend a TON of time in my car. I'm a wildlife photographer and I do a lot of road trips. My car is usually washed inside and out every couple of weeks.

I either run through the car wash or hand wash my car every week. I like the weeks I can do it by hand - I enjoy the process, I get some sun, and feel like a teen again in the front yard with a bucket and sponge, and wet t-shirt. THAT brings the boys - not milkshakes! lol
