When I was little not only did we have milk delivery, but a bakery delivery truck. I still remember the bakery truck which was an old truck/van that had long wooden drawers that pulled out and there were donuts and other baked goods to choose from. I also seem to remember Chicken Delight - a fried chicken delivery, but no one else in my family remembers that!

I lived in the middle of nowhere. I think I was in high school before we had a Domino's that would deliver.

leeny , was that the Helm's Bakery? We had that in So. Cal. They came by and their trucks had wooden drawers. They weren't really a delivery company, more of a mobile bakery, kind of like the ice cream man. You just kind of knew when they were coming and waited outside for them. We also had an Asian food truck that came down the street once a week and sold Asian ingredients and foods out of their truck. I know there was milk delivery too. Our neighbors got it, but we didn't. And of course pizza. But they stopped delivering pizza to our area when things got bad. The street I lived on wasn't bad (very little police activity) but the surrounding area was bad. So, no more pizza delivery. ETA - leeny - I had to google it and I remember Chicken Delight because of their slogan - "Don't cook tonight, call Chicken Delight"! We never ordered from them though.

I remember we had a milk man... not because I remember him, but my dad always joked that his two blondes must have come from the milk man because both of my parents were dark brunette.
The only other "delivery" I can remember was in the summer there was an ice cream man and I spent my allowance on that truck as often as possible.

Could be, I'll ask my Mom in the morning. I just remembered we had Charles Chips when my kids were young. They delivered chips and snacks in these big cans that are like the ones you get popcorn in during the holidays.

Twin Pines milk for me. They put it in the little box thingy that opened on the outside of our house and on the inside of our house. I'm from Michigan.

We had milk delivery. My parents still have the metal box outside their house that people use if they are dropping off something and my parents aren't home. We also had a guy deliver eggs (we called him The Egg Man ). Then there was The Bread Man - his truck seemed to have bread products (and candy if I remember correctly). Does anyone remember a brand of bread on the east coast back in the 1970's (maybe they are still around?). They had red/yellow on their bag and always used Peanuts characters in advertising. Mill... something? I hate when I can't think of a name that I should know. I am thinking there was some kind of chip truck like Charlie's chips? It seemed like the packaging/tins were yellow with brown. But this one might be a figment of my imagination.

I still have one of the big cans up above my kitchen cabinets with the other "antiques". Their chips and hard pretzels were so good!

when we lived on base in Cyprus there were vans that came around the base housing - one had groceries (dry goods and candy - I remember the sherbet lollies), one was a greengrocer's, and of course, the ice cream van...
when we moved back to England, we had a milkman - he delivered milk in the glass bottle - I loved licking the foil (with the cream) and other dairy products and eggs. We had a cold larder in that house (and a loo in a shed in the yard - it was older base housing that was scheduled to be torn down shortly after we moved out)
Once we moved to the States, I don't remember food delivery but I do remember going with my Granny to buy eggs at the egg farm - brown eggs - and hearing on the radio 'brown eggs are local eggs and local eggs are good'. But my dad worked for a while for American Frozen Foods and then Primetime Foods - the first delivered to residences and the latter was aimed at corporations. He was a salesman not a delivery man though.
No delivery here now except the the postman/UPS/Fed-Ex...not even pizza

So we lived out in the middle of nowhere. My aunts lived in town and they would get our egg order.
Then that stopped because too many of the eggs had blood spots or chicks. Ewww boiled chicks in shells.

My childhood was devoid of almost all delivery services. Too rural I guess. It was a 20 mile drive to Kansas to the closest pizza place. When I went to the big city to see my grandparents there was an ice cream truck. Papa made sure to always have a stash of quarters when I was there for an afternoon treat. But that was the only thing I experienced personally until I was grown and learned about pizza delivery.

Southern California: the Helm's Bakery truck! Loved those wooden drawers full of yummy breads and donuts! The ice cream man- that song the truck played is engraved in my brain forever. We had a milkman, there's a story about me almost killing my brother (accidentally of course) because of a milkman, but that's for another time! I remember Chicken Delight- and the jingle. My best friend's dad was a caterer and he unofficially "borrowed" their jingle: Don't cook today, call Instant Buffet! (And ask for Ray)!

I remember Dolly Madison having Peanut characters on them but I was always a Hostess HoHo fan. lol.
We had milk delivery when I was young too. And yes, Charles Chips in the Tins were (and still are when you can find them) amazing!
ETA: We live out in the country so we don't have anyone that will delivery pizza to us and it is always cold by the time I get it home.

We had a milk man- I don't remember the brand, but my grandmother had Twin Pines. She had the box built right into the house. Ours was a metal box on the porch.

My Aunt/Uncle who lived downstairs had a milkman come. My cousin drank milk like it was water.
There was also Max, he sold fruits/veggies and other staples. We rarely ever bought anything from him. It must have been quite a bit more expensive than the grocery store. They had lots more cash than we did so we only shopped the "normal" way.

I grew up in the 70s-80s in Brooklyn, so we could have almost anything delivered, including groceries (and of course, the newspaper- I had a crush on the paper boy and liked when he came to "collect"). The groceries, paper, and all food deliveries-pizza, burgers, etc. were delivered on bikes.
We also had trucks that made regular rounds- the fruit truck, 3 ice cream men, the knife sharpener truck, and the rides- half moon and others.
We had lots of door to door salesmen too- vacuum cleaners, encyclopedias, insurance, light bulbs and smiley face sponges.
Most regular shopping was done at individual stores- the bakery, the fruit and vegetable market, the butcher, the fish market, the Italian deli, etc. Even clothes were shopped for on specific stores- the socks and underwear at a little store, school uniforms at Ideal iniforms, the 5&10 for school supplies, and all the little stores on the Avenue or highway for 90% of our needs. The malls and department stores were only shopped at for Christmas shopping really.
That all changed drastically when we moved to the suburbs in the mid 80s.

I loved to see the Charles Chips truck in the neighborhood!!! We also had home milk delivery (Pine State milk in North Carolina)!
Also, our dry cleaners picked up the laundry and delivered it back to us!
The newspaper delivery man visited once a month and collected the fees - and stayed for a chat and a cup of coffee!

We had an "Egg Man" - not really a delivery service, just a guy with a van (and obviously some chickens at home) who would stop by occasionally and ask if we needed any.
I remember buying Charles Chips at the Towne Club pop store, didn't know it was a delivery thing.
