I didn't mean to start a moral dilemma / discussion, really I didn't! I was just wondering, since people were saying the dies were the same as ones they've seen on other sites, from other companies, what the difference was between the two. I appreciate the information about the possibilities of manufacturing or quality issues, and to be cautious with what you spend the $$ on. (and I also agree that most stamp / scrap supplies seem overpriced, for what you get-- for sure!) I think it was more me than anyone. I just wanted people to be able to make an informed decision when they buy things, that's all. And truthfully, the prices we are seeing are unlikely to be the cost the companies here are paying...they are likely paying a lot less due to volume purchasing. Enamel dots on AliBaba require you to buy like 1000-5000 minimum but they are less than a quarter a pack, same goes for washi tapes and other products. We are still paying inflated costs, but the cost is much lower than retail pricing and it shines a light on how inflated prices are (barring R&D costs, of course). As I said, these are things I wouldn't purchase otherwise, so the company designing them isn't losing out on any money from me.

I still want a list of those matching dies. If anyone sees Birch Press Dazzle B and C dies, can you holler? I saw someone on YT that had found the set, but I've only ever seen the top one.

I didn't realize the brand I was seeing was birch press for the layered dies. So far, I'm only seeing one except for one set (that one, I can find all three)...thankfully, one of the prettier sets, I'm actually really liking the one that's available and unlike some of the others, it's quite usable on it's own. There is another floral set that has all but the very bottom plate. I can't afford everything I want, so I'm trying to pick and choose (starting with the one set that I can get all three of because who knows if that will always be the case). The Fiori one is BEAUTIFUL and even if I can just find the top plate, I'm okay with that!

I've been looking! It appears many of them are really new, like last month new. I found one listing that specified July, not 2017, so maybe in the coming months we'll start to see more!

Well, I may be an ebay only person, anyway! I tried to purchase 2 dies this afternoon and the money has been taken from my card, but they cancelled the order and it has not credited back, and sent me an email saying they need to verify my identity, and would like a photo of my driver's license, credit card and bank statement! Over a $4 purchase that my bank honored? That's SO beyond unreasonable!
Has anyone else had this problem?

Just nabbed a few. I got myself 3 sets to start (I still might buy a few more later on today). The one that made me go ahead and order was the folding heart die set. I think it would be fun to use for Valentine's for my sons' schools. I'll use some cardstock I have on hand and let them pick superhero paper or something to put on the front.

I generate single use card numbers with one of my credit cards. I've never had an issue, but I'd contact my bank and let them know that you are concerned with fraud, let them know the merchant cancelled the transaction and you'd like to make sure the pending charge is cancelled. Which shop did you order from so we can avoid that one?

From two of them. I thought that Ali processed the card, not that each store receives my card information!
Store name: KIWARM Handmade Accessories Store $2.56
Store name: Zhang bing $1.92
This is what it says on the "appeals" page the cancellation emails linked me to, so I have no idea if it's the store or Ali in general that's questioning my purchase. But I made 3 purchases a few minutes apart, 1 was accepted, then 2 were "cancelled".
Reminder :
In order to validate your payment, please follow the instructions below and file an appeal . We will respond to your appeal in about 1-3 working days. Once your card/account information has been validated, you may go shopping on our site.

Me, too. I actually only put in my first order a few days ago. I rarely make any purchase online except Amazon, unless I can use Paypal. This is exactly why.

FYI - you will sometimes find what appear to be matching dies or stamps to those you have that are branded. From what I have read from other buyers there is often a size difference so you are taking a chance trying to match them up that way. Better to try and find both on Ali although there are very few "sets" so far. It looks like they are getting more but.....
Also many dies or stamps you find there are smaller than the branded ones. Not better or worse but different. The quality is fine. Most have measurements in centimeters so be sure to check that before ordering.

Many of the LF ones still say 'proudly made in the usa' on the packaging. Clearly not true. I am thinking their dies started showing up recently because they recently switched where they could in order to cut costs/increase profits. I can't see how they aren't making enough money, especially with the incredibly strict pricing restrictions they place on sellers.

My order from yesterday shipped. But I realize now it is Friday, so it might make sense to wait to place my next order until Sunday given the time difference.
I also looked up haul vids on yt and discovered some of the layering sets were all there but sold out. Hopefully they will restock!

The haul videos are where I saw them, too, but no one ever links the stores they use. I'm still baffled by that request for a SCAN of my license, card and bank statement. That's just unbelievable to me. When I did a web search, there's lot of people that say it has to do with Chinese banking regulations, and that ultimately every buyer will be asked to provide that information. I contacted their customer service and told them there was no way I'd provide that much information for a $2 purchase, and they said I could block out my card number except the last 4 digits, and provide images of my Ali bank transaction instead of my bank statement, but I still can't see it. Has no one else had this happen yet?

Has no one else had this happen yet? The one I found had links, but the video is a few weeks old and the comments said that the sellers had removed many of the layered dies that she had gotten (the link was one I think I had found on my own). I have seen people in groups on FB encounter this issue, but this is the first time here that I've seen it. In any case that it's asked of me, I will certainly refuse to send the information and take up the issue with my credit card company to make sure I'm refunded for the transaction. I'm wondering if it's because I've made purchases in the past and if this regulation is new and because I've had successful transactions in the past that I am okay?? Or maybe it's just random and luck of the draw as to when they require that information??

scrapaddict702Thanks. I found a lot of stuff online about how and why they do it that dates back a few years, but they all say eventually everyone will need to provide it, and people are really half and half about it. Half of them figure it's just security, send it off, half of them say absolutely not. I'm an absolutely not. Right now the transaction is listed as a HOLD and hasn't processed, but it's not falling off, either, and usually those clear up asap for me if the transaction is actually cancelled.

moraie - all the more reason for more stores to start taking paypal...none of the scrappy ones I've found so far accept paypal even though both PP and AE are advertising that Paypal is accepted now...it would have been wise to mention that either it's taking time to roll out OR each shop has the choice to decide whether or not they want to pick up that payment option. Paypal already does the identity verification if you ever have incoming funds by linking a bank account.

I found one die in one store that took Paypal, and they charged an extra fee for using it to cover "Marketplace Protection". It was .50 or .75 on a $2.50ish die.

I just went to look and I've done 60 orders from Aliexpress (washi tape addiction, whoops) and never seen this problem. I would NEVER send anybody personal info like this. Not only would I report to it the bank to make sure you get your refund, but I'd report it to Aliexpress too so they can look into whether the vendor is up to no good. Probably not; it was probably just because it was your first order ever, but that request is absolutely unreasonable (and a serious security risk for you) even if it weren't overseas.

Oh dear. I've spent several hours going down the rabbit hole today! Have seen a lot of lawn fawn dies.
Just wondering if anyone has seen the everyday pop up type dies - the ones that cut and score different tab shapes?
