LisaDV , those pages are fabulous. The first had me in tears and the last one articulated so many of my same feelings. You are a beautiful writer. grammadee , I can't believe you accomplish so much in a day. I love your layouts and left notes in the gallery. I have done some more Christmas pages. I need to get busy on other things. We have our annual Card Club Extravaganza on Thursday. We start early in the morning and scrap til noon when we go to lunch together. We return and scrap until many need to go home to fix dinner for little families. We can stay until 10 if we want to. We'll see how long I last. We each bring 10 finished cards and something to show, like a new technique, new fold, etc. Then we can work on anything we want. I don't know what I want to work on. nylene , thanks. I just left love on your fabulous layouts. I'm so enjoying your photo card pages. I thought I'd want to do the same for our, but really I just want you to do them for me as your's are just wonderful. Your Extravaganza sounds like a blast! Have you decided what you'll be showing? I picked up my Latisse yesterday morning. The stuff that is suppose to help your eyelashes grow. I put it on before bed. This morning my right eye was all swollen and gross and my first thought was "I did it wrong!" followed closely by "I had a reaction". Then I realized I forgot to take an allergy tablet after coming in last night and the little bugs that I have this type of reaction to were really bad last night. I hate those little things and I don't even know what they are. After being out all morning yesterday running errands, I came home exhausted and just created a couple of digitally layouts. Here I finally learned about shadowing my washi digitally to make it look more realistic. dWrestleMania by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr d2009C_Reindeer-Feeding by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr

Happy Tuesday! Hope you all are having a nice day. Boy, I had a good time last night. It was my mil's birthday dinner and my dh and I went. They had it at Lucille's bbq. Have you ever been? Good food! We enjoyed ourselves and I gave her one of my mini album cards. I was glad to see she was enjoying it. But from a far, I caught a glance that the center of the tissue paper flower I made came off! I got a little embarrassed and then just shrugged it off. It is so weird. I had been fluffing that flower a few times at home and it was stable and fine. Then the flower wanted to fall apart as she enjoyed it. So maybe when I visit soon I will bring my hot glue gun and fix it. The life and times of us crafters I tell ya. LOL! I do have some pictures to share and have lots of your pictures to visit. I feel so behind with y'all. LisaDV- Oh what a bad reaction! I hope it is better today. nylene- What a fun event you have coming up. I wish I could find some scrapping friends here in town that could do that. So fun! scrapincin- Any more fishing this Summer? grammadee- You and nylene have really been scrappin. Glad to see it. Waving hi to you all and check back this week.

Well, we are home from our road trip. Tried to pack a lot into 3 days. It was fun spending time with the girls, and we had a lovely supper out with their parents. Ds had time for supper with us before he had to leave last night to catch a flight to be at work early this morning. The girls went through the scrapbooks from the past year, and we had a few picture worthy moments for this year's album. I stopped at M's to pick up some things for the girls (a zippered case into which I tucked a set of 3 travel journals, some eversharp pencil crayons and some fidget spinners) and managed to come out of there with a few more TH oxide ink colours. Still trying to create the perfect winter sky background for some Christmas cards, and decided I needed worn lipstick and faded violet to go with my broken china and faded jeans. Will see how that works... I think this is the longest I have ever taken to make ten cards! Awesome pages, LisaDV and nylene. You two have really been creative this month! Your card club sounds like a lot of fun, nylene. I hope that eye clears up, LisaDV! kellyr21, I'll bet your mil loved your gift. I have no idea why glue just suddenly decides to let go. Frustrating. Well it is about time for me to crawl into my own bed to get a good night's sleep...

kellyr21 , sorry that your hot glue fell off. I find hot glue does this from time to time for me too. I like E6000 better for things that really need to stay or glossy accents. I'm sure your mil loved your card. They must not have Lucille's in the midwest, as I've never heard of them. Good bar-b-que is always nice to have though. grammadee , glad your home, safe and sound. I'm sure the dgd's loved seeing the albums. My day has been busy, busy, busy. I finally cleaned the great room, kitchen and bathroom this morning. It's been 2 weeks. I took care of some odds and ends things like requesting a refill from the Dr for dd's Rx, canceled a adware membership, dealt with Best Buy on an issue), did a load of laundry and getting ready to start a second, finished a layout, picked 2 large bowls of garden vegetables which some became a salad to go with my soup for dinner tonight. I'm sure there's more but that's all I can think of at the moment. Here's the layout which was for a journaling challenge about someone who was a role model. dSuePhillips by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr Cards that I've been piecing together here and there while sitting in the living room with dd watching tv. Untitled by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr And my two bowls of vegetables that I picked today. Untitled by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr I was totally going to chop up the cucumbers for another batch of pickle relish, but I couldn't find last years recipe and just pulled a new recipe. Don hasn't taste tested it yet to approve it. Last years batch was "the best he ever tasted." So I figured I should get his approval before making another batch of unknown relish. Unfortunately, he's out of town until Friday.

Good Wednesday evening, Pokeys. LisaDV, I am jealous of your garden. Mine gave me some more peas in the shell today, but it really is slow compared to other years. We are having our first raspberries with cream this evening. Tomorrow I plan to grab salad veggies (lettuce, onions, radishes, dill, parsley, maybe some white turnip) from it, but my cukes are a long way from producing anything. Hoping to have our first feed of new potatoes this weekend. And there may be some baby carrots. Left some love in the Gallery. Have half my 10 Christmas cards completed and most of the pieces to make the other half ready for gluing. Might get a chance to finish them tomorrow while waiting for the floor to dry. Today was a house cleaning day for me. Got the upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms ready for occupants. Ds & family will be arriving late tomorrow afternoon. They now have places to sleep, but the downstairs living areas need serious attention tomorrow. I need to tell dh to extend his coffeeing in town until at least 11:00AM so I can get the floor washed before he gets back. That involves a lot of pre cleaning as well. Their littlest is not yet two years old, so no telling what those little fingers may pick up on my floor as it is now. Also this past month we have had a painter working on the outside of the house. The last place he worked on was the deck, so all the furniture is piled up in the middle of it now. He finished and packed up his ladders and scaffolding today, but at some point tomorrow I need to get the deck organized again. We tend to cook and eat out there a lot in the summer months, especially when we have guests &/or family here. We had cleared it off and used it for dd's bd supper a couple of weeks ago, but by that Monday morning everything had to be packed up again and out of the painter's way. Anyway, wishing you all a great end of the week!

Happy Thursday all! grammadee, Half of our garden looks great, half looks pathetic. The half that Don worked and worked has beautiful plants. The half he didn't has plants that don't look very big. My carrots didn't come up at all. Those bunnies got my turnips, beets and most of my kale. I need to check the onions and potatoes. We aren't even close to peas/beans yet. My peppers all lost their leaves after I placed them in the ground; they came back, but have not gotten very big but one has a little bitty pepper forming. I wish I paid more attention to my dad and his gardening or lived closer to my sister to glean the knowledge. We've had these potato bugs and have been hand picking them off, as I don't do pesticides unless organic. I also haven't research if there is something natural to put on them, so we pick them. The chickens are too well fed, because they won't eat them. lol. Cleaning is a necessary chore, but ugh. Hope your time passes quickly, and you get all you wanted done in time to enjoy your company. I'm off to clean my craft area and then set up my sewing machine.

Happy Friday! Today is a slow day. Hope you are having a good one. Off to the gallery to see all your wonderful creations. I gotta catch up. LisaDV- Oh I just saw today that you posted about one of your digi pages being featured on that scrappin site. How cool is that! Plus you lo looked so pretty and soft. Congrats! Also, thanks for the tip about that E6000 glue. I have never used it and maybe will try it. justjac- Glad to hear you are having a nice Summer break. Look at all the scrapping you have done. Go girl!!! Waving hi to everyone and have a nice night!

Good Sunday evening, Ladies. No one is particularly pokey this month. nylene and justjac, you really jumped into Christmas in July with both feet! And LisaDV, you have been amazingly busy with kids and chickens and garden, yet still managed to get a lot of creating done. And kellyr21, you seem to be engaged in a lot of really interesting adventures. I am decompressing from another busy weekend. Ds & family arrived here Thursday suppertime and left this morning. We invited other family for supper last night, so lots of visiting. Thankfully the weather was wonderful so we lived on the deck. The two little guys (aged 3 1/2 and almost 2) had a great time playing in the yard. They are big fans of peas off the vine and fresh raspberries, even the crunchy baby carrots. In the house, they went through a bunch of their dad's old toys and chose some to take back home with them. They were delighted to find Optimus Prime and a Ghost Buster vehicle that transforms as well. Also, their dad took them for lots of adventures on the quad. After they left, I was able to finish my Christmas in July cards, and I now have them ready to mail out tomorrow. I had hoped to finish a page I had started last week, but ran out of creative energy. Also our nephew's dw came over to pick raspberries, so I joined her out in the garden for a couple of hours. Tomorrow afternoon we need to drive into the city to stay a couple of nights. Dh has a procedure booked for Tuesday morning at the heart centre. They plan to start with a cardiogram. Depending on what they find, they may decide to put in a stent, in which case they will keep him in the hospital over night. Even with just the scope, he needs to stay in the city for 24 hours after the test, so we are booked into a hotel for at least 2 nights. Even if he does come back to the hotel room Tuesday evening, he is supposed to remain pretty immobilized, so we can't really go anywhere or do anything. I have a little pile of card making supplies ready to go into a small shoulder tote to take with me to keep me busy. In the morning I need to drive into town, get some gas, and run a few errands. If I have time and energy I may finally finish that flamingo page! Here are my CiJ cards: Attachments:

Happy Monday all, Don is off to GRs today which is not his normal day and I expect that I'll be off all week long now. Well, more "off" than normal. ha justjac , it's so good to "see" you. Sounds like your summer vacation has been productive already. Congrats on decluttering books. We have the hardest time getting rid of books in my house. Your pages are wonderful and I'll leave love on them later this week. I've been working on 2009 Christmas too. Too bad we couldn't haven't gotten together to do it. grammadee , I will pray for a positive outcome for your husband for the cardiogram. Your cards are all quite lovely. Are they all window layered or are they all shaker cards?? Either way they are fabulous. kellyr21 , thanks! You should try that glue. It works on all sorts of various material. I have a resin/glass holder in the bathroom where the base came away from the glass and I used that glue and it's been holding up like a champ. I use it for metal on canvas or paper, but can be an all use - wood, sequins, paper and the like. Did you have a relaxing weekend? nylene , how did your extravaganza go? Did you learn a lot of new things? scrapincin , msliz , @elaynef , and maribeth , I hope you all are well and enjoying your summer. Same old, same old is going on here. I'm trying to sort and organize my rubber stamps. I'm awaiting the arrival of the RIGHT bobbins for my sewing machine which thanks to Amazon should arrive today. And here are my lastest digital layouts. dYouGoFast by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr d2009C_SiblingGiftExchange by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr

grammadee , I hope that your husband's procedure is going well and that he will be able to be back to his normal self soon. Prayers for him, you and the doctors. Dee's post was the only one I have read and I am behind on seeing your beautiful work, and hope to catch up soon. Steve developed an infection inside his eye after his treatment on Monday. On Tue they injected antibiotic into the eye, but went through a little blood vessel which filled the eyeball with blood. He can't see through it and that leaves him with no real sight. He has some peripheral vision in the other eye, but no center vision at all. It takes 2 weeks for the blood to be reabsorbed. He has been checked every day to make sure the infection is clearing, so I am doing a lot of running back and forth. Today I took him in for a derm. appt and they removed a large cancerous lesion from his cheek. They are still deciding whether he will need radiation treatments. Needless to say, I have not accomplished much. Our Extravaganza was a lot of fun. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to go, but things worked out for another ride for DH. It was really good to just relax and have fun with the girls. I learned some very interesting new folds for cards. Mostly we just talked, laughed and worked on whatever we brought. I'll catch up this week. Hope you are all full of scrapping mojo. I see a lot of layouts/cards/etc. posted.

Happy Monday! We had a very low key and restful weekend. I hope to get back at it this week. I have lots of stuff to do and hope to get some things done. Oh I forgot to tell you. Some years ago I donated my Cricut to my in-laws church. I wasn't using it and thought maybe they could use it. So here years later, I missed it and wish I had this type of machine again. When I went to visit the church last month one of the ladies mentioned that they still had the Cricut and not using it. She asked it I wanted it back. So last week I got it back and I can't wait to get to cutting away!!!! I still would like to get a Silhouette down the road but for now this is good.
Here is the mini album card I made for my MIL's birthday. After this pic I added some turquoise glitter swirls here and there. There were 6 pages in this card and these are just some of the pages.

Birthday Card Pt 2 by Kelly Roberts, on Flickr grammadee & nylene- Oh ladies, I am praying for you and your dhs! Take care of yourselves and know that we ladies are thinking of you. Thankyou for your well wishes. We drove through an ugly rain storm to get to the city, but are here in the hotel, settled in for an early night and an early morning tomorrow, heading to the hospital. A different storm last night blew down a huge tree in our back yard. No damage done other than blocking the path around the yard. We left it there to deal with later. nylene, I hope your dh's eyesight returns quickly and the treatment for the leassion is effective. ((((Hugs)))) to both of you. kellyr21 and LisaDV, I am leaving some love in the gallery. My cards are now on their way. LisaDV, the answer is yes. There is a shaker card, some window cards, some with an acetate overlay popped up on foam tape. The only constant is the distress oxide on photo paper BG and the Cottage Crafts diecut.

grammadee , I hope things go well with your husband and that you can soon be home again. Just not able to see much. I love your Christmas cards. I am hoping to get some oxide inks. They are really pretty. Thanks for all the well wishes on Steve's eye and cheek. He is upbeat about it and thinks his vision might be improving a tiny bit. justjac and LisaDV , I love your Christmas pages. It's kind of fun to be doing Christmas layouts in the summer. I've enjoyed doing mine. kellyr21 , your mini album card is so beautiful. I always love the way you make cards into albums. I'm sure it was greatly loved even if the flower fell off. I agree with LisaDV , E6000 glue will hold anything. It's kind of stinky (as my grands would say) but we used it all the time for Scout projects. I haven't used it for scrapping except with heavy pieces on canvas project, but it's a good one. I forgot to tell you that at our Extravagance I demonstrated the technique Jen McGuire showed of stamp block inking. We made some pretty cards. I die cut a bunch of silhouettes of flowers, hot air balloons, etc. that they could mount over the inking. We didn't do the embossed stamping like she did on the video, but the cards were really pretty. Here is the link to her video. www.youtube.com/watch?v=UhTUvdcFDOk&feature=em-subs_digestOff to get something accomplished.

grammadee and nylene, I'm sending healing prayers for your DHs. Please take care of yourselves too! Worry will steal your strength, and you're going to need your strength for their recovery. Well, I've given up on scrapping anything before September. DD has taken over my craft table and as long as she's using it, I don't want to ask for it back. It'll be mine again soon enough when she heads back to school. I have too much work to do anyway. And I can still keep my feet in the crafty world by organizing and occasional shopping.

Ah, msliz , that's too bad that you don't have your scrap area right now. But what a nice mother you are to give it up until she leaves. Oh, the sacrifices we make for our children. LOL. Will look forward to seeing lots of finished work starting in Sept. grammadee , I am so relieved that your DH is doing well and needs no further follow-up. Hope you have a relaxing trip home. ETA: I found my 13 year Pea on my computer and hosted it at Postimage and I now have my 13 back instead of a big black box.

We got home mid afternoon yesterday. Dh is feeling back to normal. Cut some grass on the ride on mower last night and is in town for coffee this morning. He will be back soon b/c a contractor is scheduled to come today to cut up and remove the huge tree that came down in our yard during the storm Sunday night. I am taking advantage of time alone in the house to complete my flamingo page, and photograph and prepare for mailing some of the cards I put together in the hotel room on Tuesday. Short turnaround for us, as our ddil who is a barrel racer will be arriving tonight with two little boys and a dog--and her horse! Tomorrow she is off to the rodeo to ride, and then will be moving on to the next town (I think she is registered in 3 this weekend). The boys and the dog will be staying with us at the farm until Sunday when I will drive them to meet their mom at her last rodeo. Not sure what we will do. There is a Fair complete with midway rides and a petting zoo at a nearby town this weekend. We could spend an afternoon at the lake one day. Or we may just hang out around the yard here. Here is my flamingo page. Thanks so much for the diecuts, msliz! August 18 by Gramma Dee, on Flickr And here are my cards: butterfly anniversary by Gramma Dee, on Flickr cowboy bd by Gramma Dee, on Flickr blue bd by Gramma Dee, on Flickr I repeated the design for the anniversary one a couple more times, so completed 5 cards altogether.

nylene , so sorry that Steve is going through all of that. Hope that his eye clears quickly and that they got everything when they removed the lesion. I'm glad you were still able to go to the Extravaganza and that you had a good time. In harrowing times, I think it's important to spend some time on yourself to recharge. kellyr21 , I left you love yesterday on your beautiful card/mini-album. What a blessing to get your cricut back! I can't wait to see what you do with it. msliz , what does your dd do for her craft of choice? grammadee , I'm glad your dh is feeling better. You sure have been on the go this month, and as always, you are still crafty productive. I really love the flamingo acetate on that layout and that boot card. I'll leave love later in the gallery on all. I've created some bookmarks (they're fabric not paper, but I'm still sharing). Untitled by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr The younger nieces and nephews names are all stitched on the front. The back is a coordinating piece of fabric. Untitled by Lisa Davolt, on Flickr The two owl patterns have a pocket for pens for journaling. I'd still like to make a couple more bookmarks - one for my mil and one for sister who both read extensively. I'd also like to make a few more pen holder ones. I'm hoping to start my quilt today though. I spent all morning researching hotels in MN and booking our flight and finally the hotel. Tomorrow is going to be errand day in town. Hurray - not.

good evening Pokey's! I have not posted in a while I know. I have been busy and this week we went to North Carolina to visit my younger brother and his family. We really wanted to see where he is living as they moved there a couple of years ago. I know I have posts to check out but I will tomorrow as tonight I am dog tired. I have some good photos to make a couple of layouts this week also. So just checking in see everyone tomorrow.

Good to hear from you, scrapincin. Hope you get a good rest so you are all ready to scrap your fun photos! Your bookmarks are awesome, LisaDV. The two little guys and their dog are still here, keeping us busy. Yesterday we attended the Fair, spending most of our time on the Midway making good use of those ticket armbands. Today was a quieter day, but they played on the playpark in the yard and rode around with Grampa on the lawn tractor while I picked a couple of gallon pails of berries. This afternoon I drove them to the splash park in town: just seemed easier than finding and setting up the slip n slide in the yard. Early Sunday morning, we are off to the rodeo to see their mom ride and to make the switch of car seats and such so the boys can go home with her.

LisaDV , I love those bookmarks. You must have an embroidery machine. I love the names on the front. I love the colors and designs of the fabrics you used. scrapincin , it's great to see your face popping up! I can't wait to see what you scrap from your trip. Glad you got away for a while. grammadee , you have had a busy couple of weeks. Do things ever slow down for you? msliz , it sounds like your daughter is as crafty as you are. What fun to have 2 crafters in the house, even if it means your craft space has to be shared. kellyr21 , your mini album is beautiful. I left love in the gallery. justjac , you have been busy with Christmas pages. I left love in the gallery. I need to get back to my Christmas pages too. Steve's eye is clearing some. He can't see to drive yet, but can do a lot of things he wants to do. It's slow, but it's coming. We go back for rechecks on his eye and cheek next week. I need to get busy. I have worked on a layout since the Extravaganza and want to do a companion page. I'll post both when I finish. I will post a new thread on Monday. Can you believe that it's almost August? This year has rushed by.
