This challenge is for those who scrap slowly and need encouragement to keep scrapping all month or those who want a little encouragement to continue scrapping. It is great for those new to Challenges and is a fun place to come chat with other Pokey scrappers. 1. Post a layout each week, or four layouts per month. These can be posted in the thread or in the gallery. If you post in the gallery, be sure to come to the thread and tell us you posted and tell us the name of the layout so we can find it. You can copy the URL from the gallery and paste it directly into your thread for a link. 2. This challenge can be combined with any other challenges and can be paper, digital or hybrid scrapping. These can be cards, layouts or altered items or any other creative projects. 3. Please comment on the work of others on the thread as your time allows. We all love comments on our layouts. 4. Have fun with this! This should be a "no pressure" challenge. Just post what you finish whether it is one layout or more than four. Come chat with the group as time permits. We love to welcome new members . There are no prizes for this challenge, just a chance to enjoy the works of other Pokey Peas Refugees. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Hi Everyone! Thanks to Nylene for the new thread! You must have been tired from all that scrapping you did -I mean 6 layouts! And you think you could not keep up in Calvinball!!!! just yanking your chain Nylene. Can't wait to see your layout! I have been in my scrap room all day and was in there last night trying to figure out why my letters are not cutting cleanly. I have adjusted settings and lots of things. Even put in a brand new blade. Only one thing left to try is the carrier mat.
I hope everyone is having a safe beginning to their holiday. Some folks are working Monday and some are not. We don't have any special plans for the big holiday! I do need to go out and put my small flags out. We always have a flag on the flag pole in the backyard by the patio. We have a spotlight on it that keeps it light all night.
UPDATE: I finally got it figured out. I ended up moving the speed down to 2 and the thickness to 22 and the blade to 3 Happy Days!!!!

Happy July! We spent the whole day in town at the Canada Day celebrations. Pancake breakfast, parade, splash park, musical entertainment, tour of the school, lots of different junk food. It is still going on, but we came home. The little man missed his nap and is pretty tired. We had scrambled eggs here instead of staying in town for the beef on a bun. This was probably the hottest day all summer, so we have all had enough sun, I think. Thanks for setting this up, nylene. Can't wait to see your pages. Glad you got your electronics to behave, scrapincin. Hope everyone is enjoying your weekend.

Happy July! The 7th month of the year which means the year is officially 1/2 over. I just really can't believe it! maribeth, hope you had a great birthday. I'm glad you get a crafting weekend. grammadee, I hope you had a good "down" day. Like Nylene said, your down days seem way more productive than mine. I bet it was nice to come home to a freshly painted house. I understand about trying to find time to craft. This month was so busy. I felt like when I did get into my room I just wanted to sit in front of the computer, usually because I was also eating a meal and taking a break from whatever project was taking place. That's why I started editing my 2017 photos - at least I felt like something productive was happening. Also I'm glad you shared the Brothers layout again last month. I couldn't fave it the other day on my phone. It is a fabulous page - everything about it. It sounds like Canada Day was a super fun! nylene, you are quite productive from cleaning and creating to a massive creative session. I didn't know about the Refuge board until I received an email from someone, but for the life of me, I can't remember who sent me the email. It's been driving me crazy trying to remember. justjac, Happy Summer Vacation!! A couple of fun trips planned and without anything else planned, maybe you'll be able to just relax doing only what you want to do. We school year round, with dd's health it's easier to take a slow steady pace. We have vacation last week (for her bday) and this week (for 4th of July). We take warm weather days in the winter/spring instead of snow days. Will you camp at the national park? tent, cabin, camper? You make the best outdoorsy layouts, so I will be looking forward to this trip being scrapped. scrapincin, I hope the change in meds help. Also glad that your neighbor is home for the poor doggie’s sake. I'm not a fan of the cameo 3. I have a lot more problems with it cutting. I usually forget to change the auto blade to the ratchet, since I had a stockpile of the ratchet style. kellyr21, how's your July going? Do you have big plans? I cleaned off my desk and worked yesterday on my vintage spring swap banner pieces. I made little clay mold birds and dyed some canvas and then stenciled it with a leaf pattern. I hope to finish the 8 pieces for it today. I've been feeling quite lazy for household chores and just want to play in my craft room. Probably because I didn't get a chance to do much in June. I told Don he was taking care of meals and such (being me) for 2 whole weekends this month so I can concentrate on Christmas in July things. Our little Ed (ible) is a bantam rooster. He just started crowing (cock-a-doodle-dooing) when we let him out of the coop in the morning. It's so cute! Don goes in the coop and all of the chickens rush over to him as he typically feeds them all the little bugs we find in the garden. Although even the chickens have had enough June bugs. Off to get ready for church. I forgot that yesterday was Saturday and thought it was Friday all day.

Hello everyone, and happy July Well alas I did not get to do as much scrafting as I had intended. It started out good, I put a few finishing details on my caravan that I posted a while back, I made a 3D project a bag, I will photo later, started a NHRP layout for the Trinity Site here in New Mexico, and started on two kitty layouts on Saturday. Come 6AM Sunday morning I was continuing on with the kitty layouts, and while cutting the silver cord I cut my finger and had to go to town and get 3 stitches. Now it really isn't that big a thing, it's just that it is about an hour to town, an hour home and then the time in the Urgent Care (which I can not complain, I was the only one there), but the travel time is so exhausting when I got home I could not muster up any mojo to get going again.
Off to work, see you later ladies.

Left some love in the Gallery for your pages, maribeth. I agree with @elaynef that you now have the top story in the scrapbook injury competition. How is your finger today? Too bad you have to work today: don't a lot of people in the US get today as a vacation when the 4th is on a Tuesday? Dd & family left mid morning to continue getting their home ready for the movers. We had a busy weekend, what with Canada Day on Saturday, and then an afternoon/evening at the lake yesterday. Dh and I are both pretty tired. The difference is that I am able to admit that I need a nap. He is just grumpy. This evening we are invited to his nephew's place for a bbq/ bd supper. Glad I have his card ready. Just have to wrap his gift. Hope you all have a Marvelous Monday!

@elaynef - LOL, - Hello, glad to see you hanging out grammadee - Finger is doing well. Wrapping it with that self stick gauze tape to keep it a bit immobile as the cut was right on the knuckle and doc says to try not to bend it too much. Yes many folks do get to have the day off, but alas not us. 1st business day of new month is always busy accounting wise, but I don't think the plant and the quarry will have much business today. But on the bright side I have two Monday's and two Fridays this week. Talk to you ladies later......

Hello Pokeys! maribeth, I am so sorry about your finger. Now that is real dedication to Scrafting!! Hope it heals quickly. I'm sorry you don't have today off. Most places around here have given employees today and tomorrow off. Love your kitty layouts and left love in the gallery. I just have a minute but wanted to stop by to let you know things are fine here. All my pages need some little fix, or addition and then I will scan and post them. I started another, but am not happy with the background. Maybe I'll pull out my watercolors. grammadee and justjac, belated wishes for a Happy Canada Day. Maybe you can stretch it out all week. LOL To the rest of you U.S.A. Pokeys, I hope you have a great day tomorrow for the 4th. We have an Addiction Recovery meeting to conduct tomorrow night. They say Addictions don't take holidays, so we will hold our meetings. In fact, holidays are often "triggers" for resuming the addictions. BBL

Happy Monday all! I have missed so much here I must go back to June's thread to get caught up. I had a busy day yesterday and feeling plum tired today. So lots of resting and self care today. Plus, Ron is off the rest of the day and tomorrow so we should have fun for the holiday. A Ross store update: Remember I told you all I sent an email to the store manager praising them for such great service and a well kept shop. She responded and thanked me as well as surprised me with a 20% discount. Well, when I went to the store to use it one of the cashiers asked it I was the lady who sent the email. I said yes and she said the manager posted it so the staff could see and thanked me again. What a nice surprise! Then she was being funny by asking me to tell the manager how she and her colleagues were doing a great job too. LOL! maribeth- HAPPY HAPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope you had a great time and hope that finger continues to heal. What a fun way to get an injury! LOL! Scrapping!!! LisaDV- Your rooster sounds like "Mr. Personality!" LOL! No big plans over here so far. My dh and I might just be couch potatos today and tomorrow. I still and having the shopping bug but other than that just chilling. I have to check out the "Christmas in July". Sounds like fun. Waving hi to you all and have a great afternoon/evening!!

Happy 4th ladies - do any of you have any festive plans for the day? I hope to get some scrafting in. Folks in our little town go all out with fireworks and they buy those large kind that go up in the sky. All we have to do is take our chairs out and we can see them going off all around us, so needless to say we don't bother with lighting our own. I will be enjoying the matches at Wimbledon today as well. kellyr21 - you are right! If one is going to get an injury what a better way to sustain one. Have a wonderful day ladies, I may be back later to post projects if I get that far,

Happy Fourth of July, everyone! kellyr21, I hope you and your hubby get the down time you need. Happy scrafting, maribeth! Our town always has a great fireworks show on Canada Day, but we were just wiped after a day in the sun, so after bringing the little guy home to bed, no one had the energy to drive back into town to watch. I guess we could have driven just up over the brim of our hill (about a mile from here), but none of us wanted to move even that far. Doesn't get dark enough for fireworks this time of year around here until after 10PM. What are the rest of you doing today? I have a date with the weeds in my garden. It rained yesterday morning, so the soil should be perfect for releasing those stubborn little roots. Today and Thursday are my only two unplanned days this week, and by Thursday those weeds may be cemented into the soil. OK. Must gulp down my coffee and get my butt out there...

maribeth, you poor dear! I'm so sorry you had to get stitches. On the bright side, you'll have the winning "don't do this while scrapbooking" story every time from now on!! I hope your finger is healing well and quickly and that you get lots of crafting in today. nylene, that is smart to hold addiction meetings on the holidays. Glad everything is good there. kellyr21, I love just couch potato days. Hope you and Ron enjoy your holiday. grammadee, after you're done with your weeds, you can come get mine. lol. Don took the rototiller to the outer paths the other day. I work small sections, but it's never ending. I put out some straw after the last weeding. I bought 2 more bales and hope to get another weeding in and at least 1 bale out sometime this week. Happy 4th to all of the American Pokey's. Wishing everyone a wonderful day. Since dd doesn't travel well, we'll be doing our own fireworks tonight. DS and I went to one of he fireworks tent on Sunday and brought home some for him to do a display for us. We did this last year as well. I found hot dogs she could have and bought some cheaper ones for the rest of us, so we'll probably do a camp fire this evening. We painted the picnic table yesterday. It's been on my project list for at least 2 years, but I finally picked up the "right" kind of paint last Sunday. Good news. The mayo has accepted dd as a patient and we'll be going in August. Praying for answers and relief.

Good morning ladies
I hope you all had a wonderful 4th. No scrafting for me, did a few things around the house, and organized in the craft room a bit. Had a great lazy day for the most part. I needed that I think.
Have a great day.

Just a quick check in, Pokeys! Dh and I are off to the city for the day to help dd with a step toward their moving next week. Dh will be driving their Uhaul full of stuff from one location to another where the moving company will be packing everything into the big truck on Friday. I hope to have a bit of time to nip into WM to print my Canada Day photos, and maybe hit M's to grab a couple of sheets of flamingo pp before picking dh up again. How are you doing after the 4th celebrations? How did your dog do with your ds's home fireworks display, LisaDV? I am sorry I will have no time for YOUR weeds this summer. Even though we plant the rows far enough apart so dh can go between with the cultivator, it is still quite a job to hand weed and hoe to give the garden plants enough room to grow. Lazy days are wonderful, maribeth. Time to recharge the batteries. And after today, Friday is very near. TFS your shopping experience, kellyr21. Great that you provided them the positive feedback, and that they showed appreciation for it, but sad that there are so few positive comments made in general that this was such a highlight for them... That's it for now. Off on our road trip...

kellyr21 , it's amazing what a bit of kindness and consideration will do. You know you made someone's day at that store. You are so sweet. grammadee , be careful on your drive. I hope you get your photos printed so you can start on them. We went to bed and didn't even go look at fireworks last night. I'm afraid we are getting old. maribeth , sorry you didn't get to scraft. I hope you have a getaway in your RV planned soon. How's the finger? LisaDV , Hooray, Hooray on DD being accepted at the Mayo. That is wonderful. They check every tiny little thing and you don't feel like they overlook anything. The doctors in different fields consult together. I am excited for you. scrapincin , have you been able to get any scrapping done? I'm glad you got the Silhouette problem figured out. I'd be lost without mine. I usually put my speed way down because I cut smaller items for 8.5x11 layouts. @waving to @elaynef and justjac and all other Pokeys. I hope we all have a productive month. Here's one of my layouts. It scanned poorly because of the thick flowers. This is the first time I have stamped and inked my background. It made me really nervous, but I liked the result. Love that pic and the yellow Nylene!
I'm a lot happier after going through all my embellishments and throwing away a big trash can of them. It took all day, but I think it will save me many hours.
I edited and ordered a big batch of pics yesterday and have completed 2 pages today.

Happy Wednesday! Sounds like you all had a nice holiday. We did too. We went shopping earlier in the day and the crowds were low which was good. Then we picked up a few groceries and cooked our holiday meal. The rest of the day was lots of rest and a firework show. I took my new canon camera to see if I could get a few good pictures. I still have a lot to learn with this camera. When I was trying to get those quick pics my camera had to auto focus, focus, focus ... then snap! By the time it took the pic, the firework image passed. LOL! Need to practice more for next year. Oh, thanks you all for the praise about my newer art show video. LisaDV and I think nylene asked about the video. I used "movie maker" on my computer. It is so fun to use. You just add your pics, music and select the digital features and that is it. Love making these videos. grammadee - Glad to hear your garden is growing except for the weeds. That does sound like a headache to have to "weed" the weeds. nylene - That layout is just darling!!!! I have to go see it and leave some praise. The background looks amazing. How fun to try something new.

Just a quick note to let you know we are home safe. Drove 640 km today (about 500 miles) in a circle from here to one town, around to another town, then home.
I DID get to print my photos. AND I made a quick trip to M's to pick up a grad gift for my dn's dd. Of course I got myself a little sumpin too... Will let you know the details tomorrow.

So glad that you had a lazy day, maribeth. Those are so needed, more often than we get them. grammadee, you and your husband are such awesome parents!! I know your dd appreciated the help. Of course, now I'm excited to know what you picked up for yourself too. The dogs did ok. The older one had her tail between her legs so you knew she was scared, but she just laid right beside my feet so I could pet her, and then dd brought out a blanket and the dog moved to lay on the bottom of her blanket. The beagle jumped up in dd's lap and stayed there most of the time. nylene, thanks. Don and I are excited to hopefully get a definitive answer and treatment plan. DD is a bit nervous with all of the testing. Her and I are flying out as well which adds to her nervousness. It'll be her first time. Your page is beautiful. I love your splatters and inked background and the colors are perfect. @elaynef, you are being quite productive. Kudos for editing and ordering photos as editing photos for printing is my least favorite activity. kellyr21, I'll have to check out moviemaker. Thanks. I had my first big batch of squash from the garden yesterday. I picked 7 regular zucchini and 2 yellow crooknecks. It's so nice to have it fresh from the garden. scrapincin or nylene, have you ever used the deep cut blade for the cameo 3? I have to cut chipboard for my summer banner and realized 2 days ago that the regular blade wouldn't cut it. I ordered a set of blades that included a deep cut in hopes that it would. I should have it Friday - gotta love Amazon prime. Off to work some more on my banner. I'd like to have everything ready to put on once I cut the banner base, and I still have a beach umbrella to piece together.

Good Thursday morning! The sun is shining; the birds are singing; and I am mainlining coffee, hoping to feel like staying upright instead of crawling back into bed. Need to get out in the garden to pull some more pesky weeds before it gets too hot. LisaDV, that is good news about your dd being accepted for an appointment. I hope they come up with a treatment/management plan that works for her. And it sounds like your garden is really producing. A few more weeks for ours. We got a really late start this spring b/c of all the moisture in the soil and the extra rains. Picked a few radishes the other day, but that is all. nylene, that page is gorgeous! I love all the soft colours and those flowers. They look so realistic. With all those pretty details, no wonder your pages take so much longer than mine. I printed my most recent photos yesterday, and of course have tons of other pic's I have yet to scrap, but even though I will have time today I could scrap, I don't think I will have the energy, so they will have to wait until next week to find a page to live on. Sometime today I need to make a card for dd. Her bd is next week after they are gone, but I promised her a gluten free cake on the weekend. I loved your video, too, kellyr21, and you make it sound so simple, but I know I would find a way to mess it up somehow if I tried to make one ! Have you tried the sports function on your new camera? It has a pretty fast shutter speed, doesn't try to put the flash on. You can focus on a spot on the sky, then when the lightshow starts, you can just press the button and it will take a burst of photos almost immediately. I use it a lot with trying to keep up to busy dgk's. I am sure there are ways to switch the camera to manual mode and pre set it for a light show, but I don't know how that feature works at all! WTG @elaynef, getting the organizing and photo editing out of the way so you can enjoy your crafting! I don't spend a lot of time editing photos--just do a bit of cropping when I stand at the kiosk at WM, and I do them almost as soon as the photos are taken, so it is never a huge job. But organizing and editing supplies? Not a job I like at all!!! Would rather stand in a pile of stuff and search for everything I need than start trying to decide what to keep and what to toss... Waving hi to everyone else, including scrapincin, msliz, and justjac. Must. Get. Moving...

maribeth , I have loved being a little braver with messy things in my scraproom. It also makes me clean up my tables better so I don't splash or ruin something. LisaDV , I have never used the deep cut blade. I didn't use it on my Cricut either. I don't usually cut thick things. Hope you get it figured out. I'm glad your dogs survived the 4th noise. grammadee , I think you need some down time. You always seem to be on the go. It's too bad those weeds continue to grow even when we are busy! Weeds and dust....a forever chore! @elaynef , I decided to thin out some of my embellishments but I just can't seem to do it. They are not organized but in a big box. I have to dig through them often enough that I know what's in there. Congrats to you. Sounds like you have LOTS of photos to scrap. kellyr21 , I just have a point and shoot camera, but the instructions told me how to do fireworks. Mine won't take a bunch of shots like grammadee 's but I can set it and usually get pretty good fireworks. scrapincin , where are you? I hope you are having a good time. We miss you. I watercolored for the first time since I was a 3rd grade teacher. It was so much fun and I liked it enough to do the 2nd page too. I think I like this messy stuff. I did order the Tim Holtz Script dies to use on my cards! I can't wait to try them out! I have so enjoyed all of your creations and photos.

Happy Thursday! With the holiday falling this week, it doesn't feel like Thursday. It is HOT today and I am trying to stay cool. Got some of my kitchen chores done now for the bedroom. I have so many book and stuff on my side of the bed and it is too cluttered. So I gotta organize it all better.
Ok, here is a picture of my new dresses from Ross ya'll wanted to see. The peach one had large orchids on it. So pretty! That is the one I wore to my in-laws church that Sunday.

Now, this is a picture of the weirdest plant. See those green blooms, they are like little Chinese lanterns. Have you seen a plant like this before or know what it is? So interesting looking. Of course my sci-fi loving husband imagined some aliens coming out of it. LOL!!!

LisaDV- Oh so happy that your dd got accepted to the Mayo! I hope things improve for you all and your find the answers to your questions. Hang in there!
nylene- Your layouts are just marvelous! I love how you are painting now. I know there is a artist in you. I just know it!!!
grammadee- I know it feels great to be back home. You have had a busy and fun Summer.
scrapincin- How is your baseball team this season? I haven't listening to many Dodger games but they said our team is tops right now. I've been so focused on the NBA and all the drama. LOL!

You are rocking this messy stuff. kellyr21 , those are pretty dresses. scrapincin , glad to see you and know that everything is ok. grammadee , Don recently invested in a kickstarter, his very first time. It was from the maker of the roomba vacuum cleaner. They're adapting the technology to make a garden weeder, called the Tertill I think. It's solar powered and they have little cages you put around your plants until they're big enough to be not considered a weed. The down side is that 1 is suppose to do about 100 square feet and our garden is way over that. Yesterday, dd was not having a bad day and needed me to sit beside her. We watched 3 movies, I did get to piece together my beach umbrellas for my summer banner swap and get all of the pieces ready to go for when I cut the background banner. I also did 2 digital pages for challenges over at the digital press. They're having a summer camp this month which makes me want to do a summer camp here next year. I also looked through my Christmas supplies as dd & I are going to work on gift tags and cards this weekend. Last night, I was up from about 12 until about 2 between my ds waking me to close windows for the impending storm, turning on lights, and eventually bringing the scared dog into my bed and thus waking dd who then couldn't go back to sleep. I slept in until 6 and was even going to go back to bed, but then the dogs wanted out. Now I'm wishing I liked coffee, but I don't, not even coffee flavored candy. Hopefully, being tired will not prevent me from my chore list. Here's my 2 layouts: This one is just about summer memories from my Aunt and Uncles farm, especially the yearly eating of sweet corn and watermelon. dAtTheFarm by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr This one is about how my dd likes to dress up the animals. We have really good animals as they let her do it. dDressUp by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr Hope everyone has a great start to their weekend.

Here is my first layout for the Christmas in July challenge. I wanted to finish this so I could start on Megan's wedding. Super simple, just a couple of die and silhouette cuts and our oldest DD's family Christmas card. Very old papers. The red background says 2007 on it. LOL Merry Christmas by Nylene Budge, on Flickr
