I have heard of them but never saw one in action. Are they better? Do you recommend one? Do you just use it in certain situations? Can you use something instead of?

I've used a rubber mouse pad before when stamping. I do own a large, red, foam-type stamp pad though. It's just easier to use than the mouse pad because it's so much smaller. If I'm doing a lot of stamping, then yes, I do use the larger one. I can tell a difference when I use a pad and when I don't because my ink seems to deposit better onto the paper with the pad. Here is the red one I have: Rubber Stamp PadETA: maybe it's not really red...but close enough Can you cut that stamp pad in half or is it really thick? I'm thinking about getting one or maybe a mouse pad. Using a thick magazine or catalog - still on the fence about this...

Too funny! LOL! $5?! Really? Not bad considering all the others you mentioned are more - LOL! Or might need to "borrow" a mouse pad from my hubby

I've never used a pad when stamping before...does it really make a difference? I guess I should try it!

I use the foam inserts that come in CTMH stamps. If it's a bigger stamp and I'm having issues, I might stack two of them together.

I have both the CTMH foam inserts and a big yellow pad. I LOVE the big yellow pad, it really makes a difference, I think.

I just use a piece of fun foam. It does help with getting an even impression.

See I always thought a hard surface would be best. Who knew.

I use the piercing pad from my Sew Easy. It's firmer than a mouse pad, but seems to do the trick, I convince myself every once in awhile that's it's a placebo effect, but I am always more satisfied with the mat! It works.

I use the paper piercing mat from Stampin' Up! I like it because it's larger than what I used to use which was the foam inserts that come in CTMH stamps. I find I need to use a mat with a larger photopolymer stamp. It does make a difference.

When I saw your title, I thought INK pads, which I Often call stamp pads! How funny to see soneone start saying , on a stamping forum, that they have head of them, but never seen one in action! It took me a moment p realize what you were actually talking about!

I recently started using a stamp pad and I can tell a difference in my stamping. The stamp pad seems to provide a nice even pressure. Was I indeed stamping beforehand? lol

I have the Darice one. Yes, it is large, and yes, you can cut it if you want. I have not cut mine down. A friend of mine cut hers and gave part away. She now regrets doing that.
i do seem to get a better image with it.

I use one, too, but mostly for clear stamps and plain rubber stamps. I find it's less necessary with wood-mount stamps or cling-mount stamps.
