Here in my little section of the world (Kentucky) we have both Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme. I prefer Krispy Kreme donuts to DD but prefer the local donut maker to both. As far as coffee goes, I like my Starbucks.

Tim Horton's is on my way to work but Krispy Kreme is about 45 minutes away (darn it all) and they have a drive through! Not many Dunkin' Donuts around me either. I love Tim's Boston Cream! Yum Yum

Not a chain, but Rise N' Roll Bakery, aka: Amish crack donuts, are the favorite in our area. They have two bakeries and are opening up a third soon. They even have a few gluten free options. I always get a gluten free raspberry lemon cheesecake muffin.

No DD around me (Seattle suburbs). There are a few KK, but I don't believe they are that popular. The popular donut place here is a local chain called Top Pot.

And I much prefer making my own donuts with my own special toppings if I want a donut. They are a thousand times better than the crap you buy at any donut shop, local or chain. Theres always one. It must've been hard trying every local donut shop!

I didn't care for Krispy Kreme when they were here. All donuts are sweet, by theirs are like eating pure sugar. It makes my teeth hurt just thinking about it.
I do however, LOVE my Timmy's coffee. And their muffins. And their cheddar cheese bagels.

We have mostly Dunkin' Donuts but you can get Krispy Kremes. I don't think there are KK shops around here they just sell them at some stores and gas stations. I don't like KK at all. I do like DD donuts and their coffee is really good but my favorite coffee is Starbucks. I live in NE Pa.

We had a few KK here in pittsburgh a few years ago. But they are all closed now. They just sell them in Walmart and gas stations.
Dunkin donuts are popping up again in my area. We had them many years ago.

We don't have either a Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme here although sometimes Krispy Kreme gets flown in from Maui and sold at Costco. We have a couple local donut shops but the one I tried wasn't good. I miss restaurant choices on the mainland.

We had a KK come in around 6-7 years ago, closed after 2-3 years and now the rumor is we are getting a Tim Hortons. I wonder how long that will last...

All the Krispy Kremes here closed. When they first opened, it was mayhem. Then it died down once people figured out they aren't very good and are Hell on your ass and thighs. We still have KKs on the market, vacant for YEARS that they have not been able to lease and convert to something new.

If your main aim is good coffee.. then Starbucks is the Tim Hortons of the US. But if it is donuts then Dunkin Donuts is probably the top runner up. But Tim Hortons and Burger King seems to be an odd merger. Starbuck's gives Tim's a run for their money in the Vancouver and suburbs area on the westcoast of Canada. By me there is a large intersection with 3 Starbuck's in a one block radius, and only one Tim's.

I LOVE Dunkin Donuts. I'm from NH and they are everywhere "back home". They're slowly coming around here in Denver. The closest one to me right now is over a half hour away, but it's worth it!

I'm in Michigan, and we have TH as well as a couple of DDs. We had a KK but it closed after a few years. We do go to TH after the theater, because it's open late and in a good location. I think all if their stuff is overpriced, though. We have a local chain of convenience stores that makes fantastic donuts so I rarely buy a donut anywhere else.

Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Creme are the only donut shops in my area. Both seem to be expanding at an even pace. My favorite donut in the area, though, comes from Publix.
If I had a local option, I'd gladly go there. There's simply no such animal nearby.
Now if I lived near "Glazed" in Charleston? Oh man. Best donuts ever.

The 2 big donut chains in the US are Dunkin' Donuts and Krispy Kreme.
We have several local donut shops in town too.

I'm just one of those people that loves homemade food, I thought I was just participating in the conversation, what am I doing wrong here? i should add that I love homemade food but that doesn't mean we never eat "crap". I think you're reading more into my comment than I put there.

I am definitely a Dunkie Junkie! I love Dunkin' Donuts. My son lives in Mass. And he loves his DD. He never even drank coffee until he moved there and became a Dunkie. I don't think he does the donuts though.

Apparently it's Dunkin' Donuts in the Northern states and Krispy Kreme in the Southern states. Not in Florida at least not in my area. All the Krispy kremes shut down here years ago. We are getting more and more Dunkin donuts lately though. But the local places are much better. I have no dog in this fight because I'm not a fan of either of them. We have both here and they're just too sweet for me. Every once in a blue moon, I'll hit up a KK because of the warm donuts. Otherwise, I don't eat them.

Tim Horton's and Burger King are both about a mile from my house and are practically next door to each other. We are wondering if one of them will close or if they will continue to operate their restaurants separately. I love Tim Horton's coffee. (We no longer have DD in my town). I used to like Tim Horton's sandwiches till we went there for dinner with friends and our friend's bread had mold. And to top it off, he was given a hard time about it at both the restaurant and corporate headquarters when he called to complain after being given a hard time by management that evening. We have a local bakery that makes the most awesome donuts. We do not even think about going anywhere else. Yum! Now I'm craving donuts!

My favorite for coffee and they are expanding in the Sunshine state.

I'm surprised there is not more backlash against companies moving their headquarters out of the country for tax reasons. I would boycott BK, but I don't eat there anyway!.

We have Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts, in addition to about a dozen local places. I prefer the light fluff donuts from Krispy Kreme, but I have to go out of my way to go there, which I am just not going to do for donuts unless I am feeding a group. Dunkin Donuts seems to focus on the coffee. In the drive-thru, their opening line is, "Welcome to Dunkin Donuts. What size coffee can I get for you?"
I can't really fault a company for moving to where they can be more profitable. They are a business, and their primary objective is to make money. They will still support our economy though sales tax, employing US citizens, etc.

Just in the last year, I've had 2 brand new DD's built within 10 minutes of my house. Gross. Their doughnuts were much better freshly made in the store. And now, if they're out...they're out. Guess there's no time to make the doughnuts when the box is empty. My favorite doughnut place...a local place...Dutch Monkey Doughnuts. Heaven. (but I treat it much more like a dessert than I do a doughnut...and don't get them often at all) www.facebook.com/dutchmonkeydoughnuts

I'm not sure that would be all that good for this country. It could very well be individuals would end up paying more in taxes to make up the difference. As I do believe it just not the Federal Government they pay taxes to but also to state and local governments as we well. This would not be so great for Burger King employee who are paid minimum wage. Something to ponder.

If enough companies leave, eventually, our government will be forced to create a more friendly business environment. These companies are going to pay taxes somewhere - we need to remain competitive as a country to attract and retain businesses. Our states and local governments have the same issue - they have to figure out how to attract businesses.
