(But turn off Fox News, and they'll arrive screaming in outrage.) I know people who cheer when Trump "hits back." MIL'S brother actually said this in a conversation about Trump's tweets: "he's not a fake pussy like Obama was. He has the right to hit back at anyone who attacks him." Many of Trump's supporters feel similarly. Diplomacy, intelligence and civility are signs of weakness and elitism. When I said I think my President should be worried about doing his job instead of tweeting about hurt feelings, he parroted what Trump has said about being subject to the greatest witch hunt in American history. Trump's most ardent supporters care more about sticking it to "libtards," "PC culture," and "the elitist left" than they care about our country. It's astounding and so sad. It's a jump rope for him. ^^^ and the Republican Congress members are playing Double Dutch jump rope right along with him, jumping in and out when it suits them to. Honestly, I don't bother thinking 'this has to be the thing that will FINALLY do it' any more, because if anyone in Congress really wanted him gone, he'd have been gone LONG ago.  We all knew what we were getting with Trump. He made no secret of his rude, infantile behavior far before he took office. What's really surprised me the most is how the Republicans in Congress are just going along with it. They are so focused on trying to get their health bill and tax cuts for the rich passed, that they have truly sold their souls to the devil. It is disheartening. |

Having the new healthcare bill meetings in super secret silence and then releasing it without enough time for its impact to be thoroughly researched before the summer recess was an incredibly bonehead move because it is clear proof that they really don't care at all for their constituents who don't have enough money to cover whatever healthcare they may need completely out-of-pocket. They simply expected every member of their party to vote for it no matter what segments of the population would be screwed over. Trump's disgusting tweets this morning are all that is being discussed on CNN, not what a failure of a strategy Mitch and the boys employed, and I think they have grown to like the protection/cover the distractions gives them. |

That didn't take long, did it? I have to say that usually I give people a few chances before deciding that they are block-worthy so this was a record. I know some people who voted for Trump. I gave them the benefit of the doubt because up until recently, they've seemed to be decent people. One of them is someone whom I've known for years and she was always a kind, caring person. A few days ago she made a long FB post calling out the Democrats as people who hate the US, hate straight white males with jobs, hate the internal combustion engine, hate the military, hate Christianity, etc. Basically they are the embodiment of anti-American evil. I told her that while I'm not a member of the democratic party, I have many friends who are - and NONE of them sound like the horrible people she was describing, and it was a very hurtful thing for her to say. She deleted my post without responding. That tells me all I need to know - she has firmly decided that she can't possibly be friends with anyone who isn't a Trump supporter and doesn't care to even try. Oh well, I guess when someone shows you who they are, believe them. She was able to hide it for years, but it's now out in the open. Save |

My poor (liberal) husband - He served in the military, drives an ICE, knows how to shoot guns, is Christian, is a straight white male with a job - and he's married to a woman who has a small business. I think that as T's term drags on, hopefully with as little damage to the country as possible, that he and Congressional Republicans will turn on each other. We're seeing a bit of it today with his tweet about Mika. He's an incompetent buffoon, and they aren't doing such a good job either. They'll try to blame Dems, but that won't stick.
