Come and share your makes for this month. Looking forward to seeing what everyone is working on I'm making a Sunday Shawl Pattern in Stylecraft DK, I had quite a bit left over from another project and I'll be using that for the coloured section, my main part is in Silver. I had a major panic after my migraine scare that I couldn't crochet but after the hangover phase wore off I was fine...phew!

That's really nice, can't wait to see the finished project. Wish my crochet skills were up to that level.
I have a few Christmas projects in mind but my calander for Sept is so booked up I'm not sure if I can find time to get started on anything.

That's pretty lainey . I've not picked up a hook nor needles in the past month; there just has been too much going on. We will be away for a week at my sister's funeral and starting to clear her flat. I had hoped to take something easy with me that I could do on the journey but I don't even know if I will have time to plan something out. All my WIPs need concentration. I've been toying with this for ages www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/retro-remake It's in aran weight and I have double knit yarn I would like to use. Gauge isn't hugely important for a throw, is it. If I double up the strands it should make it a similar weight do you think?

Take care gillyp. My sympathies on the loss of your sister. We will be thinking of you during the coming days as it is sure to be a trying time for you. A small project might be just the thing to help you unwind each evening. I had such grandiose plans to get sewing/quilting done during the past week. Instead I ended up glued to the television, Facebook and my phone keeping in touch with everyone during the storm and flooding. I finished 1 quilt block and worked out the math on the sashing needed to piece another quilt top. Plan to do that this weekend. I will also go through my fabrics and try to make up a few of the small pet quilts to donate to the animals shelters that I posted about a few minutes ago. It isn't much but will make me feel more helpful.

I just came from Hobby Lobby where I Love This Cotton is on sale ($2.66, regularly $3.29). Dd and I may have purchased 18 skeins. Well I purchased them...6 for her 12 for me. She wants to make some wash/dish cloths. I'm playing with patterns for cloths and hoping to come up with one that I love (anyone have one to share?) so I can make them for Christmas gifts. I'm planning to make a set of little face scrubbies for my sister as well. I'll see if I can link the patterns I found. Pattern

gillyp I am so sorry for your loss. I'm sure it's going to take all your emotional and physical energy to clean out your sister's place, but perhaps you can take something small and simple to work on. I wish you lots of peace and comfort right now.

I have been very busy at work (late hours) so haven't had much time for crochet/knit I started an crochet throw (as part of a CAL) - I've gotten about 1/2 of it done but have to take a more recent photo - here it is in the early stages. My sister and I took a wood sign class last night and I made this sign (had raw boards, had to distress them, nail them together, stain, stencil, paint, etc). I was a little disappointed that the purple design didn't show up better so I am thinking of painting around that design (a fine line around it) with a brighter color to make it stand out. It was fun to make. Save

I really like 'I Love This Cotton' - not sure if you saw my post on last month's thread but I made dishcloths using the Nineteen Hundred House pattern. They were so cute, fun and easy to make. Here is a link to the ones I made Save

I went to Michael's today intending to look at scrapbook stuff. Nothing particularly moved me. I wandered over to the yarn and walked out with two of the Caron tea cakes. I was not planning to start a new project but I was so tempted by this yarn I knew I had to give it a try.

Ok so my bestie who is an ultimate crocheter looked at the video of the blanket I was making and she got really mad at the person making the video for a lot of reasons. She found me some more videos to watch and then hook. I liked the shell design, but she said it was too difficult. I was getting frustrated so she was right about that. I will try again on the weekend.

Thank you for your kind thoughts, dear Peas. The car journey is about 10 hours so I need something to keep my hands busy. I've never learnt to drive so don't worry that I should be concentrating on the road.

So sorry for your loss gillp I do hope your long journey goes ok and you find something to entertain your restless hands. My plan this month is to finish a project that has been in the background all year. I have made lots of 1/12th miniature hats and handbags to put on a market stall. Bought the kit for stall yesterday so everything is coming together at last. Last weekend was a Bank Holiday and I was bored so for the first time ever... drum roll if you please, I made 21 customised Christmas cards for friends and family. Usually I leave it until the last minute and get rushed and flustered then don`t enjoy it. Now I just need to be careful I don`t put them in that SAFE place never to be seen again.

Usually I leave it until the last minute and get rushed and flustered then don`t enjoy it. Now I just need to be careful I don`t put them in that SAFE place never to be seen again. The year I was pregnant with my son I got laid off from my job. I had a 4 year old and lots of free time and was reading a lot. My then husband got upset with the number of books around (one more good reason he's an ex...and the man never read a whole book in his life). I had some counted cross stitch kits around so I dug them out and worked for weeks making 8 beautiful little images that went onto the front of cards included in the kits. I was so excited to send them out. My son was born in late November and we took adorable photos of him and his big sister and made them into cards. In mid January I was washing the dishes and suddenly realized I had totally forgotten about my cross stitch cards. In true postpartum fashion I started crying uncontrollably! The next year 8 very special people received those cards. It makes me laugh now remembering this. 😊

I am finally done with the band uniforms. That means I can focus more on my knitting. DH's cousin's wedding is today so I can share the finished cross stitch tomorrow. I'm so sick of my sewing machine that I'm spending a week doing nothing but knitting. Maybe a cross stitch.
DH got hooked on cross stitch!

I recently finished the Shin-yu Infinity Scarf (free pattern on Ravelry) using one Sidar Colorwheel, 'perfectly pretty' & a 4mm hook. Started from the inside and still had a fair bit of the final pink left over. I made the long version and this is folded in half. haven't blocked it yet. I'm happy with the end result, although I wouldn't buy this yarn again, it's quite thin, a bit too 'fuzzy' for my liking and it split easily.

I'm making a Sunday Shawl Pattern in Stylecraft DK I still have to finish my wraop version of this, have one edge done but not the other. After I finish my Lilypond this week then I'll finish this up. They are my only two WIP so not too bad. We will be away for a week at my sister's funeral and starting to clear her flat. I'm so sorry to read that you lost your sister recently...that must be so difficult.

I had a classmate's whose mother used to crochet very well. She used to put an egg wash on her a doily after she finished. She used the thinnest string to make this creation, too. Does anyone know anything about this? Her mother was Portuguese I don't know if that matters or not. She was amazingly gifted with a hook.

pjaye that's a beautiful pattern and I'm looking forward to seeing your wrap version of the Sunday shawl. gillyp I'm so sorry for your loss. I love the Retro Remake throw, it looks very tricky though. Delta Dawn I have attempted doilies but nothing that intricate. Have you started your afghan yet? Thank you for sharing everyone

I was reading about a knitter/artist this morning and am in awe that someone can actually do this. She does micro-knitting, working in 1:12 scale! Her work is amazing, especially when you realize how tiny it is. My mind immediately went to phoenixcov, who does such great work with her miniatures. The artist is Althea Crome. It is definitely worth the time to look at her gallery in the link. Here is one of her knitted items.

Thank you for sharing everyone Yes I have started it. I know it's hard to believe. I did 3 rows, unraveled it completely about 3 times and now I have my chain to begin done. I have to find a new pattern to do. I am kind of procrastinating now because the video I was following was so difficult.

A couple of pics of my shawl, Lovely! The one I'm doing is my repurposed Hygge yarn so I'm using the Catona cotton on the borders. I'm glad you're posting about it...it's making me want to finish mine now.
