My 7 yr old son Joey is going in early tomorrow morning to get his tonsils and adenoids out and a little sinus surgery. He has really large tonsils, sleep apnea and bad allergies. He has always been a poor sleeper and wakes up exhausted and angry and has some behavior issues.
If you could say a prayer or send us some positive thoughts, I would really appreciate it. Thanks!
*UPDATE*
Thank you so much for all the well wishes, positive thoughts and prayers. Today went very well so far. We had to be at the hospital at 6:30 am and he got wheeled down to surgery at 8:40. The do not give them anything until he was in the operating room and then they do the iv (in the foot) and everything else. He did great during and after the surgery. He was pretty calm when I went into the surgical recovery area and was in pain but handling it well. He couldn't wait to have lots of ice water and soon asking to go home. Shortly after, we got moved to the other recovery area where they have them sit up, have a Popsicle and he was doing good, just a bit dizzy.
Once he was home I thought it would want to take a nap but he had a burst of energy and wanted to eat. I though ice cream or pops but he wanted egg noodles. He had quite an appetite. He played a bit with a new lego set we got him that he wanted after his surgery and then he fell asleep on me for a good 2 hours. I napped too.
Now Joey is resting comfortably on the couch playing video games and watching tv. He is doing awesome keeping up with the liquids and is hydrating well. He seems to be in good spirits considering. I am very happy and relieved that things went well at the hospital.

Hope the surgery goes well, and that it maybe solves some of his sleep problems! (I bet he'll feel loads better!)

Prayers being said for Joey and for you! It's stressful as a parent to watch your child go through surgery. My DD had similar surgery when she was 7 also (14 years ago!) and she recovered pretty quickly. Hoping for a fast recovery for your son as well.

I hope his surgery goes better than even anticipated and that it results in lessening of his sleep apnea too so that he can get a fully rested sleep each night. No wonder the poor little guy is cranky. I would be too.

Praying for a quick recovery for the little guy! Sending up one for you, too. This is one of the hardest parts of being a mom, watching our little ones in pain. (((Hugs)))

Sending prayers for Joey. He'll do much better getting his tonsils out now than when he is older. My DS 21 really needs his out but didn't have any problems when he was younger.

Good luck to Joey! I'd bet money that he is going to feel so much better all around. My son (finally) had his tonsils out in college, after I fought for years to get it done. It was to the point he was falling asleep in class because those bad boys were keeping him from sleeping well at night.
Big momma hugs to you, because it's always hard when your kiddo is having surgery.

Try not to worry. My grandson had all that done when he was 4 (he's 8 now) and his relief was immediate. He refused to take any pain medication or antibiotics afterwards (doctor said it was okay) and seemed to feel good enough. Also, be prepared ... his voice ended up higher pitched than before the surgery when I guess it had been kind of husky from all the irritation and congestion. On the down side, we still have lots of allergy issues and the doctor says he'll probably need surgery for his deviated septum when he's older. But I'm glad we got the tonsils and adenoids taken care. It made such a big difference. Oh, and he started eating better and gained height and weight quickly after the surgery. He was in the 5th percentile H&W when I got him, and a year after surgery, he was in the 40th percentile. Good luck to your little guy and warm warm wishes for a healthier future.

I'll be praying for Joey, for you and for your family that surgery goes really well tomorrow and for a super quick healing process. I know how difficult it is for us Moms when our little ones are sick. Mine is 28 and I remember when he was little. Try not to worry (easier said than done) and get a good night's sleep if you can. Take care and keep us updated.

Mine had his out in fifth grade. The first day or two he was pretty sore. After that, he was much better. I'd like to think it was harder on me than him.

Sending good thoughts to your son! My son had his tonsils and adenoids out when he was 4. His tonsils were enormous, and he had sleep apnea due to that (luckily no allergies though). Apart from the first night in hospital after surgery (he was very unsettled all night) his recovery went well, there were no problems at all. (Except for when I just about fainted in recovery room after his surgery! )
