I've read the threads over the years, and in fact just went back and searched and read an old thread which helped a bit, but I'd love to know specifically how much you'd tip in this instance. And yes I'll provide drinks and muffins Moving from one condo to another. Access at condo 1 is a pain. Passenger size elevator, parking a bit away in an on-street load zone. Condo 2 no elevator. 2 story unit. They are 4 blocks away from each other. ETA: at condo 2 there are no stairs to it, but it is two story loft/townhouse style. 3 guys, about 5-6 hours due to slow access at condo 1, and swapping kitchen ranges between the two condos. They're also moving my washer/dryer. Everything else is standard 1bed + den stuff. At big city prices, what would you tip each of the movers? Thanks!

Since my normal tip for movers is 20 bucks a piece, if you're thinking big city prices and that it's a super extra pain, and if you can afford it, I might tip them $50 each.
Having said that, my last movers damaged some furniture so you might want to plan for something like $50, but have small bills in case you need to adjust downward for any problems. (I still tipped my movers because I think it was only partially their fault-- they were a little careless because it was starting to snow and they were tired, but I think mostly it was just crappy particle board that shouldn't have been relocated in the first place.)

I've moved twice in the last 3 years. Both times from a non-ground story apt to either a 2nd or 3rd story apt. I had 2 guys and both times they worked their ass off. I offered drinks and lunch each time, declined both times. I tipped each of them $20 both times.

My last move was two years ago with a crew of 4. The three underlings got $20 each and the foreman, who worked his ass off and fixed a broken chair (that I had broken before they arrived) got $50. It was raining but no other big problems.

With that many obstacles, I would tip $50/each. They've got to get major appliances up to the second floor via stairs at the new condo!

In the past three years we moved from our old house to a rental, and then a rental to our new house. The rental was a second story apartment with elevator. Our old house had stuff in the basement. Used the same place both times - they charged by the hour. And I tipped them $40 each the second time because those men busted their bu**s off working fast. They could have gone slower. I've had paid company moves before and I've seen those guys go sooo slow. So I was really appreciative of these hard working kids.

At condo 2 there are no stairs to my place, but it's a 2 story townhouse/loft style unit. The w/d and range are both on the main floor.
