I don't even think we've had much flooding. There hasn't been any around us. Well the weather got it wrong for us here in SA. I'm in the central part of the city and we have had on/off rain and very windy, but nothing near 20 inches. East of here, just about 30 min, they've had a lot of rain. I am deeply worried about my friends in Houston, though. Houses there that haven't ever had water EVER are now flooding. I'm glad they got it wrong! We're in the 1604 and 281 area. I have friends in Galveston and on the mainland too. One lost everything but she's safe!

Ugh, the news is just heartbreaking.
Family friend in League City reported 4" of rain in her home hours ago. Dallas news is reporting 15-30" of rain on top of what has already fallen. Totals could exceed 50". I can't even comprehend those numbers.
Hope all of you dealing with this are doing ok.

I'm down by Churchill High School, we've had gusty wind all day. We lucked out. Seriously lucked out. Poor Houston.

My thoughts go out to everyone dealing with Harvey and the aftermath. The news and pictures are horrific and so sad.

My neighborhood is doing ok still. So nervous about white oak still since it's so close to my house. For reference, this is today vs how it normally is

AS awful as it is that is a great comparison. They did the same thing with an area of Memorial Parkway(?) in Houston... It had ramps etc and as flooded it was totally flat waters, no idea it was even a roadway.

How bad is I45 coming coming from the north into the Conroe area? DH has the opportunity to work in Conroe for the rest of the week if he can get there from Dallas. His assignment hospital (Bayshore in Pasadena) is being evacuated.

His assignment hospital (Bayshore in Pasadena) is being evacuated. I wouldn't try it at all and I grew up here. Here are the road closures: traffic.houstontranstar.org/roadclosures/roadclosures.aspx?typ=hw#highwater

I'm not in Texas, but I've been following this thread and the radar all day, and I'm worried about all of you. I can only hope that maybe this settles down sooner than anticipated. Hang in there, everyone.

Is anyone else worrying about Barker/Attucks reservoirs? They were built, what, in the 30's? And now three catastrophic storms in 2 years? Is dam failure a concern? Maybe I am just overthinking.

Partly because of my mother's and cousin's recent deaths, I am not in Texas at all at the moment. Yes, my house got what you got. It's going to get a whole lot more and the ground is already so supersaturated that it has begun to collapse in the near area. If you go to my FB, there are some photos nearby areas to where I live.

That is a stunning visual smartypants71. It is one thing to see the flooded streets on the news but that before and after really hits home how much water is flowing through the city. Stay safe.

Did you read they're planning to do some controlled release of both starting tomorrow? Because yeah, if they don't, dam failure is a real concern.

They are simulcasting Houston news from Dallas because the Houston ABC station is flooded. They just said that the levee at Cypress Creek at I-45 is expected to flood by daybreak and encouraging people who live in that area (Inverness Forest subdivision) to evacuate to higher ground but have no instructions on how to evacuate or what roads are open. They are saying 5-8 feet of floodwater in homes there.

It's interesting how disasters can bring out the best (helping, rescuing, putting oneself in danger w/o pay) in good people and the worst (price gouging, looting, etc.) in broken people. In this case, the best...

I'm originally from SETX so I have people back home I've been trying to get ahold of...my sister just bought a home and she's about to have water all in it. My bff who is a drug addict is currently in a RV with another crack head near the river in Silsbee...I'm sick over if she's ok or not because I can't reach her either because she's floating away somewhere or too high to pick up a damn phone. I have a storage unit back home that I'm worried about also..yes I know it's just stuff but a lot of is all I have left of my dad that passed away and it's not replaceable so I've been trying to find out how bad that area got hit.

Watching latest updates on CNN now. It's almost too much to comprehend. There was a photo of seniors in a residential home sitting on chairs with water up to their chest. Just sitting there like nothing was wrong while they were almost totally emerged in water. Horrifying. They were all rescued but I think about all the others that are waist deep in water waiting for someone to come save them.
Big cyber hugs to all in Houston area. Stay safe, you're all in my thoughts and prayers.

The KFDM Facebook page has some photos - haven't seen Silsbee yet but I've only seen a few - and some live broadcasts. KFDM FBWhat I can tell you is that people who live there may still be in denial that they're going to get the amount of rain they've gotten all over again. The ground is already supersaturated. Towns nearer the Gulf there are dealing with more water than they ever have before now - and you know that's really saying something. Almost everything I own is right there, much, much closer to the Gulf than Silsbee. I know what you're feeling.
